UK price of software Adobe, a rip off compared to the USA... Why?

I am already customer of Adobe and own 2 of Lightroom which I've upgraded to the Version 3 and Photoshop CS4 Extended I want to update to CS5 Extended.

I was on Adobe.com (via the button in Photoshop) and noticed on the right side of the page was updated for CS5 Extended $ 199. So, I went through and selected in CS4 Extended for CS5 Extended and with current offerings go a final price + delivery of $285,15 which is £183,02.

I tried, but I couldn't finish the order, so I logged onto Adobe.com/uk and created the same order, but the price is almost Double the price US (a £183,02) at £333,60. Why is the same product almost double the price in the UK US v?

I quite understand that perhaps there is a difference of light and additional delivery charges currency conversion (although even when the product is very light).

I talked to someone announcement Adobe via live chat and told me (text taken from the real cat).

  • Although Europe Adobe and Adobe U.S. are different parts of the same global company, European Marketing strategies and prices directly do not apply to those used in the United States.

  • I really understand your concern about the price being more in the UK compared to the conversion to the United States, however, there are many factors that decide the price as 'the cost of doing business in each country' and 'difference in the perceived value of the product'.
  • We want to make sure that we give to our customers the best products and at the right price.
  • We are sure that Adobe products in value add to help you get the result wished the ease, efficiency and speed.

Come on, the United States and produced UK is 100% the same and why charge almost double the price would be "fair price" for the consumer?

I'm very unhappy about it and think it is yet another classic case of overload the UK customer.

It is a frequently discussed topic.  To cut to the Chase are the main responses

1. cost of provision in several languages and

2. taxes and tariffs imposed by different countries.
