UCCE/CHP - backup before YOU patch?

Hi all
Running packed EAC 9.0.4 & CVP 9.0.1.
What is your typical backup (if any) procedure before you apply the fixes ES UCCE/CHP?
Since it is a virtual environment, is it wise to simply clone the servers in question to be used as a backup in case of installation errors ARE?
Suggest this as preferable method (with VSphere Clone VMs/create OVF) during a more traditional backup as something that could be made in a non-virtualized UCCE environment? (i.e. export config and backup CVP CVP call servers and gateways VXML of OAMP, backup bases CHP, using SQL, back up the registry key "Register of Cisco Systems, Inc.", use the utility NTBACKUP (?), etc...)
Thank you
Mike

There is no need to take a backup before installing any ON boxes of UCCE. If anything is required to do before applying the ES, the same would be mentioned in the release notes ARE himself. You can follow the above-mentioned procedure that otherwise needs.

In ADDITION, replaces specific files based on defect fixes and we can easily return if you have questions...

If both users on source and target are named admin and the owner of the application, then you don't need to worry.
To be honest, if they are both the administrator account by default hyperion same pointless to store the SID, as it's a standard value.

  • You do backup before updating to iOS 9.2.1?

    Hi there momooftwoapples,

Back up before update you your iOS or Mac OS is always a good idea. In fact, Apple recommends to do specifically in this article, which is to update the iOS:

  • Is backup of the programs installed on a user's profile before you rebuild the profile as possible?

    Hello

I just want to know if there is a way to backup installed programs before you rebuild a user profile.

I'm pretty used to reconstruct profiles but I'm looking for a solution to restore the programs as well after the recreation of the user profile. It's quite tedious to install old software on the new profile. Is anyway to backup installed programs via the registry so that they will not have to be installed again (as they are already installed on the computer anyway) after the recreation of the user profile?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Patches before you begin an upgrade

    Hello

as a general rule, it is necessary (or even desirable) to apply all patches for the current version before you begin the upgrade process?

For example, before upgrading from 8.9 to 9.1, should I first apply the last packs of 8.9 application maintenance and product patches, or which is not necessary. Or even more precise, to PeopleSoft Financials 8.9 MP8/tools 8.49.xx is he allowed to go straight for the patches 'required for the upgrade? Oh and tools to upgrade in order to satisfy the requirements of the ofc.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise.

It really depends on the upgrade path given by Oracle. It is sometimes necessary, Yes, sometimes not.

On another PC I want to save my favorites, but my browser Firefox does not work how can I make the backup, before I reinstall Firefox.
Firefox cannot renew its tabs and now won't run and let me do a backup

This may be considered to be solve my problem.
I decided to uninstall the rogue program Firefox download and reinstall the same version (No. 8). I used Windows XP Add Remove programs who asked if I wanted to save the settings of Firefox until I uninstalled Firefox. I said yes and operated with the uninstall. I couldn't find a Firefox 8 so I went for the 12 version and installed on the laptop. This version 12 now works with all the passwords one favorite of the uninstalled 8.

I have windows vista. I did a system restore. I can restore PIX saved on the backups before recovery was made?

    Hi rich,

What kind of backup do you have?  If it were a full image backup, restoring them will be difficult unless you restore the entire image.  If it was a normal backup of files and folders, it should be fairly simple.

Here is an article on the restore procedure: http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on backup and restore Vista process

http://technet.Microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.Backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.   It also focuses primarily on the full backup process, but he did mention the full backup and restore process as well.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):

  • Newbie - Question of Installation (before you begin)...

Good, first of all the question as I embark on the virtual path (or the path of virtualization?).  Here's the situation...

I have two Dell servers of very high quality (2-processor quad-core, 8 GB RAM, 1.5 TB of storage in RAID 5, double NIC, double P/S backup tape).  They were both purchased before I started and are total overkill for the needs of the Department.  I also have 3 old servers and a handful of former workstations that we keep around because they have environments that are required at all times and are running software that would be difficult to get your hands on these days).

Recently, we purchased a license for the development of the 1-vCenter Server 1 - VI3.   My initial goal is pretty simple (one of the more recent servers convert an ESX Server, hosting of server environment that currently exists on this area as well as several other virtual machines).  But before you start, I came with a few questions.

First of all, as I just mentioned, I want to take one of the more recent

servers (which is currently a backup from the Department Server)

and convert it to a host ESX Server (I've got the correct jargon of hope).  But I want to preserve the environment that are in this box as a VS.  Is there a way to do this?   Can I use the free Converter P2V and temporarily save the virtual server to a SAR unit and load/configure ESX on this server and finally pull on the virtual server of origin of the NAS unit file?  My concern is that I must have loaded somewhere ESX before I can create a VM, which will not work because the process of creating the ESX Server will scan the server I'm trying to keep.  No sense?

Second question: at the moment, I want to use the 1.5 TB raid configuration that is presently on this box (local storage) to store the virtual machine.  I'm 99% sure this is a SCSI configuration (I am currently off site and impossible to verify).  There are SCSI?  And there at - it no problem just by using local storage to the virtual machine?  Most of the configurations I've seen described online and in books use SAN for their virtual machines.  But the virtual machine I want to create is not "critical" systems  They are important, but if they were down for a day or two, it would not be the end of the world for us.  Finally, I would like to implement the ESX Servers redundant with external storage, but it is where I am at the moment.  Once I showed you the benefits, I will be able to push in this direction.  So for now, I want to use the high-end box that I like the epicenter of my virtual world.

I read a virtual infrastructure for Dummies, and it was actually excellent.  I was never a fan of the books 'for Dummies', but I did a little research, and the reviews have been very strong, so I gave it a try.  But I'd be open to other suggestions as well in terms of good books for a mid-level administrator.

Thanks in advance for the help.  I've learned over the years asking a few questions before a change of this magnitude is much better than labour in advance and hoping for the best.

    CareyBroph

1: Yes, you can use VMware Converter to convert physical machine virtual server vmware server instance and then use the converter to convert from vmware esx server. I would say a good backup and test the server vmware vm before deleting the physical installation.

Yes, in 2: SCSI is absolutely fine if caught serveris supported by VMware. The reason why most people use SAN or iSCSI is that they need a storage shared for clusters. You may want to consider this, too since you have the licenses required to run VI3 with ESX Server switchis and vCenter "ontop" and you eliminate the single point of failure of a standalone ESX Server would be. But as you said, the amount of the fine with the non-critical systems.

    Kind regards
