• USB-232/2 shows the COM ports but not found resources VISA!

  I use an NI USB-232/2 interface to connect my OMEGA Engineering temperature controller to computer. The thermostat communicates with the computer via hypertermianl and the configuration of the OMEGA software, but can not be detected by OR MAX I've attached a screenshot of my MAX of NOR. I could see the two COM ports, but I can't see the VISA test Panel.

  My problem is similar to the post problem OR USB-232! I tried the solution for uninstall and reinstall NI VISA both NI Serial, but still does not.

  Version NOR VISA 5.4.1

• Matter of finding the resources function VISA after COM port disconnected

  I have an application in which I use two COM ports for communication, both only is active.

  Between testing a com port gets connected and disconnected dynamically. I am able to connect and disconnect without problem.

  Now after my com port dynamic disconnected, its not visible in device as Manager, but if I search all the com port available using VISA find resource once it disconnects, then dynamic port COM is also visible in the list.

  Name of the USB interface is USB Serial Port and the com port is dynamic which will be disconnected. VI attached

• COM + issues.

  I don't know if this is the area to ask this question. If it is not please let me know where I need this post.

  We have an application that installs on desktop to users who access a COM object + in the same machine auto. This COM object + access to another COM object + on a server, which is used to send emails. The two COM + are ours.

  A few days before our application lying around and it is not able to send emails. This problem is solved after restarting server.

  We checked the event logs in the users machine and the server but unable to find problems.

  Please let us know where we need to check, to find the cause of this problem?

• How to swap Com 1 and Com 2 assignments?

  I built both systems win7/32 using the same motherboard intel model. The boards have two com ports, a db9 and a slider to pins. My problem is that the com port numbers are reversed between the panels, for example the connector db9 on one map is com 1 com 2, Member of the Board. Intel tells me that it is a problem of Microsoft. I tried exchanging com 1 and com 2 in Device Manager, but the Exchange is not survive a reboot. How can I do this?

  I think I finally got in the Device Manager. The trick seems to be to do with a reboot between the two stadiums. Move the Com2 to an any other address/IRQ, restart, move Com1 to the old address to Com2 and restart. After the reboot, Com2 can be moved to the old address for Com1, and then exchanged assignments will stick without conflict.

  Thanks for your suggestions, Tom, unfortunately you're much smarter than my BIOS which is a global toggle ports.

• companyweb pulls up with a white screen

  Who with whom I work using a web company hosted by a SBS 2008 Server. I can access the companyweb with chrome or safari, but Firefox doesn't. The other two come with a white screen and then a box of authentication is asking for credentials. Firefox doesn't do this. She's just a white screen. It is not only my computer that does this. It seems that every Mac with Firefox. What's also weird is that Firefox for Windows works very well.

• Pavilion dv6000 OS?

  I am trying to restore this laptop to the original operating system is. The previous owner installed Win. 64 bit 7 prof.. I don't think it had a 64 bit OS initially. The sticker on the bottom, says Vista. But I don't know if it was the version 32 or 64 bit as the two come to the top in the HP driver download page. Problem I have is the Windows 7 seems glitchie and the wireless card does not work. As HP never installed Win 7 on this model I can't find the proper drivers.

  There is no use for this model restore disks. Appearantly restore files were on a hidden partition and the previous owner erased that with his Win 7 install.

  Any suggestions on what to do with this laptop? to make it work properly again?

• Communication series

  I'm using communications series VISA in my vi to communicate with the hardware. My laptop has two COM COM1 and COM2 ports. I'll be using VISA configure a serial port to set specific Com Port.

  COM port will be indicated by using the name of resource VISA. I should know the status of com before another operation takes place. IE say I chose com2 on behalf of the resource for the COM port configuration, but I connected the hardware serial cable on COM1. How can I know the difference? I tried the line of the error checking, but unfortunately his does give no error since the COM1 is present in the laptop.

  The idea would be to write * IDN? (or you can select the order based on the expected answer your device connected to COM port) command individually, to the COM port

  This should return the identification of the unit (or a known response) of the device connected to the COM port when trying to read the data for the number of available bytes to the port.

  If the returned string is empty (or not the expected answer) then that would mean that no device is connected to the COM port.

• VISA writing differs between TS and LV Run - Time Engine development agencies

  Hi all

  I made a request on LabVIEW to test the BERs (Bit error rate), and I used the Write VISA between two COM ports to Exchange data.

  Everything works great using just of LabVIEW.

  Later, I used TestStand to call my application (VI). Adapters of LabVIEW TestStand have been set by default on the development system , and everything works OK!

  Finally, I had to disable the development system and to define the types of adapters LabVIEW of TestStand for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and I noticed that the speed of the exchange of data between two COM ports significantly decreased.

  The only difference was the speed... because all data (changed slowly in this case) happened correctly on the other COM port too.

  The symptom was the same that decrease baud rate... but baud rate and all other configurations remained the same. The only difference was the change between the development system for the runtime to notice this reduced speed between the data exchanged using VISA Write.

  All the solutions for this?

  I'm sorry, I forgot to reply to this thread...

  Solution was change the way VISA WRITE of "asynchronous" to "synchronous" to book a thread just to WRITE visa.

  The problem here was something like this (?): TestStand used all available threads and when we wanted to WRITE of VISA, the thread has been busy and VISA would wait until the wire emerges. After changing to syncrhonous, there was a thread dedicated to this process (?).

  Now, everything works the same using LabVIEW Run-Time Engine or system deployment.

• Screen Samsung Syncmaster not right

  I just bought a new HP Pavilion with Windows 8.1.  He has a card NVIDIA GeForce GT 705.  I use two comes a HannsG HZ281 and a Samsung Syncmaster T260HD.  I can not get the correct display on the Syncmaster.  The HannsG is good at 1920 x 1200 (native), but the Syncmaster is disabled using native 1920 x 1080.  I can't find a way to make the right Syncmaster look.  The same two monitors were on my previous machine, and everything worked as it should.  Does anyone have a suggestion as to why the Hazel Syncmaster is now?  The HannsG is a DVI connection and the Syncmaster is a HDMI connection, exactly as it was on the computer Windows 7 HP.

  It is an update of my display problem.  Installation of a DVI - D splitter, such as recommended by HP technician has not solved my problem.  I could get the monitor2 HannsG 2 running at a resolution of 1920 x 1200, but I could not extend the desktop all the monitors.  It is not useful to have two monitors showing exactly the same thing.

  I decided to buy another graphics card identical to one I use at the office, running the same screens HannsG 1920 x 1200.  It works very well using a DVI - D and HDMI port, both running at 1920 x 1200 (native resolution) monitors, and the appearance on screen of text is greater than what I have now.  I found one on Ebay at a reasonable price and bought it.

  Given that I have to wait a week or two to get the card, and I had time to burn right now, I decided to do some more experiments with my current graphics card and monitors.  Long story short, I found a solution to get two monitors to run 1920 x 1200 with the extended desktop.  I tried many things and finally found (by trial and error) that if I plugged a HannsG until port DVI - D on the map and the second HannsG HDMI port, but with a HDMI adapter to DVI - D, then connected the adapter to the DVI - D on the second monitor port and manually set the second monitor DVI input (using the monitor built in adjustments via its Menu) , I was able to sove my display problems.  VOILA!  Note: the key to the second monitor (using the card's HDMI port) was to disable the function of automatic selection of entry of the monitor and lock it at the entrance, DVI using the selections menu the monitor's built-in (and this was a whole other bag of worms).

  The screen appearance is now satisfactory, but not as good as my desktop machine.   I can always swap the NVIDIA GeForce 705 in my computer now with the AMD ATI Radeon 7570, I bought on Ebay.  In any case, I learned at a suitable location with my monitors.

  I hope that HP will take note of what I have done and add it to their litany of canned solutions, that they pass on to their novice technicians.

  I'm managing a comprehensive program tester of LabVIEW, and I try to get the functionality in a field.  Our tested products use the serial communication, and 10: 00 using the DLE.  If we see 2-10 pm, we throw one.  I'm writing a node formula to handle this.  The conditions are: 1) appearance 1 to 10 hours, which is allowed to pass through; (2) presence of 2 to 10 hours, it is forbidden to pass through and there is replaced by a NULL character (0 h); and if 03 h is met (the second character of the 10 03 message trailer), 1-10 pm must precede 03 h.

  This is what I have so far (x = y = previous channel and z = output value hexadecimal value is a new value of hexadecimal string). The value of z is in a table, outside the formula node:

  z = 00;
  Else if (z == 00 & x == 03)
  z = 10 03;
  on the other
  z = x;
  end

  I get an error message - "error on line 4 is marked by a character ' # ': «(... x == 03) z = 10 # 03; Another z = x; e' ' I have no idea how to interpret.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  The attached extract gives you an idea of how this might work.  It does not represent a complete code solution.  It shows the basics of searching for a complete message (mine included a CRC concluding paragraph), then by removing a DLE whenever the two come together.

  Maybe this could be a starting point for your efforts.

• With the help of semaphore with a Global Variable - correct use?

  I looked in the use of global variables and in my case, it seemed with the help of a semaphore is the appropriate solution.

  In my case, I use a global variable to store the State of the system. Asynchronous two with screw environment (same VI) will follow two COM ports to see if they get a ' login:' command prompt. If the COM port is associated with Alpha, Charlie, or Echo, it increments by 1, and if it is associated with the Bravo, Delta, or Foxtrot, is incremented by 2 GV. If the GV is 3, the rest of the code will run. In this case, it must be a port COM A, C or E; the other should be B, D or F.

  A VI parent is called inside a loop. He works for the first loop. He never adds up to 3 on the second loop, however. I can't understand why. Please let me know if my code is a poor use of semaphores, or if there is debugging I can try.

  I'm still relatively new to LV, so I'm sorry if my screws are difficult to read. I created this in LV2011.

  Your right upper case structure does not run until your time ends in a loop.  The while loop does not stop until the total is equal to 3.  Where can increment you the world besides structures case you cannot yet?

  Have you tried in your point culminating execution of the VI in order to see how they are actually running?

  Another problem that I see.  Assuming that your first while the loop is going to end.  In the structures of your case, you lock the semaphore.  But you can never unlock the semaphore unless you have the right combination of conditions that allow you to get to the case that unlocks the semaphore.  The conditions are based on data that are read before the start of the case of structure, which means that data will not be read and changed until it all ends.  You have the timeout of your lock semaphore connected on one of the cases, but your semaphore lock can never timeout because you do not have a value on his entry time-out.  I think you have a situation where you can lock a semaphore, then arrive at a situation where you can not unlock, then wind locking up of your cold code.

  I don't really think that you need a semaphore at all.  I think you can protect reading and writing functional your overall using a global variable, i.e. the motor action.  Overall, I think you need to rethink the architecture of your code.

• Computer updates Cause either BSOD start or reboot continuously

  My problem occurs when I try to update my computer by using Windows Update.  The updates will download and install problem, but when I restart the computer as needed, things start to go wrong.  The first time I tried to update my computer, the computer would crash to the BSOD everytime I tried to start it.  It would break just before the Vista orb appears when starting upwards.  I used the installation disk to use system restore to restore the computer to the State it was in before the update.  I've tried so far my computer again.  The installation went well, but when I restarted my computer, the computer would have reached the stage of "Configuring Updates" - step 3 of 3 where it might go from 0% to 97% then restart itself and repeat the process.  I used the same method as before you restore the computer to its original state, but this time I came with several errors.

  First of all, two programs recently no longer work, I installed.  All their files are there, except the .exe files.

  Secondly, the network in the system tray icon has a red "X" next to it, and it gives the error "the dependency service or group could start."  However, I can always connect to my network, I am sure that what is actually wrong with it.

  Third, I get two errors when I start my computer.  These errors come Windows Defender and the other two come from Windows Problem Reports and Solutions.  Whenever I try to run a program I get an error: "0xc0000022: this program does not initialize."  Also, whenever I click the games button in the start menu, the Explorer window will open briefly, and then close without taking me in the Games folder.

  There are 20 update, I installed at the time which could have caused this.  They are:

  the problem is that the point is not defined when the page is created.

  There are many other possible solutions, but these two come to mind that the easier.

• Cursor flashing at reboot

  Got a blinking cursor every time that I reboot.  Tried recovery of images minmized which reformats, copies / restores the files on the hard drive, but when he says that the next step is to reboot, and I do, it freezes at startup (HP Logo, single line of pixels discolored at the top of the screen, Press esc to boot frozen in the lower corner options).  At this point, I reboot and I'm right back where I started.

  A way to check if it is a hardware problem or just a problem with recovery disks would be to try the following.

  If you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it's the version exact of the retail you need.

  If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO on a CD blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

  Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key Windows located on the underside of your laptop when requested and when the installation is complete use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM installations.
