How open/forward ports on a workstation?

Hello!

I am running a VMware workstation, windows xp SP3.

My primary operating system is Vista

My guest OS is XP

My network is bridged (?) to the guest OS.

How would I go about opening a port forwarding / on the guest OS? Trying to play an online game.

Thank you very much for reading,

Spen.

If your network is configured to use the Bridged mode, then nothing in the VMware software for you to do.  Check your Windows Firewall settings in your host and your guest.

Of course - just go on this PC (or computer) and r / click on the DVD/CD drive - you should see "eject" as shown below. Usually there will be a button in the center of the disc too... but sometimes well hidden tray! -Ric.

  • Try to open the port or do port forwarding for update of the game client (improve the download speed)

I recently participated in the beta FFXIV and im not to attempt to update the client. It happened for a day now and im only at 78%. I looked on the forums on the site and he told me I should do port forwarding and ill be able to download the updated much more quickly. So my question is how do I port forwarding on a router NetGear on Windows Vista.

    Hello

Ports must be sent to the IP of the specific computer.

A specific port can only be transferred to a computer.

He must be facing forward in the router and also via the firewall software.

Instructions depends on the specific router you have (the manual force) be useful and the specific firewall software that you use (using the software may contain instructions).

in our environment, there is an application that opens port 80 on workstations when it is installed, but it is not allowed on preimeter FW

could you please tell what are the security risks for leaving port 80, opened on the workstations? or it is considered to be safe unless it is not allowed on the preimeter FW?

  • Firewall: How to open a port tcp inside and out on a single line

How can we combine the firewall command to open port 80 to tcp in and tcp out without having to publish twice?

    esxcfg-firewall - o 80, tcp, in, web

    esxcfg-firewall - o 80, tcp, out, web

N ° because it is a completely different situation.

When you open in port - allow you to access port 80 on the local computer from the network. When you open port - allow you to access port 80 on remote computers from the local computer. Usually there is no need to open the ports both in.

    Hi Ames66,

It happens more often because the firewall blocks the program and to allow that program to communicate through the firewall, you can usually do that by selecting the program on the Exceptions tab in Windows Firewall.

If you have Windows Firewall on your computer, follow the steps in this link:

Allow a program to communicate through Windows Firewall

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/allow-a-program-to-communicate-through-Windows-Firewall

Open a port in Windows Firewall

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-a-port-in-Windows-Firewall

If you use a third party firewall manually give exception to the program.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Tecra M1 - Modem does not work (could not open a port)

I have a problem: after you have reinstalled Windows XP and on my Tecra M1 drivers, modem does not work. It can not diagnose himself - he always comes a warning: "cannot open a port (COM). It can be used by another device or application. I installed the latest Toshiba drivers for the modem, but nothing changes. How can I solve this problem? Looking forward for your advice!
    Best regards.

    Hello

Have you installed the drivers in the correct order? Not? So do it!
Have you installed the software or additional devices which could have a bad influence on the modem?
Check the status of the modem in Device Manager. You don't see any yellow exclamation?

Try to start the test on the modem within the operating system.
Check the operation of the Modem under
    Start-> Control Panel-> phone and Modem Options-> Modems tab-> properties-> Diagnostics
by pressing the 'button interrogate Modem.

If the information window about the Modem contains a list of COMMANDS (including ATI2, ATI3, ATI4 etc.), then the modem is installed correctly. The ATI5 command ends with the number for the parameters selected regional (for example Germany = 06).
To change the regional setting please use the Toshiba Internal Modem region Select utility.

  • Unable to forward Port 5900

Hi, I think I tried everything I could think to forward port 5900 with no luck. I have e4200. This is for the purposes of RealVNC. I followed the steps from here:

    http://PortForward.com/English/routers/port_forwarding/Cisco/Linksys-E4200/RealVNC.htm

I have windows 7 and internet safety of nortn. I've disabled the firewall and added a rule to redirect port 5900 under windows but does not help either.

any idea what else do I do? Thank you.

Thanks for all your replies. However, pfporterchecker has always said that the port is not open! Here's what I've tried so far:

    -reset the default router

-windows Firewall includes the exception for port 5900

-updated the firmware (there was a new one that just came out a couple of days!)

-filter disabled in the Security tab options

-forwarded port according to the link in the ther first port

How about you, you isolate the problem. Try front/open another port number and see if that will open uisng pfporterchecker. If it will also say 'Not open', try disabling UPNP and then check again through pfportercheckern.

  • Impossible to open a port on Windows 7

I have a mobile application that needs me to open the port 23424 on my system. I forward the port in my router and helped him. Then, I opened the port in the Windows Firewall. The app would not work. I put my system in DMZ, still no connection. I then unplugged the two firewalls, and again, I could not access the port.

I checked on www.canyouseeme.org. and it reports "error: I could not see your service to the 76.xxx.xxx.xx on the port (23424) reason: Connection Refused" I then tried a new router, open port, the same thing. I can't understand what is blocking or refuses the connection. No matter what I do, something is obstacle in this regard.

I have Time Warner cable and talked with them and we checked that their router is not active and acting as a bridge to my router. All other services are working properly, I can't just open this port.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus software and a router Belkin N750.

    What Miss me? Thank you.

You only need to run a firewall and not more than one firewall on your computer...

PortQry message means that your problem probably is on the router, since you can connect with PortQry to this port from another PC on your LAN.

I would check with the router manufacturers support site to help port forwarding...
