Transfer OEM license key
I currently have Windows 7 64 bit OEM installed on my computer. I really need to update my motherboard. I was told that, with an OEM copy, you can call Microsoft and ask them to reactivate your key, so you can install it on a new motherboard. Is this true? If Yes is it useful to do and don't buy another copy?
Well well, according to the terms of the license:
The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:
-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft
-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on
-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system
You can try to revive by phone, some people got to work, but there is no guarantee:
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

OEM license key will work with sales facility in retail Windows
Originally titled: My driver's license - which is preinstalled - will work on a new installation.
It is a long story. I have a Sony VPCEB1S0E. I got a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit preloaded on it.
Backstory:
My laptop crashed about 1 year ago. If a friend of my uncle has reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Lately, I realized that it is a Windows patched copy. It does not say it is authentic, but I think that it is loaded with a magazine or something. I used the command slui.exe 3 and entered my old key for my Home Premium edition. He said that the key that I entered belonged to another edition of Windows.
Present:
So I tried to download an iso. using the new recovery software Page. However, when I entered my old product key, it displays an error saying:
Unsupported product
The product key you have entered seems to be the software that was preinstalled on a device. Contact the manufacturer of the device for soft recovery options.
I managed to download an iso of Home Premium. file from a trusted source.
Main question:
If I reinstall a new copy of Windows Home Premium, my existing license key will work during installation?
Yes, the product key will work because it's the right 'Home Premium' edition.

Replace with Win 7 32 bit XP Mode using the oem license key?
We have some old software that requires a 32 bit OS. There is no way around that it will never support 64 bit, but must use it occasionally.
Currently, we run with XP Mode installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. As Microsoft ends support XP on April 8, 2014, we want to move a virtual machine to Windows 7 32 bit.
Is it acceptable to use the same license key OEM on the bottom of the laptop to install Windows 7 32 - bit in Virtual PC instead of the XP Mode or do we need to buy more licenses of Windows 7?
Windows Virtual PC can be used independently of Windows XP Mode, but as noted, if you use another version of Windows such as Windows 7 32 bit, you will need to purchase an additional license. The license at the bottom of your laptop is already linked to the host machine on which it is installed.

Windows license question
My PC crashed. I bought a Mac. Can I transfer the Windows Lic. for my new MAC? I will also go to the virtual machine on the MAC so Windows should work. Just not sure how to notify MS, my PC crashed and I need to transfer? If the copy of PC comes with Windows preinstalled, you can not. Windows OEM copies that come preinstalled on a computer chip when the computer dies. If you purchased your copy of Windows in a store, just go ahead and install it.

Difference between the OEM license key and full version license key?
Hello
What is the difference between the full version of cs5.5 and the oem version of windows?
can I upgrade the oem version?
Thank you
Software OEM is not transferable, but it may be useful to check any documentation you have the purchase of your computer, as a lot of software that good people was OEM, was either a trial version we bought later, (after the expiry of the test), or a full version pre-installed with a serial number that we paid when buying the computer.
If it's the latter, then it should be transferable to a new computer, if you have the original serial number.

Can I transfer my OEM license on another computer and throwing away the old pc?
I have 2 old PC without any hardware in them with the product key OEM on top. I want to be legal even with not having not the money to keep buying more licenses just to stay legal. I transfer these keys on my computer principal in VMS (Virtual Machines) and used to test and evaluate and be legal or licensing die with these computers? If they do not die with these computers, just buy equipment for computers to bring back to life? I want that some virtual machines to evaluate/test/etc. Also, I believe I read that even installing the same licenses on computer 2 times (partitions) is illegal? How can this be good? If this is true, then, no wonder that Microsoft makes so much money and it goes so hacking on. I n my questions I've seen where to transfer the license to another PC and throw, stills activate, (stupid question) but making them legal with MS? : P

A Windows OEM license cannot be transferred to another computer. A virtual machine is considered to be a computer. In addition, you can only install and activate one 1 copy of Windows on a single

We have several computers at work that use 32-bit versions of Windows 7 Professional. We must move to 64-bit in order to use more memory. If I have a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit disc can I install the 64 bit version and reuse install the license key for the 32 bit version. I was told Yes as long it's the oem disc. I don't know what that means exactly. What is an OEM drive and why I he would have if the oem of Windows versions usually installed when the computer is initially being built. Thanks for the help guys!
Yes, you can use the same product key to activate the 64-bit version. You may need to reactivate but by telephone.
It doesn't have to be an OEM drive. As long as it matches the edition you are installing.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.
Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.
Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

I bought an OEM of Windows 8 64-bit of an online retailer and I was wondering if this is considered a one-time activation? Because I think about replacing my motherboard and there seems to be a lot of conflicting info on knowledge if I can transfer the license or not.
Original title: reactivation of Windows 8
If this is the license OEM System Builder, that you bought, it includes transfer rights, which means that you can move to another motherboard and turn it back on.

Hello.
I'm trying to get in the renovation of the PC company and sell them on ebay. My plan is to buy a PC with windows coa already on them. Most of the PCs that I buy to resell will not include the installation media. If my thought was to buy a windows XP OEM disc and use it on all the computers I buy already having licensed OEM XP pro on them. Is this ok? I saw that in order for OEM be used bye other people, you must include the original installation media. Given that I've never had the installation media is allowed to sell? Most computers do not even come with installation disks, done is the result of the rule that when you're selling a used computer the next owner should buy windows again? That would not make sense. At the end of the page, but it is said that the seller may not be hold installation media. If this rule is just if I don't respect the right installation disc?I believe that this is the scenario which is be clarified:If I buy a PC to measure with an OEM license not transferable, then if I sell or give this PC to another end user, I need to include the COA/product key with any installation media that exists so that the future owner will have everything you need. -
I recently did a clean install with the disc that came with my Dell XPS6400 (bought in the auction) local computer, which had only "Vista 32bits" written on it and no product key. I thought I could use the key on the sticker on the underside of the computer OEM license, even if the 2 characters in the 3rd section were partially missing - they had to be one of the other four. When OEM license was initially considered valid, I realized that I had not yet downloaded a service pack, but after that, he was still to come as being invalid! Then, I found that the version of Vista that was on the disc was "Home Premium" and the OEM for "Home Basic" license key Do I have to reinstall the whole system, drivers, etc., in order to establish the upgrade? (Please say "NO", there is an easier way to do this! Here's the MGADiag. -I hope it helps. :-}
