Try to reformat the drive - disk is write protected

Hello

I'm trying to reformat an audio CD. Is this possible? When I go to my computer, select the D: drive, and then click format, the format window opens. When I click Start, it says that the disk is write protected. Is there a way to change this? I can burn DVDs and CDs without problem, as well as read them.

I am running Windows Home Premium 64-bit with a read/write DVD super multi drive.

OEM is the entry door. I've updated all my drivers, scanned my system for viruses using Norton Internet Security, also conducted an analysis of rootkit the gum power of Norton. Nothing found. SFC has not found any problem.

Could someone please help me with this?

Thank you!

Mithrandir

# You can not format/re-use any CD/DVD other rewritable those once the session is closed - and with an audio CD you can play in a CD player - it is closed, no doubt.

  • Try to reformat the drive letter but Pavilion 5200 t is disabled

I have a desktop Pavilion d5200t with an operating system upgraded to Windows 7 that must be reformatted.  I want to delete all data and start over.  When I put the Windows 7 CD in the drive and go through install, I click the link Options of readers, but the C: drive, in which the operating system is installed, is disabled. that is, when I clicked Delete options and reformatting are inactive.  How can I get rid of this player.  Or, if I just leave it alone and let it all to backup windows.old, I could then just delete this folder.  I always felt that it was not a clean install.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello:

I've never had a problem, the way Windows.old.

It's as good as a clean install, unless you have a virus nasty on the partition, but even in this case, it's probably in windows.old.

It is useful a clean install.

When you are finished and you have copied all the files from the windows.old folder that you want to copy to the new installation, just run Disk Cleanup utility and click the box of system files at bottom left of the window that opens your folder windows.old to check and delete, to correctly remove the cleaning windows.old folder.

And then defragment the disk since this folder has probably left a big "hole" in your file structure.

  • I bought a SANDISK CRUSER it IS GIVING MESSAGE THAT THE DRIVE IS BEING WRITE PROTECTED.

I bought a sandisk cruzer made 16 gb USB stick (black & red). Flipkart online store I bought March 28, 2013.

After three months, it was an error message "the drive is write protected another device to copy use." I am receving this message when I try to copy something into my USB.

So I asked these people to kart flip, they said that they warranty replacement for a single month. but this problem started after three months I bought it. and then sent to the people of sandisk also took all the necessary information about this.

But still its giving the same message now what should I do to get my USB drive replaced.

  • Once again... "" "scratch disks is write protected...". ' error message? -Mac

Recently I found this error message appear again, different from that of a previous post. "The"scratch disks"is write protected or unavailable. To open this project, the "scratch disks" will be set to your Documents folder. Do you want to continue? »

On our portable system Edition (Mac 10.6.8 CS 5.5) on some occasions when I plug a firewire drive, PP open, create a new project, I get the above message. When I click "Yes" to continue and open the Panel of projects all the disks scratch that I put for the disc show just that I had chosen them, not the documents folder. What gives? PP is looking for old projects, I created on different portable players, even if I'm not trying to open them (and they are not connected)? Seems strange.

Oops, I didn't read your initial post correctly.  The Scratch disk settings are stored in the preferences, and so if you do not have the last drive connected that you set as your Scratch disk when you exit the last, then you will get this message.

There is nothing wrong with that: your last drive selected is not available.  You see a message similar to the PCF, when you changed the external drives, or took the last than the one you used offline.

The 'write protected' part of the message refers to the situation caused by the permissions mentioned in my first answer.

I never chose to scratch disks (I don't capture Ribbon.), so I've never seen this message myself.

After you download El Capitan, I received the following error message when you try to install: the drive is not formatted in MAC OS extended (journaled). Use disk utility to enable logging or reformat the disc. Can anyone help? (My disk utility shows that she in MAC OS extended (journaled) format.)

It shows that it is Mac OS extended, not journaled. Click enable logging in the toolbar.

The thing you read is if you format the drive using the RAID settings you have selected. You have to look at the bottom of the window where it shows the Format.

  • Is there anyway I can reformat the drive G:\ in drive C:\

Original title: when I first set up full vista I gave windows 10 GB. Then, I divided the remaining 325 in C:\ & G:\__I readers GB and then divided the other readers in C:\(225GB) and the ball. Drive G:\.

I divided the 325 remaining in two disks c:\ GB (225 GB) and the balance to the drive G:\ (@100 F). I used the drive G:\ as a backup drive; However during a backup and a restore, I had 842 MB remaining, not enough for a backup or restore. Is anyway I can reformat the drive G:\ in C:\ driver (I backed up G to C, so it is not serious I need is more what's on drive G.)

    Hi flexiablehors1a,

You can try to delete the partition (G :) and extend it to the C: drive.)

Note: Back up your data to two drives (G: & C :) and remove a partition and extend the other Partition.

    Step 1:

    To delete a Partition

    a. open the control panel.

    b. click the Administrative Tools icon.

    c. click on computer management and click on continue in the UAC prompt.

    d. in the left pane, click disk under storage management.

    e. right click on the volume (G:\) you want to remove and click on delete the Volume.

    f. click Yes at the confirmation prompt.

NOTE: This will leave the partition as unallocated (empty) with no drive letter.

    Step 2:

    To extend a Partition

    a. right click on the partition (C:\) you want to extend in the now unallocated partition and click Extend Volume.

    b. click next to host to the Volume Wizard window extend.

    c. Select the amount of space in megabytes that you want to use from the unallocated partition to use to extend this partition.

    d. click Next and click on finish in the window end extend.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • In ultimate windows 7, when I want to paste or create a file on USB, windows says: the disk is write protected. ?

in Window 7 Ultimate. When I want to create a file or paste a file copied to a USB port or flash memory, windows cannot perform this action and the message: the disk is write protected.but when I used the same USB Win XP, disc is OK and not write-protected.
I tried this question on several USB key, but the result was the same.
    anydody can help me?

    Hi Saleh2506,

You can try and remove the disc, remove the write protection (by reversing a tab on the disk), and then try again.

If you do not have the valve on the USB, try the following steps to resolve the problem:

    1. Click Start , type regedit.exe and press ENTER.

    2. navigate to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrrentControlSet\Control

    3. control with the right mouse button and select new and key.

    4. call it as StorageDevicePolicies.

    5. click on StorageDevicePolicies and on the right pan right click and select new > DWORD and name it as WriteProtect.

6 double-click it and set its value to 0.

This will disable the write protection on USB/flash drives.

Restart your computer and check to see if that fixes the problem.

    Hello

What kind of DVD that you use to create a Toshiba Recovery disk? I have tried Verbatim DVD-R and TDK DVD-R and never had a problem with these discs. A friend tried DVD + R and he couldn t create a recovery disk. After he tried DVD-R and everything was fine but I do not know why this happened.
    So please try other discs.

Also, check the Toshiba page for an update of the firmware of the CD/DVD drive. Maybe it will help you.
