Two Partitions of disk for both systems or running under Parallels

I have a 27 "Quad core i7 with 8 GB and 1 hard drive I partitioned the hd in 2 partitions: the boot partition has OS X-Yosemite and works very well. However there are occasions when I need to run OS X - Snow Leopard because some devices that I need to use are not compatible with Yosemite because there is no update for the OEM driver. Frankly I do not have the budget to upgrade the devices, so I need a workaround solution.  Is the drive of the 2 score or running 2 OS under Parallels the best solution? Help, please!

Thank you

Joe has.

If the system can operate in native mode of SL (outside of the virtual machine), there is nothing wrong with it.  I currently have a 480 GB SSD with 240 GB Mavericks and my original SL on another partition of 240 GB.  You have to keep 2 backups, one for each system, but that is expected.

On the other hand, if you want both running at the same time, use VM.

VM is usually a puzzle that I reserve for Linux and Windows that need special 'hooks' to run on an Apple and are easier to exploit, because I didn't need "both running simultaneously.

  • How to use the script "click menu item" command on a menu item for an application that runs under another user?

    Hey everyone, quick question...

I am trying to run this script:

    say application "System events".

    say process of "iTunes."

click on menu item "Start Station" from the menu 'Song' to menu bar item 'Song' in the menu bar 1

    end say

    end say

The idea behind this is to start a song selected currently playing station. I know, it's not hard to do it manually, but I want to be able to do it without having to call the iTunes app to the front. Now, this script works for my own iTunes app, but I have a second instance of iTunes connecting the second user on my computer at home (User2), with its own separate library and account and all. script I have works fine for an instance of iTunes under my user account, but I can't figure out how to specify which instance of iTunes, I'd like the script to work on.

I want to emphasize as an FYI that i use.

    the shell script "connection f User2 /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes > & - 2 > & - &" with administrator privileges

-to open my second instance of iTunes as User2

is there a way to change the "process"iTunes"to say" something like 'process 'unix ID' say' and have the ID for each respective instance of iTunes unix?

Let me know if I do not make sense... Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

You can target a process of application using various properties of system events, for example:

    tell application "System Events"
tell first item of (get application processes whose unix id is 15174) -- or whatever id
activate --> needed when using GUI scripting
        get properties
      end tell
    end tell

  • Prerequisites for reentrant SubVIs to run in parallel

    Hello!

In my VI, two clones préallouées of a Subvi, I thought I would go in a separate thread of each. Just this sub - VI contains a reference to a double and it increments. The two clones ran in parallel, but not in separate threads. For comparison, I did a Subvi, which does not have a reference - these clones run each in own thread.

I noticed this watching the CPU usage: in the first case, has been used as a single core in the second respectively two sons were used.

    (1) I wonder what are the prerequisites for a Subvi to run effectively not only in parallel, but in fact in separate threads?

    (2) is there a way to discover during compilation which (Tufts) parts of a VI run in parallel, and SubVIs get making their own thread of execution?

For reference: the execution is slow. If I understand correctly, the GUI is running in its own thread, so no interfering only not with the SubVIs that multiply references. I think that there is also no locking a reference readings and writings to a reference should be very fast. Is this correct? If so, why is this slow running?

    Thanks for your replies

    Marco

(The test computer has a Quad-Core with Hyperthreading, using LabVIEW 2012SP1)

One thing I know is if you have any manipulation of the UI elements.

In the case you use a reference to a UI element user and properbly using the property node to insert data.
This limits LabVIEW for your sub vi of in the UI thread.

If you have transferred the values on the queue to a vi that manages all the user interface controls, then only that vi will be in the UI thread.

  • Minor problem with the New Installation of Windows 7 on my Inspiron E1705/9400 - two entries for "Base system device" under "Other devices" with yellow exclamation point

    Hello

First of all, let me tell you about my system.   It is of a laptop Inspiron E1705/9400 with the Core 2 Duo T7400 processor clocked at 2.16 GHZ.   It has 2 GB of RAM and a hard drive on the Hitachi Travelstar nine 500 GB (7200 RPM).   It also has the GeForce Go 7900 GS video card.    Previously, it had Windows XP Professional (32 bit) and worked well.   But, I have three computers in my home and Home Office and would they work better together on my wired home network, so I'm upgrading all three to Windows 7.   My two desktops (a Dimension XPS 420 and the other Dimension XPS 430) seem like they will be no problem to upgrade to Windows 7.   But, this laptop was not on the list of Dell Windows 7 compatibility.   However, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that I have downloaded and run seemed to say that it was OK to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit and he had only a few minor issues, where it says search the drivers updated from the manufacturer.   Initially, the laptop came with a 100 GB hard drive.   For my use, which becomes very small, so I decided to get the exact same 7200 RPM drive 500 GB size.   This will allow me to do a clean install of the 32 bit Windows 7 OS on the new hard drive and not have to wipe the old disk to do so.   I can just keep the old HD and paste it back whenever I need to get something out of it.

So, here's my minor problem.   After the transfer of some elements off the coast of the old hard drive, I installed the new 500 GB drive and installed a cleaning of the 32-bit version of Windows 7.    I'm happy to announce that I have not had virtually no problems with installation and everything seems to work fine.   He seems a little more zippy than before and I have not met so far that doesn't seem to work.   I went through most of features and almost everything is superb.   But there is a minor problem, showing in Device Manager.   At least, I think it's a minor problem, but maybe someone can give me feedback to know if she is or not.

In the Device Manager list, there is a category called "other devices" now and the icon shows a little white circle with an exclamation mark.    When you expand this category, you see two identical entries that say "Base system device" and the icon has a yellow circle with an exclamation mark inside.     I know from experience that it is not a good thing to see items in the device manager that have a yellow circle with an exclamation point.   I clicked on both of them and neither one really tells you what the device is, or who did what is site you would go to a driver.    On the general tab, it has the following information:

    -Device type Other devices

    Reference of the manufacturer- Unknown

                         Location     -         Bus PCI 3, device 1, function 3

Under device status, it says the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information

To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

Each of the entries seem to be almost the same thing... but not exactly.   The other has the location

list PCI Bus 3, device 1, function 2... instead of function 1.   This seems to be the only difference.

I tried the button to update the driver, but that doesn't seem to work.   No matter if you say it looks like your

computer or to look for a new driver from the internet, it does not find anything.     As I said at the beginning,

the system seems to work very well... but, given that I don't know what this device is or does, I might be missing something.

He drives me crazy just have these yellow circles with exclamation point hanging out in my device manager.

I could really use some help here.    Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bryan Ray (Richmond, WILL)

BTW, I just downloaded and installed the driver pack from this ftp location and it worked, even for Windows 8.1 - 64 bit.

    Thanks Steve!

    Hi, Virgil,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I suggest for the link and follow the steps in the article:

    Delete a hard disk partition:
Important: All the data on a partition will be lost when you delete it. Be sure to back up all the files you want to save to a different location before you start.
Note: You cannot delete the partition on which the operating system is installed.

    Hope that answers your query.
  • Computer in safemode, blocked: "multi (0) disk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system32\config\system"

Original title: laptop won't start Windows XP. Shows only a black screen.

I work on a laptop Gateway MX 3416 running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

When I turn on the laptop, I see the gateway logo, then white text that says press F11 for recovery of the system, but it goes to a black screen. Pressing on F8 does nothing and if you press the power button, the laptop shut down immediately.
After you run the Bootcfg command in the Console of a Windows XP disk recovery, I managed to get the ability to run safe mode.
When I try to run safe mode, it gets stuck at the "multi (0) disk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system32\config\system"
I have already run chkdsk from the recovery console and it did not show anything.
I am running out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred when preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code: 0 x 80070057

So I just finished my first build. All this POST-ed fine, but I can't get 8.1 Microsoft 64-bit OEM installed on my SSD.

At first I could start a custom installation and it went through fine until the first reboot. This is where it says "disc error". I tried again hoping it would go but noticed a 350 MB "System reserved" Partition with the rest of my space unallocated in my 1st attempt to install.
I googled this problem and was told to remove the reserve system, so Windows could create its own partition, or something of that kind.
Installation works well until you restart again, where this time it says press any key to boot from the cd drive or something of the sort so I don't hope that Windows 8 would be to continue the installation. However, he wanted to just restart the entire system again!
I try once more in the hope that it would work, I remove the additional partitions created and repeat and this time I can't even begin installation due to the message in the title of this post.
    Since I was:
-Make sure SSD has been selected for AHCI (it was already on it)
-Reconnected given SSD + cables power as well as the CD player on shutdown and reboot
-Run Diskpart to repair the boot with these commands:
    -diskpart
    -disk list
    -select disk 0
    -clean
    -output
Same error code came again after attempting to reinstall. So I tried a few other commands:
    -diskpart
    -disk list
    -select disk 0
    -clean all the
at this point, he said: DiskPart has encountered an error: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.
    Someone please help!

Try to create the new partition and do. for example, to verify the steps for Windows 7-

    Likewise, create a partition first.
