Trying to remove virus format hard drive - when booting from the Windows XP CD, don't teach me to press a button to proceed with the installation?

Trying to remove virus, need to format the hard drive to remove all programs to remove the virus.  I ran several security programs which has not found a virus.  Taken at Best Buy, they ran their programs, could not detect viruses, but said there are something certainly on my system.  System is pegged almost 100% all the time, so I can't really use the pc.

Reinstalling the operating system is usually not necessary to remove the malware, but if you're convinced that this is necessary (it is sometimes), this guide is a good:

http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

(this assumes that you have the appropriate Windows XP installation CD)

Of course, you will need to boot from the CD instead of the hard drive. This page explains that:

http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

You also need to install the hardware drivers. I hope that you have them on CD, too. If this is not the case, the web site of the manufacturer of PC should have them.

Since a clean install wipes EVERYTHING, you should have all your data copied beforehand.

How can I change lightroom 5 previews smart on the book of mac pro (mbp) when lightroom master image files 5 are on my external hard drive is disconnected from the mbp? So far when I try to disconnect the external hard drive the mbp, I get the pop following window: "external hard drive A" disc could not be ejected because it uses 'Lightroom '. Exit this application and try out this disc again. When I do that and restart Lightroom 5, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - screen select catalog appears, but does not list my external hard drive A as a choice.

I've been reviewing Adobe's Lightroom Help | Smart web page Previews Lightroom 5 and still have not been able to understand what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    HI Thomas,

Thank you very much for your suggestions! They finally gave me the direction I go solve the problems I had. Basically, the Mac Book Pro based Lightroom irdata files still had thumbnails. Once I removed the and redirected Lightroom external hard disk, smart previews of the external drive work when the player is well off the MBP. Much obliged.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to backup all the files content and related data of Lightroom that exists on the external hard drive to another external hard drive as a backup? Ideally, it would be great if I could be able to launch security HD since the Mac Book Pro and do the work of Lightroom with the backup image files and intelligent previews correctly. Thanks again. Your help has been invaluable.

Determine the manufacturer of HD computer. Go to the manufacturer's website and download their software/utility to check the Dowload HD it and burn it to CD or DVD according to the instructions. Boot from the disc newly manufactured. Run the utility to verify. If necessary, replace the HD and restore backups.

  • How do you Format C drive when it is the system drive.

I want to do a clean install of Windows 7.  The problem was obvious corruption in the boot sector.  It should be sometimes up to 1/2 hour of starting the system with a power indicator light flashes.  I did a reinstall of Windows 7, but the problem remains.  At first I thought it was a power supply problem.   But that was reduced to nothingness.   This computer is used for work only.  There are no other schedules.

When reinstalling Windows it deleted the old files and put them in a folder named Windows.old.  So, apparently, is not wiping the drive clean.  I want to be able to wipe the drive and reinstall to a bare drive.  BTW, I also had the error message 0 x 80070005.

I want to just start clean.  Resettlement of not not more than two or more previous versions of Windows 7.

    Thank you

Drive K disappeared from my office. How can I get that back to use my. HP 500

    Hi Ron,

Don't you see the external hard drive listed in Device Manager?

You can also check if the hard drive is listed in disk management.

    a. click the Start button > Control Panel > system and security > administrative tools.

    b. double-click on computer management.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (c) in the left pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

Please post back and we do know.

Can anyone throw any light on what is happening on Earth on?

    Hello

There are various reasons why this error message:
In most cases this error because the laptop is trying to boot from a HARD drive or flash drive that is not configured correctly. Maybe the drive is not bootable or not compatible.

It would also be possible that some sectors on the HARD disk, HARD drive failures are corrupt or BIOS is damaged. NTLDR error messages may also appear if the master boot record is damaged.

In your case I recommend that you format the first HARD drive before booting from the hard drive CD7DVD external using Win XP CD.

By the way: you must add SATA driver to CD Win XP using nLite.
The SATA driver is placed on the European driver Toshiba page in the Intel Storage Manager

The SATA driver is needed to recognize the HDD by Win XP!

  • Format HARD drive, delete the recovery partition and recover with disc

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite C660D-17F and want to format my HDD, remove the recovery partition and recover the preinstalled Windows 7 and other software. I don't want to keep my own data, which are all stored already, I just want to be sure I can safely restore preinstalled stuff. I have a few questions that I need help to clear up before I go ahead.

Am I right in thinking the dvd recovery disc I made when I got to my laptop has all the software and drivers that I need on this subject, the same that would have the recovery partition? If I do another room to spare in now just to be sure only will they have the out-of-box default stuff: OS, software and drivers on any of my data?

I found [this post | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/71] which explains the recovery process. If I select "Erase the hard drive" (so I can wipe my hard drive and delete the recovery partition too) what happens after that? It will restore the OS and the software for the backup of dvd drive? Will the process after that recreate a recovery partition (which I don't)?

    Added SIDENOTE:
I actually prefer to be able to choose what programs preinstalled settle after that I have format, but I'm guessing that probably isn't possible and will settle for install everything and remove what I'm after. Or is there a way?

Sorry, I know that was a long post, but I want to be sure of what will happen BEFORE I'll and spoil things! :) If you got this far, thanks for reading. :)

    Hello

I will try to offer help. ;)
    > Am I right in thinking the dvd recovery disc I made when I got to my laptop has all the software and drivers that I need on this subject, the same that would have the recovery partition?
Yes. Saved on recovery discs recovery image contains the operating system, all necessary drivers, specific Toshiba and utility tools and some additional software.
    > If I do another room to spare in now just to be sure only will they have the out-of-box default stuff: OS, software and drivers on any of my data?
Preinstalled Toshiba Recovery creator make recovery disc that includes the recovery image only. It has nothing to do with your personal data.
    > I found this post that explains the process of recovery. If I select "Erase the hard drive" (so I can wipe my hard drive and delete the recovery partition too) what happens after that?
After that, you should use recovery disks created for the recovery image installation.
    > Will the process after that recreate a recovery partition (which I don't)?
When you use the recovery disc for your laptop recovery image installation will have factory settings which include the recovery saved on the HARD disk image. To be honest I do not understand why you do not want to have this recovery image on the HARD drive. This allows the installation of recovery using recovery of HARD drive option. But of course you can delete it later for more free space on your HARD drive. Installation image that you can always use created for recovery discs-recovery DVDs.
    > I'd really rather be able to choose what programs preinstalled settle after that I have format, but I'm guessing that probably isn't possible and will settle for install everything and remove what I don't want after
    Fix.

  • Can not turn HARD drive restore or create the restore on Satellite A135-S4727 disc

    Hello

I have an A135-S4727 (Pentium dual core, 2 GB of ram, windows vista, 160 GB HDD).
Recently, I decided to use my HARD drive recovery funtion to restore OTB ' cos I wasn't satisfied
the way I use my hard drive.
My system did not come with a recovery disk and recovery disc creator software (I checked it when I arrived but)
has been re-insured by the fact that the hidden partition has been and is still intact)
I just thought that I would start from the hard drive recovery console, whenever I needed.
I tried to do this for always (now pressed zero, hit) but it boots to windows in any case.

I am so angry and frustrated rite now ' cos I am out of warranty and do not know why I should come on a forum to find a way to restore my laptop.
I googled the web for 2 days now and nothing other than similar complaints found...
    Toshiba... (X-)
The right and the ability to restore its system is a given... (unless you plan to charge us a pc falls down for reasons every time you guys don't even know most of the time)

Please someone end to this nightmare and tell me what to do and how...

    Boyfriend sorry but to be honest I put t understand you complaint;
The newest series of laptops is not delivered with the recovery disk but is equipped with Toshiba HDD recovery option.
This option can be used to retrieve the laptop computer from the HARD disk, and there is also an option to create the recovery disk.
This recovery disk can be used if something goes wrong with the HARD drive or partition from the image on the HARD drive.

It s highly recommended to create the recovery DVD!
And this info is in the manual of the user who is always pre-installed on the laptop!
I also found this info here in the user manual that can be consulted online on the Toshiba page we (the Satellite A135-S4727 is a laptop in US)

Check it out here * 56, page of the user guide: *.
    [Satellite A135-S4727 Manual: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1757708& rpn = PSAD0U & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663 & odel selM = 1757708% 7CPSAD0U #]

Here you will find details how to create the recovery disk.
I put t know how you manage a unit bought new but if I buy a new device, then the first I do is consulted the user manual that comes with this device.

In any case; I think you can order a new disc of recovery of the ASP in your country

    Good bye

  • Using a Mac to partition a USB external hard drive to use to start Windows 7 on a PC

    Hello

My PC hard drive died recently, and I need to reinstall Windows 7. Fortunately, I have a Windows 7 .iso file on my Macbook Pro. I also have an external hard drive USB empty. I try to use the Mac (in particular the disk utility program) partition this hard drive and load the .iso file in it, with the intention to start the system and install Windows 7 on my PC. (NB. I have a new internal hard drive which I intend to install Windows on to, but it's something that I should be able to handle later and should not be relevant at the moment.)

As my DVD player also decided to break (I had not used for a long time), I can't burn the .iso to disk image file and start that way.

So my question is, what is actually in all possible ways to use my WD 500 GB external hard drive to boot Windows 7 from USB? If so, is it possible to configure the hard disk with the .iso image file using a mac? I think I need somehow do "bootable" my hard drive to boot from it, but I don't know how to do this using a mac, so that it will be compatible for Windows startup.

I've had this problem for days now and nothing I try seems to work - I tried what seems like all combinations of formatting, partitioning, extracting, BIOS-set-up-ing and file-system-change I can think of. Any help will be really appreciated. Also, if you need information such as specifications, just let me know and I will try to provide all the details I can.

In addition, I understand that there a lot of messages on the boot from external hard drives, but I looked carefully and found nothing for my situation (more precisely using a mac).

Thanks in advance for help; If all goes well there is something obvious that I'm missing that I can fix it easily.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

From your problem description, I understand you want to make bootable Windows 7 disk using Mac computer.

About a tool to burn an iso image on Mac, I suggest you contact apple support.

    https://discussions.Apple.com/community/desktop_computers

However, as a solution, I suggest to go to one of your friend who has the operating system windows download Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool and burn the iso image.

Detailed suggestions are mentioned in the following article:

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

I hope this helps. If the problem persists or all linked windows queries or issues related to the Windows operating system, please get back to us. We are here to help you.
