Unable to boot after Windows update

Hello

As is strives to update windows today, I wasn't expecting to lock up my computer, but now I am facing blue screen of death at every start. The Startup Repair tool is not help... So for now, the only option I see is to reformat my C drive?

It was really unexpected, that I was a bit installing optional updates in windows (mainly the drivers I think for the fingerprint reader, graphics...) when my pc crashed. I hope to recover some of the files on my desktop before reformatting.

So I don't expect too much help here because I can do basically anything that even the startup repair does not work. But I wonder, is there some windows updates that are to be avoided? I'd only like to know this only screwed to the top of my pc. I'm runnign the w520 on windows 7btw.

Thank you!!

Aurel

Hello Peter, thanks for your response. I could back up my files on my C drive using a DOS command prompt and then restored a system image of a few months ago.

Product: HP Compaq 6000 Pro format microtour

OS: Windows 7 (not sure 32 or 64-bit)

I installed about 15 Windows updates last week, some of them is critical, then restarted and the computer was fine. This morning my computer was slow, so I restarted, and now I can't start. He keeps go to boot menu options. I tried...

    -Safe Mode

    -Mode low resolution

    -Last good known Configuration Mode

All of these options to the same start menu cycle.

HP Startup Repair finds problems with the disc, says he corrects, finishes, but doesn't change anything. Back the same start menu.

I tried removing battery from motherboard and BIOS restore to factory settings - or solved the problem.

Finally, tried to restart from the disc installation, but apparently for HP there is only the option to restore the default settings (erase all data) and no possibility to repair or return to an earlier date. I really, really, want to lose data if possible.

    Any ideas?

RESOLVED: Ran Startup Repair, but this time took so I could look at the newspaper.

Root cause found: System on the disk volume is damaged.
    Repair action: file system repair
    Result: Completed successfully.

    Yes!

Still, would be nice to know if it can be avoided in the future.

  • Empty (black) screen boot after Windows updates

I had this problem on two computers this week... until now. Run windows update after I restart the computer. When the computer reboots, they can start to a blank screen (black). These were not updated video card basis. Also, I tried to use the safe mode, but it crashes on MUP. SYS. I ran chkdsk... and who has not fixed it. Any ideas other then a new installation? Thanks for your help!

    Kevin_C_K,
You said you ran chkdsk and it didn't fix it, but it will report all the problems?
If you are still having this problem here is a couple of things to try (if you haven't already done so).
    Run the sfc/scannow utility.
When you have run chkdsk if you do not use the /r switch, then repeat the it like Chkdsk/r

  • BLUE SCREEN: UNABLE TO BOOT AFTER THE UPDATE OF ROUTINE WINDOWS XP

Today, I was asked to restart my computer for the updates be taken into account (not my choice seemed automatic).  When I went to turn my computer back on later, it went straight to the blue screen.

Therefore, Windows cannot restart once again! It stops at the blue screen with the following message:

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    Technical information:

    STOP: 0 X 0000005 (0XC0000005, 0X7D7FBB28, 0XF89203BC, 0XF89200B8).

Then, when I hit F8 and went through all the options (trying to get into safe mode), the blue screen just kept coming back and the last time, he had these codes:

    STOP: 0 x 0000005 (0 x 80000003, 0X8053355E, 0XF8A553BC, OXF8A550B8).

I tried all sorts of relaunch option namely mode security etc.  but all comes down to the blue screen.

    Can someone help me?

I have a TM backup but it cannot find all the disks, so I can't pick it up to do a restore.

An option or patches? Boot hd is in a year.

    Thx for any help

    Network reinstall of El Capitan

    1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime, press Command + Option + R until a globe appears.
    2. The Utility Menu appears in 5 to 20 minutes. Be patient.

  • Unable to boot after Windows logo

original title: My Vista Basic Edition open habit. As soon as Microsoft logo lights, my computer gives a Windows error message.

Before my computer crashed, he was downloading 12 'important' files from microsoft. When it restarted, it began to open with the logo of compaq, then, the windows logo, then I get a "Windows error" message.  He said that I should reinstall Windows disk.  My computer came with a preinstalled on vista. I used the recovery disc that I bought from HP to restart the computer. I made sure the start setting would be on the CD mode first (from the site of Bios). When I tried to reboot, it would have read always not the recovery disc. I got some tips on this Web site about what to do, and he said to recreate a Windows recovery disk. I did as instructed, and yet with this new disc, my computer won't get past stage logo before a loop is executed by restarting itself. I can't get into safe mode, I can enter the BIOS mode, but clicking on reset default (f9) does not solve the system. It says there's something load in my computer - I can't fix because I can't past the point of the loop. can you help me please?

Restart your computer and press the F8 key until you reach the Advanced Startup Menu of Options. Select Safe Mode and System Restore. If the problem persists, restart the computer and press the F8 key. When you reach the menu Advanced Startup Options select turn off automatic error system reboot. Restart the computer normally and post the error here.

    Choose one of these settings:

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native vista firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously.  now run the Fixit and choose the default mode.  restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. I have a linux operating system and I would like to remove it and install windows xp. I'm afraid that if I wipe the drive, I'll be unable to boot the windows xp disc. Is this true? What is the best way to remove the linux operating system and install windows xp?

original title: HOW I CAN UNINSTALL LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM

If there is absolutely nothing on the disk you want, just format the drive and install Windows XP:

    1. start from the CD. You may need to change the first boot to a CD device in the BIOS. To do this, when you switch on the look for a configuration message indicating what key to start typing, F2 and del are commonly used. The message appears for very long and it you miss, you have to restart the computer. In the BIOS, look for a section that contains the boot sequence, change it to CD, save it and let the computer to restart.

    2. the installation sequence is answering the message press any key to boot from the CD, and then press ENTER to set up Windows, press F8 to accept the EULA, delete the partition, press ENTER, type L to confirm delete, type C to create a partition, choose (Quick) format. Then begins the installation and restart will therefore ignore the subsequent message to press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.

    3. actual installation will begin and takes about 30 minutes. Finally, download all the missing Windows service packs and other updates.

  • Good question after Windows update on Satellite P100 PSPA3E

I encountered a problem with my sound card after a Windows Update. It became an old analog tuner with problems of dust on his volume knob. (this is a reference "sounds like" for those old enough to remember) I updated the driver to the most recent DriverGuide.com, no joy.

I even did a complete system restore "with the"product restore disk."" Which fixed the problem until Windows updated the right files for trash again. I don't know what files do the dirty on my card since most of the windows system updates are performed while I "continue to work! Anyone with ideas?

    Thank you

    JD

    Hello

What operating system do you use? XP or Vista?

Satellite P100 PSPA3E must use a sound chip Intel high definition audio Conexant CX20551-22.

I recommend to remove the sound card in Device Manager after installing Windows updates.
Then restart the computer and install the latest audio drivers available that support the sound chip HD Conexant CX20551-22.

First of all, you should try to use the driver for the Toshiba page. If this does not work, check the Intel page!
Please don t forget to restart the laptop after windows update finished.
