It is wrong to go all that is your problem.

I have instructions to run the Doug Knox fix as a copy/paste of my notes, I'll never have to type it once again, which means that (at least for the EXE usual file association problem), I like to use, but we don't know what your question is.  In fact, the majority of the stuff I answer here is just a copy and paste, I have fixed some things so many times...

Here's what I have copy and paste about afflicted EXE file associations:

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

Run the following scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

The issue here is not one of which version of Windows you are using.
It is one of what you have installed applications.

The answer is Yes, if you have WordPerfect (or some compatible)
program) installed on Windows Vista. The answer is no, if you do not.

  • Problem in opening the .zip on Windows Vista files.

I have, at some point, installed WinZip to open a .zipx file. Unknown to me until now, he put his self as the default program. Now that the trial of WinZip is over, I can more open .zip files. I've removed WinZip, and now, by double clicking on a .zip file, it tells me that the application was not found. I tried to do a system restore, but do not have a restore point from before the point of installation of WinZip. I would like to know how to restore the program that opens files .zip for the factory program. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, as I use it quite often the .zip files. Thank you all in advance!

  • Right click in Windows vista file is not open after the restoration.

I want to talk about problem laptop from my brother. One day her laptop stopped working suddenly, after only a few minutes the Vista operating system restored the system to a previous state (4 months ago). It is interesting to know that the operating system has not created any restore point in recent times. After restoring everything works except the right click. He (my brother) is unable to click any file, click function right does not.
I searched this problem on the internet but didn't find that solve everything again. In my opinion, only a windows file is corrupted.
    Help, please.

  • full installation of Windows vista files

    Respected Sir/Madam,

I have problem in bought and installed windows vista operating system, so I need an extra copy of already purchased the operating system windows vista, for the complete installation file containing the package.

How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

You can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • trying to access green old Windows ME disk Windows Vista files

    Hello

Just disassembled my old computer in the garage for so long and I tried to access the old data and valuable images by plugging the old 34 GB disc to a newer desktop computer running Windows Vista.
Some files are green and can not access.
Search the web found that these files are encrypted.
Already tried to start the new computer from the old drive, but it is apparently not possible.
Is it possible to access these files without having to raise the old computer?

The person who encrypted the wanted files make it impossible for an unauthorized person to read. It has chosen the perfect tool for encrypting them. If you now want to read these files then you need to discuss with this person. It's the only way.

  • Problem of Windows 8 file associations

Hi, I use Windows 8 RTM 32-bit and when I try to change any file file association it won't change and remains the unknown program. Currently I'm changing .scr file association, but it remains unknown program. I am the only account on my computer and the administrator.

I came across the same problem and SOLVED it.

    Background:

    -Migration of Windows7 Pro- x 32 to Windows 8 Pro- x 32

    Scenario:

-Win8 refuses to associate some extensions of audio and video files (specifically, flv, avi, mp3, mp4, m4v, mov, mpg, mpeg) with VideoLAN VLC media player while others (e.g. mkv) were involved.

    Solution:

    1. open regedit [I used > Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00]

    2. go to > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

    3. save the FileExts folder (right click > export)... just to be sure

    4. Remove extensions that refuse to associate your program (right click > delete)

    5. open: Panel > all items in the control panel > default programs > associate a file or Protocol with a program type

    6. for each extension you just deleted in the registry: select it > click: program of change... (gray button right) > choose your program

7 FACT! The files are associated immediately, without required system restart.

    Good luck!

Let me know if that solve you your problem.

  • CA Compaq CQ50-228: my windows vista files are corrupted

Hi, I have a lot of problems with my laptop because my previous hard drive mess up my files of the window.

I can't do windows restore, time will change at least once a day, I get strange noises, if I have two or more browsers for too long, the portable computer to blue screen and close and I have other questions. I try to repair my files of the window with a program, but it did not work. My windows vista was preinstalled on my laptop and I've only done a drive recovery 8 years later. My laptop was purchased in 2007. I try to use windows vista that I downloaded from a site but he had problems and the internet couldn't work. I read somewhere that all with windows preinstalled necessary to use the windows of the company that made the labtop. Is it possible that the HP can sell me the same windows vista I have on my labtop? or is it possible that the HP can sell me windows 7 that can work with my labtop? I'm afriad that my labtop explode .  I see that HP has recycling of products and if I can't get the windows recovery disc, I want to get at least $250 for my labtop because I paid $500 something for her. A few months ago, I put in a new hard drive and the fan in laptop which cost about $80 something. Thank you.

Your request for more information then they can give you will be impratical for them to do it for you if you wait more than an older system. You should try is to see if they still have the recovery media for you system to restore your system and if not your only choice is to buy a RETAIL Windows and reinstall site system drivers driver HP to get it back and working. If roll back you to Vista it should match what has been installed not what you want to install, and also there is a chance that your product key is removed for a long time to use as well for any Vista install which is why the recovery media is the best way to go if you can still get...

  • Problem Windows xp file association

    Hello

I installed Wise Registry Cleaner thinking that this would make my fast computer but instead, it made my computer opens is not .exe and .bat files.

If you need a my computer specs just ask. (Note that I can't list them all not because I can't open the computer properties)

    Thanks in advance,

    Jake

Ok no problem. Without a doubt, your computer is infected with malware.  Let's see if we can fool the malware.

Please press Alt + Ctrl + del all at the same time. This will open the Task Manager. Once task Mgr is open, click on file, then hold down the CTRL key and click New task (run) at the same time.  This will open a command prompt window.  Enter REGEDIT. EXE and press ENTER. When Regedit opens click on file > import. Now navigate to the .reg file, you have previously downloaded and saved to your desktop. After you import the .reg file, you should be able to open files from exe again. You can repeat the steps above for shortcuts aka the .lnk files (these are the shortcuts on your desktop). You can download the patch from HERE.lnk file.

After the above, decide with the scan of Malwarebytes.

  • My Contacts from Windows Vista file has no control of import or export on the toolbar, and then I can not follow the Guide help to initiate the sequence of import. Does anyone know how to add the import function in the toolbar.

    Ideas:

    • Problems with the Contacts on Vista
    • No error message
    • Never used this feature before
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

The Contacts folder is sometimes forgotten how to display contacts, see if this helps:

    1. open Windows Contacts
    2. right-click anywhere in the right pane.
    3. Select "Properties" at the bottom of the list
    4. click on the tab 'Customize' on the 'Properties' page that opens.
    5. change the 'Type', 'Contacts' folder

New Contact"and"Contact Group on new"button missing

  • How can I fix my Windows 7 file association problem and set the default values for the correct file?

Files do not open the appropriate program

The simplest is to restore your system settings for a time before the invalid associations have been set.

1 type the word restore in your Start menu, then choose restore system files and settings...
2 - Click Next, choose a date before the problem happens again, and then click Next
    3. about 2 minutes later, you're all set.
  • Is there a place to download ISO of Windows Vista files?

I lost my disc and need to make a new. I have a valid retail product key code. I would Setup rather using the "clean version" of MS instead of my Dell recovery disk that includes all the crapware that Dell thinks I need.
