Transition from primary role of sleep or standby to primary school

Dear all,

We have a primary database on Oracle 10 G R2 + eve of the same DB. Including maps, satellite etc. and large volume, crash of the primary database if we move from the role of standby mode database ensures primary school.

Can we do read/write operations?

and when the primary database is up can we turn on the roles and make the original primary database as primary and Standby Database ensures again?

and how we can change ensures ReadOnly database a database read/write primary and change again to a database of the day before?

Kind regards

    Hello

    I'm using Oracle 11.2.0.3

    My primary database is a database of the RAC 2 nodes, and my backup database is an instance unique sleep physical database.

    I test above fail (no switch) scenarios. I have found that whenever I need to failover the steps below must be applied:

    1 identify and address gaps.

    If the deficiencies are found copying all the archived recovery missing logs from primary and enter it on the standby database.

    2 initiate a failover to the target standby physical database.

    3 convert the database physical standby the main role.

    I have the question below,

    1 about "identify and resolve gaps."

    If my primary database is down and inaccessible, how would I know if there are gaps? I won't be able to query any view to see.

    If my first use ASM how could copy the archiving of the ASM journal? is it applicable?

    2 Let us say that I made the switch how can open my old primary as the physics of the standby database after failover (and after solving the question on this database.)

    Kind regards

    If the primary database is not accessible, you can check the destination of archive and see the available archive logs that are not shipped and copy them to the DR server.

    If the main server itself is not accessible, you can then perform the failover with a loss of data. See the links below

  • Passage of the roles - ensures primary school

    Hi all

    We have a requirement in our environment to switch mode on primary eve. This is to stop the machine from primary database since it is now more than 350 days.

    I have a few crossing the reg of doubts.

    We have two servers

    1 Server1-Prim - main database hosts with SID - LPBT

    LISTENER - WITH SID-LPBT ON 1521 PORT WITH HOST = 80.0.1.187

    TNSNAMES with entries for the two services LPBT and STBYLPBT

    2 Server2-Stby - secondary database hosts with SID - STBYLPBT

    LISTENER - WITH SID-STBYLPBT ON PORT 1521 WITH HOST = 80.0.0.240

    TNSNAMES with entries for the two services LPBT and STBYLPBT

    Our is a physical standby and passage procedure below of the manually using SQL commands instead of dataguard

    Digital allows a primary and standby to switch roles without data loss.

    No need to recreate the old primary school. Conducted for a scheduled maintenance.

    Steps to follow:

    1. check if primary can be switched to sleep mode

    SQL > select switchover_status from database v$.

    If returns the value "TO_STANDBY", its good to pass the primary role of Eve.

    2 convert primary to standby

    SQL > alter database validation to the transition to physical standby mode;

    If the value is "ACTIVE SESSIONS" in step 1, then

    SQL > alter database validation to the transition to physical standby with the stop of the session;

    3. stop and restart the old primary as before

    SQL > shutdown immediate;

    SQL > startup nomount;

    At this point, we now have two databases, such as the day before.

    4. on the basis of data target standby, check status of the digital switchover. If the value is "TO_PRIMARY" then

    SQL > alter database validation at the grade crossing;

    If the value is "ACTIVE SESSIONS", then add "WITH the STOP of the SESSION" to above the command.

    5. stop and restart the new primary database

    SQL > shutdown immediate; start-up;

    6. start back on new database (former primary) pending

    SQL > alter database mount standby

    SQL > alter recover managed standby database disconnect log file using current;

    My question is after the transition to digital, if we connect as 'conn sys@lpbt as sysdba' since sqlplus window from another pc, how the request will go to the new primary database server (80.0.0.240) since tnsnames only will point to the old principal server (80.0.1.187).

    can you please explain how it works, or should we add a few more entries to the listener or files tnsnames.

    Please notify

    We have three databases and we use the db_links inside these three db for transactions

    so can we not use as main stbylpbt, as db_links does refer to db_link-host - lpbt solve in tnsnames who will fail.

    Yes, you are right. You have to re-create these links db to point to your new primary database ("old Standby") using guests as "STBYLPBT".

    As mentioned previously, you must redirect all your applications and users to point to the new primary database by making use of the "STBYLPBT" entry TNS.

    in this case, after the success, if we need to change db_names (vice_versa) and listeners as was before

    You don't have to do anything with regard to the 'db_name' or with the listener. Db_name remains the same on the primary and implementing standby.

    I don't understand the reason for you to change the listener. 1 listener on the server must be able to accept connections.

    80.0.0.240 is your host before and there is a listener on this. After a failover, it becomes your primary database. You would try to connect to the new primary database with input TNS "STBYLPBT." It reminds the host '80.0.0.240' which is your new primary database. Hope this clears.

    1. Click Start.

    2. Do right click my computer and then click Properties.

      • If you don't see "x 64 Edition" in the list, then you are running 32-bit Windows XP.

    Don't want to make a room upgrade, or if you want a fresh install / clean

    You can use a Full Windows 7 or upgrade disk to do a custom clean install. This will remove all of your programs, but you can save your files and settings on an external storage before doing so. You will need to reinstall all your programs after installing Windows 7. Here are the steps:

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are known problems that might affect installation and if you can install the 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

    2. backup all your files and settings to avoid losing documents, photos and other information. Windows Easy Transfer is a free tool to copy files (not programs) from your PC and then transfer back after installation of Windows 7. If you don't want to use Windows Easy Transfer, you can copy your files to a Flash DRIVE or CD/DVD. Note: The easy transfer will not work when changing languages, or when moving from 64 bit to 32 bit (it will work ranging from 32-bit to 64-bit).
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/Windows-easy-transfer

    3. find the discs installation and license/product associated to all your programs keys, because you have to manually reinstall all programs. If you have downloaded some Internet programs you can redownload them.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation do you want?" click "Custom (advanced)." Note: 32 to 64-bit requires restart and boot from the DVD.

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, you can use Windows Easy Transfer (or a different backup method you used) to restore your files & settings and use your installation disks to reinstall all your programs. Then you're done - take advantage of Windows 7.

  • The transition from the bridge of one payment to another

    Hello

    We have a customer who currently treat offline credit card transactions that that they have their payment gateway set to 'process (process manually via the existing installation) offline '.

    Now, they want to put in place a bridge of the National Australia Bank (NAB).

    Could someone provide suggestions as to how it would approach the transition from the bridge of one payment to another whereas BC only allows gateway to a payment to be selected at a time?  In other words:

    1. Is it possible that the existing offline payment gateway and the new NAB gateway can coexist so that we could go through a test phase without interrupting the continuity of the customer with the treatment of existing credit offline transactions?
    2. Or do we have to "cut" their existing sales process until the new payment gateway is fully configured and tested?

    Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Gavin

    It is not that much work to spend from OFFLINE to NAB TRANSACT

    I'm not sure, that you need to worry too much on the implementation and testing before to cut more (unless you have a really high turnover store and you want to be careful)

    Perhaps you could watch you log in to your partner portal and reproducing the SITE you want to configure on (if you have an exact dupe). Then you can go about your tests on THIS site and get all tested and functional then cut on the settings when you are happy

    Good luck
