    Hello

    You try to go actually on here Windows Updates site?

    http://www.update.Microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

    This site does not work for Vista. You must use the Windows built-in to Vista updates or download them
    sites I posted for you last time.

    Absolutely do not use the default Administrator account. Just make a new Admin account to
    use and leave the other to test and difficulty. In fact, make an Admin NOW account to use to test and fix
    According to the needs. If your sole administrator corrupts you will have a big headache.

  • Windows Vista won't start after installation of microsoft updates

    I just install microsoft updates, then the computer is turned off and it does not load windows.  A box appears that says
    Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library.
    This application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way.  For more information, contact the application support team.

    The options are to click OK or close the box.  I tried both and it just keeps popping up the same box as above.

    Hi Mas_007,

    Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

    I have a few here that might solve the problem.

    A.) Firstly, I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode and check if you are able to boot without any problems, safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed that, follow these steps to start the computer in safe mode with networking:

    To restart the computer using safe mode, restart the computer and press the F8 key for about four to five times. Appears in safe mode listed in the advanced options of Windows. Select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

    (B) I suggest that you perform a clean boot on your computer, to help troubleshoot error messages and other issues; You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    (1) perform the clean boot (check the link to perform the clean boot)

    (2) enable half the services

    (3) determine whether the problem returns

    (4) enable half of the startup items

    (5) determine if the problem returns

    (6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the issue

    After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7 of article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

    (C.) I suggest that you perform a scan of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer, the scan replaces the failed system of files with the original files from version of Windows on the computer system, follow the steps below to perform a scan:

    I suggest to empty the temp folder and later, follow these steps:

    i. Click Start > type % temp % in the start search box > press on enter > delete everything present in the temp folder.

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    3. at the command calls, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

    When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Microsoft Update continues to request updated KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880, after that install and says it's successful. I tried to install 4 times.

    I tried to install the update of the files KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880 four times after whenever I would say it was well built. When I went to search for files to delete files before you try to download the files again and reinstall it using the Add/Remove on my Windows XP SP3, I was unable to locate the files. The only way I found to fix this was to remove the registry entries manually using regedit and use the file search feature and delete the files I found manually so. Then I had to update windows to inform instead of automatic download. I tried the Fix Center file also although did not. I can't locate these files to download on either windows update page.  If these files exist and need to be installed then I expect that Microsoft's COMPUTING service get this fixed a problem. My computer is a home based upon a business Edition step.

  • IE crashes when you try to install Microsoft Update

    I'm using XP w/SP3 installed.  Windows update works fine and I've installed all the updates available; However, when I try to change to Microsoft Update, I hear the blip to allow ActiveX must be installed, but IE is frozen and does not display the bar or shows only a part of it.  I have disabled all add-ons and run more of the FixIt for IE and update options.  I have also reset Windows Update by using the FixIt and also manually re-register dll update involved.  I use IE 8 and have re-installed two times - no change in problem.  Is it possible to manually install the required ActiveX for Microsoft Update, or I can find and manually install updates for Office for this system?

    McAfee (and Norton) applications are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. Even if things seem to be OK now, I highly recommend doing the following to avoid any problem (for example, during the installation of the updates of security this month over the next week).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ACTIONS:
    [You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. [If a step said to restart, restart!]
    1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).
    3. After completing some, you have a copy of your key of handy product, uninstall McAfee Total Protection via Add/Remove Programs, restart to a command prompt.
    4 IMPORTANT! -Online enable WF immediately after the reboot!
    NB: Now you're "working without a net": do not to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation reading E-mail; cat) until you have finished step #7 below!
    5. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.
    6. do a clean install of McAfee Total Protection (using your product ID, if need be) & restart. If you purchased the software directly from McAfee, go to https://home.mcafee.com/Secure/Protected/Login.aspx to connect and download your software.
    7. manually and repeatedly updated McAfee application until you get one invite "no updates more".
    8. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.
    9. IMPORTANT - DON'T SKIP THIS STEP! Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 from => and run the automated troubleshooter from end to end. [1]
    10. restart once again.
    11. open Internet Explorer (only!) at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Select CUSTOM and scan | Install the available security updates. Follow all the instructions.
    -Online if an update of root certificates is listed under the category of updates software optional on the left side of the window of scan results, install it to enjoy greater security of IE8.
    -Online Tip: do NOT install any other updates software optional or any updated material in option .
