  Here is a screenshot of the hard drive of my R61 according to GParted.

  I have a partition separate from the House with my Linux installation. Normally most people use only 1 partition for a linux installation. Here is the presentation:

  sda1 = restore partition

  sda2 = Windows Vista Preload

  sda3 = extended partition that encompasses all other partitions.

  sda6 = Linux Swap

  sda7 = install Linux

  sda8 = Linux Home

  sda9 = extra EXT3 partition for a third installation of Linux. (currently used for the storage of Linux only )

  sda5 = FAT32 partition readable and accessible storage in writing by Linux and Windows.

  Hello.  I use Workstation for many, many years, so I would say I have my set reasonable expectations.

  My main desktop computer:

  -Processor Intel i7 (4950 I think), memory of 16G, Samsung 850 SSD Pro, operating system Ubuntu x 64 VMWare Workstation 11.1 14.10

  It works really well, but my client machines, be it Windows 7 business or Ubuntu LTS 14.04 frequently "stutter" in use.  When the stuttering happens, the host machine is relatively high projection of CPU on vmware-vmx, 15 or 20 according to 'top '.  Stuttering can happen every minute or two, perhaps 5 to 10 seconds at a time.  It's boring, but when I use the CAD software in the computer of the customer it is downright dangerous as shortcut keys get failed, partially or entirely, and usually bad things come.

  I'll call this resolved - finally.  I thought I was going to have to continue to use Virtual Box forever - a sad perspective.  This problem has persisted in 12 Pro Version as well.

  Sometimes, when the quick start is activated, it can cause Linux to correctly identify the Windows partition as being in the State of hibernation. Try to disable the quick start and see if it solves the problem:

  1. open the Control Paneland turn the mode icons

  2. in the list, go to Power Options

  3. in the left pane, click choose the power buttons what

  4. scroll down and uncheck the Quick start

  I have a laptop HP Compaq Presario CQ56-112SA which has WIndows 7 Home Edition OS. I want to install Ubuntu 12.04 OS on its own partition to dual boot with Windows. However, my understanding is that the laptop has 4 primary partitions on the HARD disk that are already being used and so no more partitions can be made. I can reduce the 'C' partition to make space, but I understand that I must also release an entire partition. I know I can install Ubuntu 'Inside' Windows, but I'd rather not.

  Some participants say you can remove safely HP-tools to provide a partition for Ubuntu, but others advise not because HP-Tools contains a kit of the BIOS recovery, say, is indispensable.
