Transfer HDD to new PC - extraordinary reactivation?

I have a hard drive of a PC that was bought as configured the auto trading system but fried its motherboard to the applications and data that I want to run on a different PC with applications and data. No drive at all.

I have XP Pro and drivers for the new host (Dell 2400). The only way I can see this working is if I can activate the copy of windows already on the hard drive on the new PC and add drivers for the system as required (power supply Dell that free).  The old disk and disk system Dell 2400 are all saved using Acronis on my LAN Server. Of course Microsoft robots block this obvious way to act in this situation by requiring that re activation when he says that product my code is wrong. I need to get this HD enabled on the new PC with its registry and some stuff specific app is in the Windows folder if the apps work as they were and I can export the data at least, or I lost several years of business data and applications to execute.

Maybe there is another way using repair, etc.     Thank you

It is much more likely than not that the dead computer used an OEM of Windows version.  The OEM license permanently attached the copy of Windows on the computer on which it was first installed - the death of the computer, is this license.  Which means that you will not be able to activate your version of Windows on the old disk hard when it is installed in a new computer.

If you can find an OEM 'generic' (i.e., not Dell, HP, etc.) CD of the same flavor of Windows like death (Home/Pro and service pack level), you can probably use it to perform a repair installation.  Amazon is still selling copies random XP.  If you can find one that is the same, but for a service pack below, you can create a version with the correct service pack slipstreamed.

I have never tried this method, but see: http://www.thetomorrowtimes.com/2006/12/how-to-login-to-expired-windows.html even if this trick works, however, there is no guarantee that your applications will run.

As a last resort, you should be able to copy the data from the Acronis image or from the old disk without activating it.  Maybe you can get new copies of applications with the original supplier.
