Try to change user profile

Change the computer of my wife to mine.  During the change of user account and the profile of the user, I get a popup saying "authorizations" I can't copy info permissions of C:\users\constance to C:\users\duane.  'Duane' accounts and 'consistency' both have administrator privileges.

What should I do now?

Hello

Have her sign her account and move the files in the \public directory. Either that or you connect to the account by default in safe mode and move them. You could go through the hassle of change permissions or take ownership, but the other options are much easier. If you wish, see: http://www.vista4beginners.com/Change-permissions-take-ownership

  • Windows continues to change user profile folder

    Hi all

I'm facing a real headache. My computer continues to change user profiles folder every restart 2 or 3. For example, my user name is MSF\Bob. The user profile folder has been C:\Document & Settings\Bob. After a restart, Windows create a C:\Document & Settings\Bob.MSF then Bob.MSF.000 and Bob.MSF.001 folder and so on.

Someone has an idea why this is happening and how I can prevent this?

I thank very you much in advance!

    Best regards

Easy question to answer.  You simply have a corrupted profile.

When Windows detects a corrupted profile, it automatically generates a temporary with names profile as you describe.  Usually, these profiles are deleted when you connect your computer turned off, but not always.  The solution is quite simple.  You just need to recover your corrupt profile.   There are two general approaches.  One is to do a system restore to a point in time before the profile was first damaged.  The other usually involves the creation of a new user and moving profile data on to the new user (you may reset some of your settings).  To do this, choose one of the following articles and follow through:

    Hi Pete Spong

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers Forums!

I would like to ask you a few questions to help focus in the right direction:

Since when you receive this error message? Have you made changes to your system?

    Try the following steps:

    Step 1:

Put the computer in a clean boot (namely if any third-party software hinders the process)

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Check with step 1 (run a clean boot):-If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

(Note: after find you the problem causing the program, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program and also don't forget to put the computer to a normal startup)

    Step 2:

Install this update if it is not already installed on your computer and check.

    Hello

What you see in system properties / user profiles window is normal. It shows the name of the computer + your user account name.

You can change your user account name.

Press the Windows key + X to display the System Menu , and then click Control Panel.

Select the user accounts , then click on the option change the name of your account .

One thing that you must be aware, is that, even if you change your account name, the only place where you can see the new name is on the Log In screen and the start screen. All of your user files will still show the old name in the file Explorer.

  • lost my win 7 with her user profile has my FF favourites, can I get them back somehow?

Somehow, I lost my user profile in Windows 7 64. He did not come when I try to change user and I can't log off the current user account as it is the only one on the pc now. But, when I go into the users folder in the c drive, I can see my old profile and all its folders and files and programs, but I can't find a way to get you to connect on it. Then... I just took all the files and put them on my new profile... no problems except that now... when I clicked on FF to see if the pc to connect to the internet, it was as if I had just downloaded for the first time and all my bookmarks disappeared. Could all be still hidden somewhere on my PC? as in the programs on the c drive folder? or are they just disappeared, erased somehow? I don't remember what I did but I was in safe mode, and I think I clicked on create a group or a working group and the pc look like it was downloading something. now my old profile is locked up and this news is in its place, everything is identical with the exception of Fire Fox and my favorites.
    Also Note *.
I'm on my new job here at work PC, the pc in question is my old pc work at home at my house.
    Thank you!

In fact, I fixed it myself last night. I found all my old files Fire Fox and my favorites were there so I was able to import my new profile.

I used a small Windows search tool I downloaded awhile there is its called 'Search all' and I typed in "Mozilla" and it pulled up all Mozilla on my pc, I clicked then through files until I found this one with the backup book marks in it. I copy and pasted the path to the file in the import screen of Fire Fox book marks and click ok and then boom, they were there. Then I made a copy of this info and place it in a folder on my desk top in case never happens again I will not have my wife calls me at work at 7:30 asking where his bookmarks are lol!

  • Computer screen laptop black after changing user or shutdown.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 on an Acer Extensa 4420.  I had problems with my laptop screen.  Whenever we try to change user or shut down the computer, the laptop screen does not illuminate.  I tried something I read on the internet, where you remove the battery and unplug the unit and then put the back and reboot and it worked for awhile but is less consistent.

I am currently using the computer with an external monitor connected.  I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card and that didn't make a difference.

    ·         Using a VPN connection?

    ·         What type of internet connection you have?

    ·         Who is the manufacturer of the graphics card?
