Trash Cache

I was informed by Apple to clean periodically records cache from various parts of my hard drive as a regular maintenance activity.  I did that, but the problem is that I can't remove these items from the cache to the trash.  Indeed, it pops up a window saying that the element is used for each cache file, which is a huge pain.  I tried to quit all applications on the computer before you empty the trash, but it doesn't seem to help.  Any ideas?

Thank you

Select the items in the trash and use this (Option + command + delete) key combination to bring up this window:

Click on the Delete button and that should do it.

In some of the vor to Adobe Premiere Pro tutorials, I have seen that it is possible to get the video thumbnails in the timeline panel.

  • Remove the trash from the Cache

My Firefox profile has a folder with the name of the Cache.Trash16149 file. It is 2.7 GB and has more than 640,000 files it contains. I deleted the cache, and a second Cache.Trash folder has been created with the last series of deleted files.

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. • Put in Server cache does not cache its own installed on App Store

I've set up the OS X Server App 5.1.5 (15S 7047) on an iMac running El Capitan 10.11.5 (Build 15F34). The iMac has 8 GB of Ram and a processor i5. It's mid-2011.

He belongs to a Windows domain and put in a Time Capsule in Bridge mode.

On the iMac's settings, etc.. :

    Overview of the server:

Internet: Can be reached at 202.etc., no service available

    Public host name: no

Network interface: Ethernet, Ip address 192.168.0.70 (assigned by DHCP - not static, but it never changes)

Accounts: All users, all groups (filled by the domain Windows - Active Directory for the Windows domain controller).

Only the caching Service is enabled.

The said status caching service "available - devices on your local network automatically uses this service."

    Permissions: Only the local subnets

Serve customers with public addresses: mapping network from this server.

ICloud data: unchecked data cache personal iCloud

    Available cache: 150 GB

    Use cache: None

When installing from the App Store, the cache is unchanged - still nothing.

I also downloaded a MacBook Pro and nothing is cached as well.

I'm new to Mac and must have missed a few settings, but have read a lot on various Forums. I suspect the accessibility by saying 'no available services' cannot be part of the problem.

I checked the logs - log service for caching can help. The first installation of the application server was a week ago, and I see a problem with "black list... demand." "(see below)

About 12:15 today, I uninstalled the application server by moving it to the trash, removed the Library\Server, etc. then installed the App Server again. Now the failed activity is not currently recorded.

  • Finder, Trash, Apple Apps is not accessible.

There was a 'Top deal' malware in my mac that was causing a lot of pop - ups advertising to the browser chrome. I read a few threads of discussion here and deleted some files system ".plist", UPD.plist, etc..

I guess I deleted some authentic system files and now I am not able to access finder, trash or any apple application. It displays error every time I try to access any application.

The files that I deleted are still in my garbage can and I'm trying to restore the Recycle Bin using the command terminal "is - a.trash" but it shows "command not found".

I don't know what to do.

    Help, please!

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

Update your software OS X v10.11.4.

Instructions here > How to upgrade OS X

If after the update is installed, you see always the same slow and jerky behavior, a Safe Mode boot removes the system caches that can help.

Upper left corner of your screen, click on the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key. You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

  • Compensation copy in the Cache of the external drive made bootable disk full - where / how to remove?

My boot drive became full on my Mac Pro (end of 2013 Quad Core, I installed 64 GB 1866 MGz DD3 RAM), OX El Capitan with 250 GB HD running - it was completely full and buzzing constantly warnings etc - then I found that I had used 192,85 GB on my user folder - I have deleted my desktop, downloads and deleted the Recycle Bin.  Properly, I did a few Google searches on how to move the users folders and files of applications on an external drive using the command sudo Ditto.

I created a new user account and tried to copy the files using Terminal Server (my files are time machine saved).  I get error messages in the Terminal it produces in series through files, noting that start-up disk is full and no space for copy cache (or something to that effect). So I've put an end to the terminal window.

I deleted an another 10 GB by removing some applications on my HD that I can re - download.

I tried the same process and got the same error messages as Terminal run the copy command and put an end to the window of the terminal again.  When I search the two accounts, clear Trash, running MacKeeper I can't find where the 10 GB of cache is stored, or how to remove them and I wonder how many GB of cache I.

Tips on how to find / erase this interrupted copy hiding in order to free up space, and second, alternative ways to move or copy a large WAD of (192,85 GB) files on an external drive without having to complete the cache on the source drive?

    Many thanks in advance,

  • Cannot remove Microsoft Excel files in the trash,

I encounter a problem that prevents some Microsoft Excel *.xlsx files (and only *.xls, *.xlsx files not or * type of csv file or other) are deleted from my trash. When I try to empty the trash, I received the following dialog box: the operation cannot be completed because the item "filename.xlsx" is in use.

I confirmed that this problem occurs if Microsoft Excel and other applications of MS Office are running or not, including processes related to the MS in the activity monitor.

I use a MacBook Air (13-inch, early 2015) running OS X 10.11.4 (15E65) updated through 10.11.3 MAS. I use Microsoft Office 2016 15.20 version (and also have MS Office 2011 on my machine).

To determine which process is using the file, I ran the following command in a Terminal: lsof | grep 'filename.xlsx '.

    I received the following results:

    QuickLook 607 4r REG 121780 1.4 /Users/username/testfolder/filename.xlsx 11433557 username

When I check the PID in the activity monitor, the process is still QuickLookSatellite.

I tried to delete the Finder preferences, reset QuickLook and QuickLook caching by using the command line and I manually deleted User/username/Library/Caches/com.apple.QuickLookDaemon. The problem has persisted through several reboots.

Here are some messages I receive in the Console:

04/04/16 9:10:53.663 AM com.apple.xpc.launchd [1]: (com.apple.quicklook [606]) endpoint has been activated through legacy launch (3) API. Please go to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.quicklook

No idea what could be causing this and how do I solve the problem? What is a question of MS Office most likely a bug in the OS? Also, I had downloaded an Excel from a reliable source, but it could be a virus?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If Excel or another process has the file in use, it cannot be emptied from the Recycle Bin until it was abandoned. Ensure that the suspicious applications have actually leave or, if that proves elusive, just restart and then empty the trash.
