    Hello Amit,

The UCS SW/HW interoperability tool should answer your questions.  5.1 ESXi is supported of the UCS 2.0 (4) and later versions.  Install the OS, and then update the drivers enic & fnic from the ISO driver available on cisco.com

When I was installing WindowsServer the UCS to boot from SAN. I have attached the iso drivers for the HBA driver so that the blade can detect the boot LUN.

Now, I'm going to install ESXi. Do you know if I need to use the iso as drivers for the HBA as with windows or ESXi detects this and will present me the boot LUN to start the installation?

We will use the ESXi, VMware no custom of Cisco

    Hello

    A major difference:

MSFT Windows has no drivers of enic fnic UCS preinstalled with the distribution of iso.

ESXi has, but most likely not one who demands that the UCS support matrix.

    See http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

Therefore you install ESXi ISO of the distribution, and then you update the drivers of the enic/fnic

    Hi Javier

2.1.3 was the last version supporting M81KR.

The enic/fnic M81KR and VIC-1280 drivers are the same

    VIC-1280

    1.5.0.49 = card driver (FNIC), 2.1.2.38 (ENIC)
    Adapter Firmware = 2.1 (3)

    M81KR

    1.5.0.49 = card driver (FNIC), 2.1.2.38 (ENIC)
    Adapter Firmware = 2.1 (3)

Therefore, I see no problem; you change the adapter I/O and associate the SP again.

  • ESXi to Cisco custom Esxi 6.0 6.0

    Hi all

We have a doubt about the normal migration of Esxi to Cisco Custom Esxi,

    Could you help us please?

The procedure looks like a normal esxi update?

We would be able to deploy windows and other OS VM in the Cisco Custom Esxi?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Kind regards.

The difference between relase OEM Cisco ESXi 6.0 and VMware ESXi 6.0, is that the former has installed its own version of enic/fnic drivers for UCS.

You can install the ISO for VMware and then update drivers enic/fnic according to the Cisco interoperability matrix: http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

  • Cisco UCS update for vmware

    Hi all

I am facing a problem to upgrade my vmware environment. Is it possible to upgrade my current environment to vmware vSphere 5.0 to 5.5 or v6 vSphere? Here's my current Cisco UCS report. Cisco said that no Vmware said yes.  Someone at - he tried or who have this problem?

Current version = UCSM B series

    The UCS = 2.1 release (2)

    Server model = B230-M2

Adapter = CAN-M91kR UCS Virtual Interface Card

If you need confirm the hardware and software compatibility, here is your best friend:

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

With version UCSM you use and the material, you have the latest version supported is ESXi 5.1 U1, but if you upgrade to 2.1.3 you will see Esxi 5.1 U2 - 3, 5.5, 5.5 ESXi U1 - 2 and 6 Esxi ESXi.

I bet you meant to type M81KR, so keep this in mind for a proper functioning:

    1.5.0.45 = card driver (FNIC), 2.1.2.38 (ENIC)
    Adapter Firmware = 2.1 (3)

  • question about comparability of pilots esxi on NGC

    Hi all

I couldn't find any reference to this anywhere, so I'm him give a try here.

If I download the latest ISO from the vmware web site which is 6.0 Update 2.

It has these drivers in there:

    --> DOWNLOAD VMware vSphere

    ENIC Cisco 2.3.0.7
    Fnic Cisco 1.6.0.25

    // //

If I check the matrix ucs, he says: I need lower versions of drivers (2.1.2.62, 1.6.0.24) which is in the ISO standard, so the question is this, do I have the exact version that is in the matrix, which means that I need to replace the drivers, or the matrix lists the required minimum versions?

If anyone has an official response will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

ISO custom VMware will come with drivers to get the installed operating system. You can then refer to the interoperability matrix Cisco UCS HW and SW to see what drivers are compatible/taken in charge on the material.

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

If you open a support request and are having problems, Cisco will generally want to check that the problem exists on compatible drivers before further investigation.

I would like to know if you have any questions or need any clarification.

    Thank you

  • Cisco UCS 260 M 2 5.5 U3 - custom image and compatibility

TAC has a customer turned and pointed toward a compatibility table for an installed UCS - C 260M 2, stating that the firmware of the UCS and the latest version of Vmware is not supported.

They are suggesting that the client moves to fimware 1.5 (9) and they use a customized image of Cisco for Vmware.

This facility is for UC/EAC, so I have to make sure that the versions supported in the docwiki for these products as well is the Vmware version.

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

The drop down menu shows Vmware 5.5 U3 is a supported version and I find that 5.5 is supported in the dockwiki. So far so good.

However, when I try to find a custom image for 5.5 U3 image only I find it:

    https://my.VMware.com/Web/VMware/details?ProductID=353&downloadGroup=OEM...

VMware 5.5 U3a. The version of the driver specified on this page do not match driver versions indicating the interoperability matrix must be used.

First, is there a customized image of Cisco for 5.5 U3, could someone point me to this image so that these versions of the drivers are the same?

Secondly, can I use ISO customized Cisco to upgrade a vanilla install Vmware 5.1 U3?

    -GDR

    Greetings.

The Cisco Custom images are just a collection of pilots who were up-to-date at the time wherever it has been presented to VMware.  It is expected that iso custom will exactly match the interoperability matrix (it could have at the time, it was created), but at least provide newer drivers than what is usually installed in the general VMware releases.

The interoperability matrix will list the specific driver, i.e. igb driver intel 1 GB network interface.  Download you the version of the driver for VMware site and install adapt you to the requirements notified by the interoperability matrix.

You should be able to use a custom Cisco ISO to upgrade.  When your custom installation ISO analyzes your existing system, it will see a higher version of the drivers/VIBs and update those.  The Cisco with custom isos are simply the original VMware updated versions the drivers injected into them.

    Thank you

  • UCS C220 M3 custom problem after installing ESXi 5.1.0 Cisco

    Hello world

I m using a Cisco UCS C220 M3 when I tried to install ESXi 5.1.0 custom Cisco after complete the entire process and restart the server. The ESXi has not started it appeared as if there is no operating system.

In addition, before installing ESXi I configured a HDD in RAID 0, initialized the RAMDisk and chosen as a pilot.

    Hoping someone could help me.

    Llianovich,

Unfortunately, the on-board controller is not supported with ESXi.  I saw other people using this controller for VMware and makes the work but the behavior is very random and it could work or fail at any time. It is recommended to use one of the controllers of basic PCI or Mezzanine by the ESXi (see c220 m3 datasheet below)

  • Windows Server 2 k 3 on UCS B-200 M2?

    Hello

just a quick question. We have servers UCS B - 200 M2 with adapter of Palo and need to set up a Windows 2003 R2 64 Bit Server for a customer.

The States of matrix of OS compatibility, Windows 2003 R2 does not work on the B200 M2 Servers. However in the compatibility matrix adapter, on the line with LSI adapter, it is said that the driver of the card is compatible for Windows 2 k 3 32-bit on the B200 M2 blade.

    It's a bit irritating.

Can anyone confirm that Windows Server 2 k 3 64-bit is not compatible to the B200 M2 blade servers and may also explain why?

    Thanks in advance.

    Lorenz,

    [Update]

I confirmed that the B200 M2 will not be supported on any version of Windows 2003.

Support of the pilots of the show right Palo for 2003 is for the B200 M1.  Due to the age and the notice of end of LIFE of the operating system, it has not considered necessary to support this OS inherited on new hardware in the future.

That being said I saw this 'work' in client deployments, but understand it is not 'supported' by TAC or Cisco.

    Kind regards

  • UCS C22 M3 software RAID LSI problem with hard drive

    Hello

I post here because I searched many hours for a stupid problem.

I have a Cisco UCS C22 M3 with soft RAID LSI MagicRAID.
I have two hard disk of 1 TB.
I create a RAID array with the type 1 (mirror).

When I run the installation of VMware ESXi 5.1 U1 I see the RAID array, but the two discs.
I think that it is a driver problem.
So, I install special with an iso VMware in the VMware Web site for Cisco server.
I have test with ESXi 5.0 and 5.1, and 5.1 U1 but it's the same problem.

I try to remove the RAID array and to install esx on disc one monkey. Installation works well, but in the boot menu, I can't boot from a hard disk. I don't know why I search with UEFI and she is disabled.

I test with windows 2012, and 2008R2 to check if its working but in install I don't see also hard drive or the RAID array.
I go to Cisco and download the driver of the 2G for VMware Linux and Windows.
I try inserting the driver in windows install, but does not.
I think that the driver for a hardware RAID card and software.

I have try to disable the LSI RAID in the advanced bios "SouthBridge". After I disabled I don't know how I can do to start on the hard drive.
When I go to the start menu (F6) I see absolutely nothing in drive.

I test this on two Cisco server.

I can't know what I can do now. I take a working installation tomorrow and nothing.

I join you a photo of the boot sequence LSI.

    Thank you very much.

    Stephane,

For what I understand, you use the RAID controller integrated, therefore, these drivers will not work you:

    -LSI 92xx

    -LSI 106xE

    -LSI 2008 M

    -INS 3081E-R

    -LSI8708EM2

    -LSI 9201< all="" of="" the="" above="" are="" not="" the="" controller="" you="">

    -CISO 1225 x< this="" is="" for="" the="" vic="">

    -CISCO P81E< this="" is="" for="" the="" 1st="" generation="" of="" vic="" cards,="" so="" definitely="" not="" a="" raid="">

Pilots are organized into top level by operating system folders, and each folder of OS has a structured series hierarchically who become more specific subfolders so that you can find the exact drivers you need. When you navigate to a folder containing the drivers, it will contain also one or several README files that explains what are these drivers in particular.

Here is an example of the structure of folder for Windows:

Windows    ChipSet       vendor          blade-model-number             OS-version-number                All                ia64                Lang (contains language subfolders)                Vista                x64

    You need to look for: /< OS > / storage/Intel/C600 /.< if="" you="" are ="" doing="" the="" installation="" of="" the="" os="" through="" the="" kvm,="" you="" first="" need="" to="" un-mount="" the="" os="" .iso="" image="" to="" mount="" the="" drivers,="" once="" the="" drivers="" are="" done,="" un-mount="" the="" drivers="" and="" mount="" again="" the="" os="" .iso="">

If it does not, you better open a TAC case that will allow us to put in place an additional troubleshooting Webex meeting.
