Unable to forward Port 5900

Hi, I think I tried everything I could think to forward port 5900 with no luck. I have e4200. This is for the purposes of RealVNC. I followed the steps from here:

http://PortForward.com/English/routers/port_forwarding/Cisco/Linksys-E4200/RealVNC.htm

I have windows 7 and internet safety of nortn. I've disabled the firewall and added a rule to redirect port 5900 under windows but does not help either.

any idea what else do I do? Thank you.

Thanks for all your replies. However, pfporterchecker has always said that the port is not open! Here's what I've tried so far:

-reset the default router

-windows Firewall includes the exception for port 5900

-updated the firmware (there was a new one that just came out a couple of days!)

-filter disabled in the Security tab options

-forwarded port according to the link in the ther first port

How about you, you isolate the problem. Try front/open another port number and see if that will open uisng pfporterchecker. If it will also say 'Not open', try disabling UPNP and then check again through pfportercheckern.

I am brought to believe that Airport Extreme is not blocking ports, and to forward port 5900 to a non-existent address.

Can someone on this and perhaps provide clear instructions on how to forward a port to a non-existent address?

By default, as a NAT router, all incoming ports on the airport base stations are blocked. Has no way to specifically block ports (incoming or outgoing) through the AirPort Utility limit.

Your suggestion of redirecting from one port to a non-existent address should work.

For port mapping/forwarding, check out this Tip to the user for more details. As for the IP address to use, I suggest that take you a from outside the DHCP scope by default on the base... which is 10.0.1.2 - 10.0.1.200. So, 10.0.1.201 should do.

    Hello

I came across this issue before and unfortunately I do not have the exact answer but as I couldn't find any documentation that States the maximum amount of rules that you can create for port forwarding.

Now, based on personal experience, I can confirm that it supports at least 30 port forwarding rules (probably many more) that I can before configured on this router.

I'm sorry that my answer is not as complete as I'd like but I share this info with you could useful evidence.

Please let me know if it works for you.

    My WAN IP-> a.b.c.d (R)

    My WAN IP-> a.b.c.d (S)

    My WAN IP-> a.b.c.d (S)

    My WAN IP-> a.b.c.d (S)

The server on the internal LAN access is great and I can access port 22 on the server on the local network (Note: there is a L3 switch in the environment and inside the IP segments are 10.0.1.0/24 and 10.0.5.0/24 routable both.)

This is what I did so far and would like more ideas on this subject that I am currently facing to. thanks!

    Hello

Configuring static PAT (Port Forward) seemed correct to me.

If you use the IP address of ' outside ' interface you would generally configure the parameter "interface" , and not the IP address.

public static interface 2022 22 netmask 255.255.255.255 tcp (indoor, outdoor) 10.0.5.200

Of course if you can/want to save a public IP address for this server only you could configure static NAT

public static 10.0.5.200 (inside, outside) subnet mask 255.255.255.255

That would bind essentially those 2 IP addresses, and you can allow services that are needed for the current server. Naturally, you will also need to allow traffic in the external ACL to the new public IP address.

But it should also work with your configurations. If you want to use the IP address or a separate public IP's to you.

If you are missing the 'road' to the 10.0.5.0/24 subnet in your PIX configuration so it is an obvious problem in why the server is inaccessible from the Internet. So, I would start by adding the "itinerary" necessary and retest. If it does not then would be good to verify that the routing between the server and the PIX is fine. For example, there is a route to the PIX server, and the server has a default route takes traffic to the PIX.

    Hope this helps

  • How open/forward ports on a workstation?

    Hello!

I am running a VMware workstation, windows xp SP3.

My primary operating system is Vista

    My guest OS is XP

My network is bridged (?) to the guest OS.

How would I go about opening a port forwarding / on the guest OS? Trying to play an online game.

Thank you very much for reading,

If your network is configured to use the Bridged mode, then nothing in the VMware software for you to do.  Check your Windows Firewall settings in your host and your guest.

I just noticed a horizontal port, on the 3/4 "to 1" wide, on the front of the x 201 tablet, to the right of the screen-lock release button.  What is this port for?  Could I have lost coverage for her, or is it still open?

    Hi jkriegel,

I think what you are referring to is the card reader 5 in 1 or 3-in-1 Media Card Reader Slot. (Screenie below)

  • using a remote mac

Hello. I have an iMac and MacBook, both running El Capitan. I'll be spending in another city while my wife stays (for once) in our current location. The iMac will remain here; I'll take the MacBook with me. Is there a way of putting things up so that if my wife has a problem with the iMac, I can remotely access the iMac since my MacBook in the other city and use the iMac as if it were with me?

I have seen that there are ways to share files between computers, but I wasn't able to find how to do what I'm wanting to do as described here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    Please update your signature

I will give several options.  I suggest test and get working at 2, because it is difficult to run from home and to solve the problem if you are using the remote access method stops working.  Having 2 methods gives you options.

    • Select iMac system-> sharing-> screen sharing preferences (make sure you have very good passwords on the user accounts on the iMac https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm> more long and easy to remember & enter, is better than complicated & short http://xkcd.com/936/>; good advice in general)
    • Configure the home router where the iMac is to port - forward port 5900 from the internet to the iMac. http://PortForward.com/>.  That of why you want good passwords, like the iMac, sharing of port number screen will be exposed to the Internet, and 5900 is a well-known port number, there is script-kiddies always try to see if someone has exposed the port with an easy to guess password and account.  Chances are, they do not know the user name, but a good password just means it's much more difficult to guess.
    • Get a free dynamic DNS name of no - IP.com, and then run the dynamic DNS update utility of no - IP.com on the iMac so that you have a name and not an IP address you connect to (no - IP.com will be asked to confirm you still want to free dynamic DNS name once a month).
    • Since the Macbook using Finder-> Go-> to connect to the server-> vnc://the.dynamic.dns.name
  • VNC on LAN

I have an incredible degree of latency (minutes) when using on my network without wire screen sharing. It works very well to go outside the network, or conecting to outside a computer configured with forwarding port 5900.

Internally, however, something is creating a problem. Port forwarding should not be a factor on my local network.

Technicians Apple has determined is not in the software system by ethernet connection and get appropriate speeds.

Is it something in the firewall of my router E2500 that needs to be ready to open things up internally?

You increase your wireless performance. Make sure that you run the new firmware.

Use a wifi like "Wifi Analyzer" for andriod analyizer to make sure that your wireless channels are not overlapping with good spacing.

For optimal performance, you can use the Protocol Wireless N (N won't force) with active support WMM. Fasting more the width of the channel the wireless.

If you signal loses two bars on the 5 GHz for this location you might as well replace the 2. 4 GHZ.

  • Router not configured for port forwarding

I use a modem wireless to my ISP, they block all ports less than 1024 and I need to forward ports 80 & 440

    How can I solve this?

If you configure your router for a LenovoEMC Personal Cloud and always see the message, "Not configured router for port forwarding" under personal cloud Configuration, one or more of the following ports are probably blocked by your internet provider (ISP): 80, 443or port selected in the range 50500-50599 .

Port 80 is used for internet access (HTML UN-secure) in general. If this port is blocked, but the ports 443 and 50500 are open, the Personal Cloud will work correctly even if the error message appears.

Port 443 is used for remote access on the host network storage device. If this port is blocked, but the port selected in the range 50500 is open, you will be able to use the Personal Cloud LenovoEMC and invite others to use it, but you will not be able to access your network storage device via the Internet URL. (See answer ID 30773 for more information on access remotely through Personal Cloud LenovoEMC.)

A port in the range of 50500-50599 must be routed through the router to use the function LenovoEMC Personal Cloud. If this port is blocked by your ISP, you will not be able to access the Personal Cloud to your network storage device or invite others to join the Personal Cloud. (For more information, see answer ID 29070 .)

  • LRT214 Port Forwarding does not

First of all, when you create a service in the port forwarding section, why to select the two TCP/UDP has been omitted from the selection must be embarrassing for Linksys.  Creation of 2 services, one for the other for UDP and TCP are bad design.  Would love to see that this problem has been corrected in future updates of the firmware.

The main problem is I have configured port forwarding services, but I can't get anything to work.  I am able to access remotely to the router using the port 1443 that is configured in a separate section.  I worked in the network design and mgmt for 10 years and why Linksys decided to make the management for the LRT214 so different interface, then the rest of the market was a bad decision.  Is there anything else you can suggest to help out why these ports cannot be opened through the FW?

On this router logs show nothing.  There is no log for blocked inbound connections and there is a class router business?

After setting up some boxes of Windows on the local network, then transfer to a custom RDP listening port, I am able to RDP in these Windows boxes remotely.  It verifies that the Linksys router is forwarding ports correctly.  The question then is something on the Synology device itself.  Thanks for your response!

What is your internet IP address, tsester? I think that there is a double NAT on your network. If you get a private IP address, I suggest that you contact your ISP and your current subscription go to full bridge mode. Next, configure the router again based on the new settings and see if it will solve the problem.
