Unable to compel the rectangle marquee tool

Hold down the SHIFT key while a rectangle using the selection Rectangle does not work. In other words, the rectangle is not limited to a square using this technique. I think that the problem may be with settings for this tool. I don't see how to restore the default values in the preferences. Restore the essential to the default workspace has not helped. How can I limit the rectangles and ovals using the tools marquee and lasso? Thank you.

Hello

What version of photoshop are you using?

You can reset the default values to a tool or all the tools by right-clicking on the icon for the tool in the tool options bar.

That can also happen if you have something other than new active selection in the toolbar options.

Make sure you are in design mode, it is not available in the new Live View Editor.

Otherwise, it would be in the same place forever, bottom left of the Properties window.

  • Unable to use the Disk Defragmenter tool in Windows XP

Original title: I use windows xp why used my computer open the disk defragmentation

If I try to open the disk defrag it says the file isint there.

    Hi Gabrella,

I'm glad to know that you've posted queries in Microsoft communities.

According to the description, it looks like you aren't able to open the disk defragmentation in Windows XP.

I have a couple of steps that should help you with this problem.

    Method 1:

Try the fixit and the steps mentioned in this link and check.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314848

    Method 2:

There are several reasons why the built-in defragmentation may not work correctly:

Step 1. The disk is too full (you need at least 15% free space, sometimes 20%). Solution: Delete files unnecessary and programs until you have more than 20% free space.

    Step 2.

The disc is damaged and must be repaired. Solution:

    a. open "My computer" and right-click on the drive that you want to disable frag.
    b. Select 'Properties' and click on 'tools '.
    c. Select "Check now" to check the drive for errors.
    d. Select the two options and click on 'start '.

(This can take time and can restart the PC so that it can do the check at boot time. Be patient and let it complete).

Step 3. There may be malware on the PC
Solution - run the Antivirus and Antispyware scans (can take a long time if ever made. Be patient):

Viruses can cause these problems. Scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which allows to get rid of viruses, spyware and software malware.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expire after 10 days from the date of installation.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Step 4. If still no luck, try disabling the screen saver when you run Disk Defrag (you should very well leave the system only when running the built-in defragmentation utility).

Step 5. If still no go, try to run the defragmenter in Mode without failure. If she runs, something interferes with it in standard mode and stalking the interference may not be easy. Note: Some versions of Win 7 disable the ability to run the built defragmentation tool in safe mode. If disabled, it will say when you try to start it in safe mode.

Step 6. Disk Defragmenter is no longer on the system or is damaged while it needs a re - install. Solution: Reinstall the built-in function.

There are several ways to re - install the built-in defragmentation tool

    A:
    a. open the "Start" menu.and click run.
    b. type '% Windir%\Inf'

    c. in the window that opens, find the file named «dfrg.inf»
    d. right-click on "dfrg.inf" and "install".

    B:
    a. go into "start > run" on your computer.
    b. Type "rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132% windir%\inf\dfrg.inf" and press "Enter."
    3. click 'OK' to make the program automatically reinstall itself.

    C:
    a. go to start > all programs > Accessories > right click on command prompt > select 'run as administrator '.
    b. at the command prompt, type "regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll" and press "enter."
    c. type 'regsvr32 dfrgui.dll' and press 'Enter '. This will reinstall the missing files to Defrag.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue. For any help about Windows, you can still post on the Microsoft Community.

If the marquee tool worked correctly in the past, I would propose a reset of this tool.

Select the marquee tool, then go to the top where the Options are for her.

The left icon is the rectangular marquee tool. Right-click on it to display the reset menu, then choose "Reset Tool".

He put the Marquee tool back to its "default values.

  • Rectangle selection tool - lost square corners

Our computer is used by several people, and somehow the rectangle selection tool lost its square corners and to rounded shows only corners.

How to change the marquee tool to square corners?

    Anyone know the answer?

    Thank you.

Set the value of the pen at the back of the tool from scratch.

  • PSE7, creation of thumbnail, which is Oval Marquee tool?

. I've used PSE3 for photo edting.  I now PSE7. I am creating a "classic vignette effect" as described in the book of PSE3 Kelby, pg 300-301.

This effect is intended to highlight the baby inside an oval with edges rounded and blur everything behind the main subject.   By clicking on the Rectangle selection tool, I find no circle or oval tools, just the squares and rectangles. I need a tool to draw an oval space around my baby's face.  Under the framing box icon there are squares and triangles, no circle or oval. You can direct me further in this technique using simple instructions?  I appreciate your answers!

Are you sure that you have the marquee selection tool and not the shape tool? The marquee is way up in the Toolbox with the shape tool. It's the dotted rectangle bit and when you click on it, if you hold down the mouse, or if you right-click, you will get the option for the elliptical marquee.

  • Draw the rectangle to the intensity chart (position where clicked)

I am able to extract the coordinates using the mouse down and mouse to the top of the structure of the event, but unable to draw the rectangle at the specified position. I get the coordinates to the mouse down and mouse up to the event within these limits. I want to draw a rectangle in the position coordinates, but unable to do so.

One last thing, since you use the Rectangle to draw, you need to deal with cases where the rectangle is not drawn from top left to bottom right. Please make sure that the minimum value X goes to the entrance on the LEFT and the minimum value of go at the TOP of the terminal of the vi entrance Rectangle rect. Use the Max & Min function from the palette of comparison for that.

  • How can I specify exact corners with the rectangular selection tool?

Suppose I have an image width 2000 pixels by 1000 pixels high.  Pixel (0,0) is at the top on the left as you look at the picture.  Using the rectangle selection tool, how can I specify an exact size to choose?  Say, for example, I want to choose the area defined by (0,0), (100, 0), (100 100) & (0.100), how can I do this?

    I use Photoshop CS6 on a Mac with os x 10.8.3.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Kevin H.

Once you have the choice of the exact size you want. You can move the mouse cursor in the area of selection, then click and drag the selection. If you have guide lines and align the guideline allowed the selection will jump to your guide line when you drag it close to them.

If you set line guide first. When you drag a selection section should align with your guide lines.

  • Can I lock the marquee tool to make the only rectangles?

I lose track of the issue of whether the selection tool is selected - and press M to get, and often this means I get the circle marquee. Is it possible to lock the marquee tool to make a rectangular selection only? that is, I have to reach the top in the Toolbox to make the circle--as was the case in earlier versions of the PSD.

There is one very annoying thing that I hope that they have considered!

Correction: Based on the M key is changing your selection Rectangle rectangle, ellipse, then you should go to Edit > Preferences > General and tick "use Shift key for tool switch."

This will require then you hold the SHIFT key before you press M and your marquee tool will stay on the rectangle.

  • Editing audio first in Audition, when the marquee tool, the changes do not take effect or I would like to export.

Editing audio first in Audition, when you use the marquee tool to get rid of unwanted 'knocking' noise audio, the changes do not take effect or I would export after changes in the spectral display.

No indication on how to save the changes to the marquee selection tool would be great.

Hmm.  You did something for the audio in the selection?  It looks not to the file has been modified at all, and the registration option is not enabled, unless a change has occurred.  I suppose you try to remove or reduce the volume of the sound inside the selection rectangle, is that correct?  With this selection, you can press DELETE to remove it completely, or set the volume floating just above the selection of lower button.

It also seems that you stopped reading, and while that save the selection under will be activated pause, of many other commands will not.

So, try in the following order:

1 stop playback.  Is File > Save now activated?

    2. otherwise, do some edit to this file.  You will know that the file is considered 'dirty' when an asterisk * appears next to the name of the file in the files Panel and the top of the editor Panel.

    3. There is no number 3.  I feel confident, one of the first two options will work.  Once the file is saved and overwritten, go back to the first and you should hear the content updated the.

  • I lost the marquee tool cursor control

Running PSE9 under MAC OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

I was setting in flag of borders of several pictures using the marquee tool > select > feather > inverse selection > remove and it works well.  Then I started another picture and the marquee selection tool now won't give me a rectangle of varying size, but rather a little square that moves, but will not change its size (unlike the option shift which, if I understand correctly, lock in a square shape, but allows a change of size).  I have to hit keys wrong somehow, but what?  And how to return to normal operation?  Attached picture shows the small square in the upper left corner of my image.

    Oh yes, Happy New Year!

To the left of the options bar is a small triangle. Click on it and choose Reset tool.
