Hi Yorkieshome,

What is your home computer? The computer is connected to a domain?

You can run a scan SFC. This analysis will check the integrity of your system files. If one has been corrupted or are missing, the scan will repair or replace these files.

  • Windows automatic updates to doubt?

In windows 7, in windows updates, when we select "install updates automatically (recommended)" and then set the time when to install updates, to just install the updates then (downloads at any time seized in accordance with his will) or download them first at that time and then to install it?
As my use of the internet is free from 02:00 to 08:00 and I want that windows should download the updates and install them automatically at 03:00 (it would cost my internet charges). If I put out there like "every day at 03:00" time, it will download at that time (which I want it to be), or simply install at the time (I don't want to use my day consumption for the updates of windows... I want to use the free part!).

p.s. it restarts the computer automatically after installing updates (I don't want) or to delay the recovery until I wake up in the morning and do it myself (I want it)?

If it does it automatically, is it possible to stop him?

    From: Understanding Windows automatic updating

    When the updates are downloaded?

Updates are downloaded behind the scenes when you are online. They do not interfere with other downloads. If you disconnect from the Internet before an update is fully downloaded, the download process will continue the next time you're online.

    When the updates are installed?

It depends on the automatic update option you choose. If you choose the recommended option, updates are installed at 3:00 or on a schedule you choose. If you turn off your computer before the scheduled time, you can install updates before shutting down. If your computer is in a State of economy of energy (sleep or Hibernate) during a scheduled update, and if your computer is connected to a power source, Windows will wake your computer long enough to install new updates. If your computer is running on battery, however, Windows will not install updates. Windows will try to install them instead at the next scheduled installation.

Through the above information, it seems that Windows Update is download the updates when the system is online and install them during the scheduled installation.
Updates need to reboot the system to replace files in use will be to reboot the system without any user interaction.

As far as I know, when WU is set to automatic, there is no way to restrict the time when the system will download the updates.
If the edition of Windows 7 is the ultimate edition, professional or business, one can configure the options of restart and guests reboots via Group Policy. In addition

PowerShell cmdlets in Windows 7 introduces a set of 25 new cmdlets, which allow administrators to manage and automate Windows PowerShell through Group Policy. With these cmdlets, a COMPUTER administrator can backup, restore, report on and configure (through registry settings) Group Policy objects. This feature is added during the installation of the GPMC.

PowerShell cmdlets also applies to editions listed above of Windows 7.

  • Windows XP: Automatic updates cannot be activated?

For some reason, when I start my PC, the small icon bottom right tray comes up saying the automatic updates are disabled. So, I click on the bubble to open the Security Center interface and click on the button "Turn on automatic updates" and I get a little error box indicating:

"We are sorry. The Security Center could not change your Automatic Updates settings. To try to change these settings yourself, go to system in Control Panel. On the Automatic Updates tab, select Automatic (recommended) and then click OK. »

So I go to system in Control Panel and click on the automatic, but Automatic Updates tab is already selected.

So I can't tell if they are actually on or not. Does anyone know what is the problem?

Click Start, select run, type: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll

    Press Ok

    3. Automatic updates (and Windows Update) access is blocked by group policy

To solve problems, just follow the steps below:

now windows to this day do not work, I have manueally installed the necessary current top-dates, down load and install on mine.

How ever there are other issues related to this fixit said was the corrupt problem entered in the register, almost everthing verified fixit showed was in trouble.

I tried "the pirates of registry" and does not really depend on their ability, the problem is still there.

I changed the name on the wba file and had validated the operating system for the second time, no help at all.

Although I could never use the web site windows update, I had automatic updates, windows allowed 132 + updates to install, even this will be undate is no longer this device, I tried to turn the auto update turned off the system restart, then activation updates, which did not help.

At this point, present an repaired actually a problem of update, I know that xp only will continue until April 2014.

Note it is a XP OEM operating system was complete with sp2, I downloaded and installed the sp3.

as I said I installed manually all the available updates for this machine that were not needed and even the manual attempt to installed, updates, windows don't settle.
