The only notable thing is that the trainer uses a Mac version of the software. Help!

  CS4 is 6 years old and more.  Much has changed in the web standards and Dreamweaver since then.

• Conversion of a MS Expression Studio Dreamweaver Web site

  My website, www.mrelativity.net was designed by me in 2002 using MS FrontPage.  Over the years I updated to the latest software of design site Web MS ending by the current Expression MS s Studio Microsoft no longer supports any of these applications to Web site design.  It would be easy to convert my site must be hosted on a windows server to a Dreamweaver Web site?  And, is the Dreamweaver application similar to the MS Expression Studio in use, or I have to go through a process of training all along.  Note: The content of the Web site would not change.

  Are there web sites designers that make these kinds of conversions, and if so, what would be the cost?  In the latter case, please understand that, in the end, I must be able to manage and update the website myself, without any additional help.

  I don't sugar coat everything.  DW assume you have at least a rudimentary knowledge of the basics of design & web code in HTML, CSS, and to a lesser extent JavaScript.   The GUI in DW to do many things without even looking at the code.  But for the advanced features, you need to work with the code from time to time.

  SERVERS: DW does not care that you use the servers.  For static HTML files, it is not much either.

  • Win plans of IIs costs slightly more than Linux.
  • Win has a panel of Plesk IIs.  Linux has a C-Panel.
  • Win IIs supports ASP.net code while Linux supports PHP code.

  FTP: DW can FTP the files to your server remotely on your local hard drive, & vice versa.

  Simply define a Site going on Site > new Site. Say DW where you want to store your files from local site. Example: C:\yourSiteName.

  Under servers, enter your FTP credentials & root directory (this varies depending on the provider).

  I use Dreamweaver CS3. I recently got a new hard drive for my MacBook, and after that I got the new hard drive, I can't load my files in Dreamweaver on my server. He said: "before using this feature, you must define a site which contains the selected files. You want to book one now? "I have already defined the site however. I downloaded many files before on my old hard drive, for some reason any after this new hard drive I had problems. Also when I go in Manage Sites and select the local root folder: "Site to live", which is the same folder, it will not show the index.html file and all other files do not appear, but if I go to this folder through my hard drive, all the other files are there. I don't really understand that this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  Hey, Gressa. Welcome to the Adobe user forums!

  According the information you have provided to us, the source of your problem may be that the name of your hard disk has a space at the beginning of this one.

  That would be the reason why you could not remove the space: because it is actually part of the name.

  What I would recommend is to quit Dreamweaver and then rename the drive to remove the space left. (Change "Macintosh HD" on "Macintosh HD").

  Because Dreamweaver has "gotten used to" the path to space at the beginning, when you open it then you might get some errors on your site. If you do, then follow the instructions to correct the error. (E.g. go to the folder of your local site root)

  After these initial errors correction, see if things are working properly.

• Folder in the Dreamweaver - DW site chooses wrong location

  Over the last 10 years, I've seen a lot of weird bugs in DW, but this one is by far the most confusing.

  I just installed Win 7 and I took the chance to do a fresh install. It meant reconfiguring all my sites the Dreamweaver.

  In the reconstruction of my local hit, I discovered that whenever I chose a local folder for a website instead of the folder being the local in DW, one immediately above it would be chosen insead.

  At first I wrote chalk user error and do things in a hurry, but then I realized it was DW that.

  I found a quick solution that inolved drilling to a subdirectory and choose this one. DW will then choose the parent directlory folder of the site. Easy, but also troubling. What else will wreong?

  In the cases above is unclear, here's a step by step:

  Access the Sites == > manage sites

  Click on "Local root folder".

  Navigate to the directory 'my sites '.

  Open Directory of websites "ClientSite.

  Click "choose".

  Now in "local root folder" I see this:

  D:\My Websites\

  Instead of

  D:\My Websites\ClientSite

  If I do the same thing but instead I drill down to:

  D:\My Websites\ClientSite\images

  then in "local root folder" I see now:

  D:\My Websites\ClientSite

  Is this weird or what?

  Incidentally, the same applies to the folder of images and in each other the local site DW interface dialog box

  Yes, this is a known bug that Adobe will fix soon hopefully.  It happens in Win7 and I understand as well under Vista.

  Two solutions of workaround: type in the correct folderpath in the window field to browse manually or choose a folder level 1 below your real goal - DW will mess it up just right then!

• Test layout dialog Server Manage Sites

  The testing server in the advanced settings of the dialog Manage Sites apply to a remote test server? It must be because when you click on it you are not given all the options such as LAN or FTP.   A test server can be local or remote. Most of us use our computers for development as the test servers, but it can be configured differently.

  The Advanced tab does not define the location of the server. Which is under the servers tab, where you can specify the Local, FTP or Webdav to any server, test or not.

  How can I change the order of the sites listed in the dialog box to manage Sites?

  Sites are always sorted by alphabetical order in the dialog Manage Sites.

  If you want to re - arrange one of your existing sites, we suggest that rename you them correctly.

• Import of existing in using Dreamweaver Web site

  What is the good method to download an existing Web site and import it into DW where all image links, CSS, etc. working properly?

  I downloaded a website available via Filezilla on my hard drive.  DW, I went to manage Sites > New and browsed the site.  When I open the index.html page in DW, images, and links are not bind properly.  When I download it to a folder of test on my server (e.g. www.soleproductions.com/happykids/), if I click on a navigation link, it takes me to www.soleproductions.com/bouncers.index.html instead of www.solproductions.com/happykids/bouncers.html.

  I also tried to create a new site with site management, set the FTP in DW and connect to the computer remote and 'GET' the Web site files to download to my hard drive.  Same results.

  I even tried to create a new Site in DW, open windows Explorer and drag and drop in DW, but that has not worked as well.

  I've recently spent Golive to DW and am still learning the differences on how to do what I know how to do in GoLive.

  You need to change all the links that were previously created. You can do this manually, or let the DW to do this for you. Start with the original files in the root of the local site. Create the happy children subdirectory. Then in the DW file panel, move the files from the root to the subdirectory. DW invites you to update the links.

• Manage Sites - extremely slow to open for editing

  I do not understand why, but in the last two weeks, when I go to "Manage Sites" and click on edit, it takes forever to open the site. I have a new machine too... only 4 months, so I don't think it's that... everybody that experience and that fixed it.

• Manage Sites window is blank after upgrade. How can I tell Dreamweaver where are the files to my site?

  Running Dreamweaver on CC. I updated yesterday and now when I go to 'Manage the Sites' the window is empty. In the local files on the right side window, it shows all my folders starting with "Computer" as the root. I really want to avoid having to add to each site (with the news server etc.). I can't see an .ste file in one of the site folders. Nothing appears in the preferences that will allow me to set the path to the folder that contains all the files of my site. Can anyone help?

• Display Site tutorial Dreamweaver CC in IE11 errors

  Hi all

  Have recently begun to tackle Dreamweaver CC thanks to this tutorial:

  I am a beginner here, but I do really well with this series of tutorials - until I started to test the site in IE11.  So far I used my Chrome browser default and all showed perfectly.  I even went to begin to produce my own pages with some success (these pages by displaying the same way in IE11, can provide details if necessary).

  I tested for my own tutorial PAGE consolidates and filled pages provided with the tutorial and when they appear in IE11 navigation bar appears shifted vertically as a series of steps (see screen attached grab).  I did dig as much as I can, but cannot find any solution.  The code looks good (HTML and CSS) as far as I can tell from a perspective of novices, and it displays well in Chrome, but not IE11.

  I guess it's something to do with the CSS code, specifically the attributes of float, but would like to see that any idea that I don't really know enough to make an informed comment.

  I have not attached any code that everything is available from the link above tutorial.

  Either incidentally, edge Adobe fonts do not seem to load either, but that's a secondary concern at the moment (except if she turns out to be part of the same problem).

  Let's check what is IE mode (I think you might have accidentally changed to "Compatibility Mode").

  To separate, I use the function to manage the Site on Dreamweaver CS6.

  But when I open the file using Windows Explorer, I got my old version of the code. And when I open the same file using Dreamweaver I got my latest work.

  And yet one thing, always when I open Dreamweaver CS6 several hours, my CPU fan is so loud, it will be fine again when closing Dreamweaver.

  Check the settings of your site server. It is same as defined by you at the first time when the definition of the site.

  Try the Site cache recreate: select your site > Site Menu > advanced > recreate Site Cache.
