Hello

Consult this publication article HP for the creation of a recovery on USB.

  • Use a blank USB key with at least 32 GB of memory. HP recommends using a brand name of a manufacturer that you trust.

  • Backup on USB fails for lack of space; but it's a blank disk and there is no files on it!

I have improved my NV + v1 (4.1.14) with 4 x 2 TB drives and I met the 4 k block size problem. So I'll try my backup device so that I can factory reset it.

The current size of the volume is 1.3 to, so I took on one of the 2 TB drives to use as a backup via USB. 1.3 TB should fit easily in 2 TB, right?

I added the 2 TB drive to the front USB port and formatted in ext3, it shows very well in stocks and a space free expected.

So I made a backup and the source = task share / dest = USB/Sharename/and he ran.

It works for a few minutes and stops with this error:

Encountered error copying data from the source ==> /USB_HDD_4_1 path / / bla due to lack of disk space. [Job 003]

I look at the USB and it is FULL. Zero byte available. He made a few records, but they are all empty.

    What is going on?

Are there hidden files (.appledouble, etc.)? I ran BlueHarvest on the volume before the backup, and he deleted a bunch of them. But not 2 value of TB.

I use this volume mainly with my Mac... am I missing?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you

OK, I got the multiple partition problem.

When partitioning a disk with Mac disk utility, it creates a partition from FAT32 MASK called EFI which is used for Intel to start. The EFI partition is confusing RAIDiator and leading them to try to use the small EFI partition instead of the large main.

Since I am not start this drive (it's only for backup), it is safe to remove it. You must enable a debug option to see the partition in disk utility. Google search for "EFI Partition delete on mac" to see how to do it.

Also, I used EXTfs for mac by Paragon Software that allows you to create and mount ext3 on your mac partitions. http://www.Paragon-drivers.com/ExtFS-Mac/

Backup operation runs now... If all goes well, it ends with success!

You have to understand the Time Machine backup otherwise locally the CF network. It is easy enough to move the backup network local but much harder the other way around.

  • Satellite Z830 - backup on USB storage drive recovery

I need to make the backup of this Z830 recovery system.
But unfortunately, the system does not recognize the usb storage drive to make this recovery.

Obviously, the storage usb drive have plenty of space and OK to work on this Z830.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

The recovery image can be created on a CD/DVD disc or USB memory stick. As far as I know you cannot use a common USB HDD for recovery.

  • Rescue and recovery lists no backup on USB Iomega eGO drive

    Hello

I have been using an Iomega eGO external backups USB drive.

I was able to identify and remove (if necessary) backups in Windows 7 and rescue & recovery running, but I can't get the list of backups at the start of a recovery in rescue & recovery DVD.

Basically I replaces unencrypted with a SSD hard drive that supports encryption.

The goal was to use a full backup immediately before removing the HARD drive to restore the complete system.

At the start of the recovery DVDs, recovery utility & rescue lists not all backups, even when the check box for the list of backups on other systems is checked.

It makes no difference if the selection of THE places or USB external drive.

    Any ideas?

Backups are not much good if you can't get back them.

If my old drive did not then I would be in a worse state than this. I can't say I'm impressed.

Well, I've finally sorted this issue.

I tried to create a new recovery disk.

I even tried the recovery time in Windows and see what backups it detected. Yet once, I drew a blank.

    The question was this:

On my W510 at least, none of the USB3.0 ports are recognized by Lenovo rescue and recovery software when you select the USB storage device. Once connected to a single USB 2.0 port the USB eGo has been recognized and listed backups.

Unfortunately, this means a minimum of 6 hours to restore from a full backup!

  • ACER S7-391 RECOVERY OF A BACKUP ON USB DRIVE - BOOTING FROM A USB DRIVE.

The manual shows as below: -.

If it is not already enabled, you must enable the

F12 Boot Menu and once switched on and registered:-

During startup, press Fn> + => to open the start menu. The boot menu allows you to choose which device, select the USB drive. Use the arrow keys to select the USB device, then press on Enter.

I activated with F12 success and after pressing F12(Fn+=) only the windows startup menu appears with no possibility of selection.

I should if Acer community member can help with instructions step by step on how to get a boot menu by selecting the USB stick to boot from.

    Thanks for help

Boot Mode UEFI is where you were mistaken. You will need to attach it to Legacy to boot from USB drive and restore your backup, UEFI will happen to return to Windows (according to Acer).

Your USB flash is bootable, however it does not contain your actual backup (disk image) files. If you did your USB bootable after backup, well, your backup went, as in the process of making a USB flash drive bootable, that the drive is wiped.

I would suggest to update your Bios, the direct download of the here are more late (2.15).

    Hello

This error can occur if there are problems of system files on the drive selected for the backup file location. Have you tried to save the backup to a drive or another location? Please try the following to fix the disc
[1] method: Using Check Disk to find the files corrupt
    • In the start menu, look for invites
    • Right click on command prompt and select run as administrator
    • When the application starts, insert the following text and press ENTER: Chkdsk.exe/f/x k:
Where we mean K:  the disc damaged.
NOTICE: Check disk is maybe not able to lock the drive and launch the operation if the disk contains files required for Windows to run correctly. It asks if you want to schedule a check disk at the next startup upwards instead.

  • How to make an ESXi backup on USB?

I have a few servers ESXi 4.1 on USB keys. Now I wonder how can I save the config ESXi and USB itself, in which case the USB will be dead or damaged? One of the USB key on a single server is already showing the signs to go to rest forever, and I would like to have a backup of it. Is there a tool I can use to create a backup on another USB key?

    xcom1000 wrote:

Thanks, I was looking for some kind of script. And the backup process itself is ok, but the restore configuration procedure needs to be alive and running of the ESXi host. So in case of emergency (USB key works do not), what would be the correct procedure to restore the server without hollow is a complete reinstallation of ESXi and reload the config with vicfg-cfgbackup?

Well, everything depends on how many ESXi servers you have.

If you have small env is not worth to spend a lot of time for preparation of extra super recovery too. I don't know anyone who supports up that ESX or ESXi breaks.

    For small env:

    1. PowerCLI script -you can create the script CLI power for each of your guests with specific parameters

    http://communities.VMware.com/community/VMTN/Server/vSphere/automationtools/PowerCLI

    Catering requirements:

ESXi server must be running in - running

    restore procedure

manual installation of ESXi (15 minutes), after installation, run a script (2 minutes) against the new server and DONE

    2. with the help of vMA

Create a bash script that would back up ESXi firmware, set it on a weekly basis in crone (on the server of the vMA)

    Restore requirements

    ESXi server must be running

ESXi must be on that same level as if it were before the construction accident

    restore procedure

manual installation of ESXi (15 minutes), after installation restore a Firmware using the new server and DONE

  • Can not backup on USB drive, says that there is not enough space, but there are many

I was able to save only once.  the total size was about 4.2 billion.  Now XP doesn't let me put anything on the drive flash 8 bigger than 4,2 g. I tried to crush, deletion, reformatting, renaming - you name it.  I can put large files on the flash drive with other computers, so there must be something done XP.  In properties, it shows a lot of space, but I still get the full message of media

Well even if you have too many files, size does not matter in the folder root of the USB then
You can not copy more to it... try to reduce the number of files in the root folder. Try to copy everything
the files on your hard drive and remove it from the USB and try to copy your file to it. Rob - bicycle - Mark Twain said it is good.

  • Factory default backup (USB Noo - Noo of?)

Quick question, I created a backup of USB factory default and it has become corrupted somehow and I have a small question.

When you create a key recovery USB with a 32 GB USB Flash drive, will be corrupted recovery if I put additional files on the USB with USB recovery information?

In other words, if the USB drive is 32 GB and the recovery is 16 GB, I never will be able to use the extra 16 GB which is free for storage?

It is recommended not to use the additional free space on the USB recovery media. You can format it USB and create support of USB recovery again. You also have the possibility to buy recovery USB support for your computer from the Acer store.

  • USB drive will not appear in the finder, but is OK in disk utility

My "music backup" external USB 1 TB SSD showed in the Finder, until a few days ago, when he disappeared. I tried dismantling and Assembly of the command line. The said command-line editing is successful, but I still don't see the drive in Finder.

If I go into disk utility "First aid" reports no problem. The drive is formatted for OS X.  If I right click and say "Open in the Finder" I can see all the folders and even drag in the sidebar where they work, even after a reboot. I can't see the drive at a higher level.

How can I fix it? I guess a solution would be to create a folder called "Music disc" and then move all files on the disc in it and then put it on the sidebar, but it seems silly. How can I get my hard drive appears again in the finder.

PS Si I use a third-party file manager, such as ordering a PRO, the USB drive is available for selection in the drop-down list of disks attached.

    Help!

The Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open the Script Editor and run:

    the shell script ' chflags nohidden ' / Volumes/VolumeName /'.

put the name of the drive where is VolumeName.
