TVN in mce 2002

I can't find any support for HDTV. Got a new WinTV 2250 and hd channels work fine in theWinTV7 app, but can't get any hdtv anything in media center. I have sp3 and if I understand correctly, this should have provided a library with some hdtv options.

Mark, SP3 added nothing for Media Center.  MC updates were driven separately, usually updates from update rollup (or, sometimes, the smaller patches).
If you really use Media Center 2002, then he is not (and will never) ATSC support for you - who have not been added up to the Rollup 1 for Media Center 2005.  Checkthis list for more details on what has been added when.

To see what version of MC that you run (Note: this is not the same as your version of Windows):
Launch of MC.  Go to settings > general > about > software version (IIRC - it's been a little while since I ran an XP w / MC machine.)
Note the reported software version and compare that to the list of the version I linked to.
Report with the results.

And a question: you try to get digital channels via antenna or cable?  MC for XP is not Clear-QAM (unencrypted digital cable) support in any version.  There may be a circumvention of Hauppauge app to make MCE2k5 (RU1 or higher) think that it is an ATSC tuner, however.

HTH,
Chris

  • Change the product key: MCE 2002 installed. MCE 2004 available button

Hello.  I had brought my PC repair; they have reinstalled MCE 2002 and a key that "they" (disc vs the OS that I gave them...).  I had initially MCE 2004 installed on the system.  I have the disc of BONE and the MCE 2004 product key.

    (a) should even be concerned about the upgrade to MCE 2004 on 2002/all advantage (as I REALLY don't want to reinstall the entire OS)?
    (b) given that the operating system is the MCE 2002 currently; I assume I shouldn't update the product key unless I am change the operating system to MCE 2004 (see link): http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PKUInstructions.aspx
    (c) for the operating system reinstalled repair shop, they need not make a RAID 0 configuration (which existed previously).  When the PC starts up, if I change this in the configuration of the PC, do I need to reinstall the operating system (sorry to put this question here...).

The product key update tool does not work beyond the limits of liberation - and does not in all cases with MCE.

As says Sandeep - your best course of action is complain volubly shop and force them to do the job you requested in the first place, or give you a refund.

  • How to make XP MCE 2002 to Vista to Windows 7?

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 but have MCE and won't make a clean start, so wanted to migrate to Vista, but just found out that I have XP Media Center Edition 2002. Other discussions at the forum say MCE 2005 should have been downloaded with SP2, and yet I'm under SP3 and don't have no improvements.

    HelloDMackB,

Installation of Service Pack 2 does not to level the Media Center edition on your computer. There is no way to upgrade from Windows XP Media Center 2002 to Windows Vista.

I suggest that you buy a copy of Windows 7 retail and do a clean install, as the upgrade through Windows Vista is a difficult process and no upgrade available from Media Center 2002 to Vista. • Windows XP without Media Center MCE?

    Hello

My uncle has an old PC that has Windows XP MCE 2005.
Ater a problem with its GFX, he brought a repair guy, who changed the GFX and re-formatted everything.
It seems to have reinstalled XP MCE 2005, but I can't find anywhere Media Center.
I tried to find the installation files from the recovery/windows XP cd, but none of the exe files appear to be.
    Any ideas?
The version says that Windows XP MCE 2002 and SP2 is installed as well. (Which has been confusing because the disc says 2005 and 2002, said the PC, but after some reading, I realized 2005 is just 2002 with Service Pack 2)
The brand of computer is Medion, similar to the model, I don't remember, but it's a fairly old machine.
I also have the recovery DVDs of Medion which, once started inviting the Windows XP installation.
I was expecting just don't not to re - install everything again.
Is it possible to lift the Media Center and running? I tried everything to my knowledge and that you still can't find a way to do this.

The first thing you need to switch your system to XP Service Pack 3, you can download and install from here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

About your Media Center, you see it written anywhere, once you click Start > all programs?

A check more than you could do:

    1. click on Start > run.
    2. type %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe and press return (enter key).

    Media Center opens for you?

I don't have much experience with XP Media Center versions. One thing I know about this version of XP is that it was probably distributed only through OEMS. As far as I KNOW, if you reinstall XP Media Center, Media Center program should be listed under the option all programs in your Start menu. If it is not this way, the most likely cause for this would be a bad installation of the operating system. Do you have the means to contact your manufacturer and see if that's what it should be in your computer as well?

If you want to do a clean install of Windows XP, here is a good tutorial on how to do it. It has screenshots as well. Take a look:

    Hi Jim,.

The question you posted would be better suited in the TechNet Forums. I would recommend posting your query in the TechNet forums.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • XP Media Center Edition became totally unstable in the last weeks 3 - to ehrec.exe CPU usage spikes and it stops responding.

I use this Dell original XPS systems is Windows XP MCE 2002 for 5 years now. The machine is fully patched and all drivers are up to date.

A symptom is that it will start a program at 7:00 pm registration and registration of the status bar icon always displays this name of program even if by 21:00, it should have recorded 3 other programs and began a 4 t at 21:00. When it does this the minute 30 original program will be more than 2 hours of broadcast recorded on the original channel tuner would not turn stations by the configuration of the scheduled recording.

ehrec.exe go out randomly to a State where it uses all the CPU resources available without using more memory or to all disk reads or writes. This will normally make ehshell.exe become desensitized and seem to be hung up in taskman. Doing an endtask on ehrec make ehshell to resume working properly. kill ehrec but may end up trashing all current record. I tried the solutions suggested on other forums (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\EPG purge and empty the E:\Recorded TV\TempRec directory), they have not helped and basically just made me have to reconfigure the program guide. I record only out of local air HD broadcasting stations.

I tried to apply again the Rollup2 patch that was published several years with the hope that run a subsequent manual WindowsUpdate would repatch all but which did not help. The machine has currently a Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA Tuner (single channel HD) tuner card is installed. The machine came with an Angel TvTuner (dual channel analog) tuner card. I use the HD map for more than a year.

I really don't want to move this machine to Win7, what other options can I try to do to return MediaCenter work properly again?

I tried all the suggestions above and nothing seemed to clear up the same problem for me. Then I found this proposal it was v4 framework recently developed as a Windows update that may have broken my Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on my HP box. http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/91307/471286.aspx#471286

I tried to uninstall the v4 of network and my Media Center works perfectly again since. Not sure if this is the only solution for the others, but of course, it worked on mine.

  • Restoration of secondary drives that are not not in my computer after XP

After the restoration of XP MCE 2002 SP3, my secondary drives are not listed under my computer.  They show in the management of disk as disk 1 and disk 2.  Both have the following status in disk management: Basic, online healthy (active).  When I right click on disk 1 or disk 2 the only option is to 'Delete Partition '.  I saved my data files on these disks before you restore XP (in C :).  How XP to assign the drive letters on these discs and to recognize in my computer without risking the data that is on it?  Thank you!

I don't know why or how, but now my secondary data disks have drive letters and are listed in Explorer / my computer.  I tried to use PartiionMagic of Norton, but that provides no way to assign drive letters.  It's probably a coincidence, but I've also reinstalled Norton GoBack, although I disabled it immediately to run PartitionMagic.  The key is that I have now both of my back of data disks and I am on my way to restore my data!  YES!

  • I am running Windows XP. Can I upgrade to Windows 7?

    original title: can I upgrade

I am vascular under Windows XP MCE 2002 SP3 (Pentium 4, 3.4Ghz and 2.00 GB of RAM) and I own on my machine with Windows 7 if possible start and continue to use this computer as a nice backup. My concern is compatibility with other hardware. I downloaded the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, but it does nothing when I try to run it. So I'm not sure if I'm having hardware problems, move forward with other things like drivers and devices. I might very well be better off relaoding Windows XP if that is the case. • QUICKLY out-of-date

    Hello

I'm trying to move files and settings over the course of an old installation of XP MCE 2002 SP2 to a new installation of XP Professional SP2. I get an error message indicating that the QUICK version on my old machine is outdated so FAST on my new machine can not read the file it generates. I don't have a recovery media for the old machine, everything is more if there is somewhere I can get a 'current' version of QUICK to install on my old MCE machine to make it work?

Simple solution - use a Windows XP CD and run QUICKLY on both machines * CD *-this way, you use the same version on both machines.

In addition to this - you can upgrade both machines with this patch:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6c2f2318-CBDB-47C0-b7c2-77c4cc37a450&displaylang=en

And transfer your files.  The CD is just easier and more

    reliable.

  • Software Scanjet 4370

I know this might be an old scanner, but it used to work for my needs.  The scanner worked until I had a problem and contacted the HP Support for assistance.  They had me download and install version 9 of the scanner software.  Now I can't use the Solutions centre, to scan an image.  I have to use the buttons on the scanner.  The scanner works, but something in this software does not work.  I tried to uninstall all the programs HP Photosmart using Add/Remove, part of uninstalling Windows Installer Cleanup and download programs.  I thought I could use my original installation CD, but there's something blocking who settle down now.  I read several post, where people ask for help with their 4370 scanners, but it's not like they get answers.  This means HP has washed its hands of all the problems this scanner can have?

Basic question is "How to get the center of Solution to start to communicate with my scanner again?".

I always use an old HP a1637c PC running Windows XP MCE, if that's any help.

I think I finally met with success, get my Scanjet 4370 to work again.  After reading a lot of post about problems with the Solution Center, I sort of follow-up advice from the Chap (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-faxing-and-copying/Fixed-Scan-and-HP-Solution-Center/m-p/167957/highlight/true#M5130).  IT WORKED FOR ME, BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALL TO TRY IT.  Again, I have uninstalled all HP Scanner, used Windows Installer Clean up, and Add/Remove to remove everything I could find.  Then, I went into Program Files and renamed the old HP HP folder.  So, I restarted my PC.  This time instead of using the HP suggested COL11004 download or download from setup_full_G3010_4370, I installed the original my installation CD scanner software.  I could be using the Solution Center version 50.0.152.000 and Image Zone 5.0, but at least my scanner works from the center of the Solution, as previously.  Now all I have to do, is to try to prevent the HP Solution Center Update updates and things may work.

Still using the old HP Pavilion a1637c PC, Windows XP MCE 2002, SP3, Deskjet 930c printer and a scanner Scanjet 4370.
