Unable to access the Start Menu icon

My STARTUP in XP icon is missing and when I reduce a window, it disappears at the top of the bottom of the screen never to be seen again.  Any suggestions on a fix for this?

In fact, I was able to solve it by changing the screen resolution of very high to high.

    EDIT:

I found the RTC battery, removed and then I pressed the power button for 1 Minute. I put the battery back in but it's always the same problem. Nothing has changed.

    Hello

Power access and use the menu starup is a good thing. This means that the BIOS is not altered.

If you can access the start menu and the BIOS, then it means that it is likely that the hard drive has failed.

Replace the hard drive with another, and then install an operating system on it.

  • Cannot access the Start Menu - 6 Ultra

I realize there are other threads on this problem but mine is a little diiferent.

I just replaced memory in both my Ultra 6 s. The steps were:

    Ultra unit has

    Deletion of records

    New memory installed

A run the memory test (past)

    Replacement discs

    Fact

    Ultra B

    Deletion of records

    New memory installed

Could not access the Start Menu to run a memory test.

Shared memory of unit A and B of the unit (with 'good' memory)

Could not access the Boot Menu

Blank placed in drive B and turned on.

Could not access the Boot Menu

    Disk spent

Has started doing a factory reset to unit B

I pulled the plug when I saw "pending RAIDar.

So it seems to B unit works fine except that I can't access the Start Menu.

I guess that the reset button does not work on Unit B or is it possibly caused by something else?

    Here is my MAIN question:

What should I expect when I put the original disks to unit B?

I noticed that Studio B was assigned to a new IP address, so I'm a little unsure of what to expect.

Ah, that could be just a bad reset button.

If you can see the taskbar in safe mode, please do a system restore. Choose a date where you did not have this problem as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish

The program was the Vuze, and I managed to get rid of the icon.  By a right click and do not move the mouse and wait 5 minutes eventualy box popped up and I was able to remove the icon from the start menu.

The solution was a lot of patience.

    Please help us well!

  • In the start-up procedure, how can I remove "press ESC to access the Start Menu" when the machine hangs at the HP logo screen?

    Hello

I am running 64 Win7HP on a laptop HP dv3, processor Core 2 Duo 4 GB DDR2 Ram, 320 GB HD, just as it came out of the box when purchased directly from HP replaced EXCEPT Vista OS with 64bits Win7HP.  Machine worked fine until the LAST update of Windows, where during the reboot, I got to the HP logo screen and in the lower left corner of the screen appeared the statement (for THE FIRST TIME) "Press ESC for the Start Menu."  Pressing Esc translates into another command "press Esc...".  Break. " When you press ESC, you get a black screen until the machine goes to sleep UNLESS you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete. If you press the 3 key combo, it will continue to start and brings you to the screen of your password for access and then operate nicely, until you turn off the system. So, how can I get rid of the superfluous instructions and get this thing here where he turns and goes directly to the screen of password without intermediate steps?  Restore points are long since gone for immediate access to the front last Win Update.
The answer may be simple, but until now it has escaped my low range.  Any help is appreciated.

  • Problem with the taskbar and the Start - Menu icons broken shortcuts and icons 'White Pages '.

I'm having a problem with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit where all the icons outside of a couple in my in my Start menu and task bar have all lost their icons (and are now blank white pages) and clicking on their displays the screen where you choose which program to open the. Files with the INK.
I tried to empty the cache icon, but it has no effect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are ways to fix file associations, but I would recommend first trying to use the system restore to 'back in time' before the beginning of the question.  Don't worry, the system restore does not cause you to lose all the files, emails, photos, etc.

  • The desktop, the tool bar and the start menu icons are default icons (white leaves)

Most of my software icons that are on my desk, my toolbar and my Start menu changed Windows default icon (a white sheet)

I tried to clean my computer, to rebuild my iconcache.db to change my icon package, to restore my computer and scan but nothing works.

Can you please if there is another solution?

    Thank you

    Hello

This could be due to a virus or infection of malware on the computer or problems with the Database Cache icon on the computer. I wish I had this information to better understand:

    (1) have you run an analysis using software registry cleaner on your computer recently?

    (2) what antivirus application do you use on your computer?

Refer to these methods in the order in which they are presented, and check the status of the issue.

    Method 1:

Run the difficulty of following article and see if it helps:

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows/

    Method 2:

These types of problems occur sometimes due to the infection by the virus in the computer. You can scan your computer from a Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 3:

If the problem persists, then check the suggestions by Gaurav Prakash in the following thread and check if that helps. Skip the steps you have done already.

  • Cannot access the start menu

I have a HP Pavilion m7590n. It was in the light of household use for about 4 years and finally the master hard drive died.  I thought that I would put in a new drive and while I'm at it install windows 7 as well.

The problem is that none of the F keys seem to work. I can't access all the settings of the bios or boot menu for I can boot from a CD.

The blue screen of the HP says that esc = Boot Menu F1 = Setup F10 = system recovery

None of these keys work. I tried every other F key without success and some good faith 4 different keyboards, including the USB one supplied with the computer. No idea what is the problem? Or what I am doing wrong?

I just need to boot from the windows 7 CD so I can install the operating system on the new hard drive.

Thanks for any help on the subject.

    Hello

You should be able to access the bios without a hard drive.  I disabled the sata ports in the bios for hard drives and I can always access the bios.

    Try this procedure:

Disconnect the PC and open it. Clean all the dust. Carefully, remove and replace all the cables towards the mother board one at a time. Do the same for memory DIMM and the video and the sound of cards if you have a.  You can buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the heatsink from the CPU.  Plug your PC back in and give it a go.

Try this procedure and see if you can locate the problem. Troubleshooting problems of energy supply. Do not skip steps.
