Unable to get emails with rel. 38.4. Rel. 38.3 worked well. RESOLVED by reinstalling 38.4.0. Unknown CAUSE

Thunderbird updated (December 2, 2015) itself of rel. 38.3 to 38.4 yesterday and I was immediately impossible to receive emails, even if I could send them without problem. Checked with my ISP that my settings were correct (they were), turned off all security software and Add-ons. Still no chance to send emails. In desperation I restored my laptop for a day or two before that set Thunderbird to upgrade to rel., 38.3 and then disabled the automatic updates. I was immediately able to get my emails again. What's up with rel. 38.4? It is clearly buggy and I hesitate to accept additional upgrades with this lesson hanging over me. I'm under 10 Windows on a 64-bit computer.

Restore points are not necessary. Just install above of what is currently installed with the version you want to

    Whenever I have send email with attachments of photo or photo the receiver responds that, although they could read the text, they were unable to see the photos. It happened all of a sudden for a few days ago. So I'm unable to send postcards because they received are encrypted. Please help - thanks.

    You use Outlook?  If you do not use the RTF format, as then the recipients cannot read your images and attachments.  Either use plain text or HTML format in Outlook messages, but not in the RTF format.

    You get a specific error or the message just stay in the Outbox?

    Also, are you sure that the attachment is too large?  Try to send something very small, like a small text file.

    Another thing, even if it is little probable that the real problem. I want to just make sure that you are on the latest version of the program. Go to the file menu and about and make sure you're on Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528).  It is not likely that having an older version is the real problem, but it's always good from the most recent version to let you know that you have all the bug fixes.

    I'm having a lot of trouble to get online with my laptop.

    My roommate has recently got a new EE Brightbox. It works perfectly well with his laptop and mobile phone. Also works with my mobile phone. However, when I try to use my laptop it only gives me "Local access". I have no problem connecting to the router, but it just won't let me go online.

    Tried to disconnect/reconnect the connection Wireless on laptop from scratch with wired connection to router, router and router reset re-booting. None of them have worked.

    Any help would be great?

    I have a guess on why it has stopped working. Firefox 40 has some changes to how extensions can work with the user interface, so quite a few extensions that have been more than one year must be updated for Firefox 40. It has been updated on January 10, 2012.

    Anyway, the way of 'long' to display the passwords saved in Firefox is through the Options page, the Security Panel, the saved passwords button.

  • Unable to get email to work with the new address to iCloud.

    I used Mail for years but have barely entered iCloud Web site after you have configured the new ending by e-mail address: iCloud.com.

    I have actually 3 addresses of e-mail on the go in Mail:

    -New address iCloud (that I can send and receive mail, but I can't find any info account for it after it is created).

    -Old address hotmail.co.uk (which I use daily).

    -For my Apple ID I use outlook.com. This e-mail address appears in my account, but I use it for mail. The confusing is that my new address iCloud does not appear like this outlook.com you do.

    I have been using my hotmail address to send/receive messages, but I want to get rid of it and use my new address to iCloud.

    I click on the following: Preferences > account information > Alias > This shows my address hotmail.co.uk (not the new iCloud email address), and clicking on modify the Alias takes me to account, then + and - an email address, then I add the new address to iCloud and then it freezes!  When my wife does it to see how it should work, by clicking on edit aliases, it is automatically taken on its iCloud site where she can change all his own.

    In the accounts, I have 2 boxes to the left.  One for "hotmail.co.uk" and one for "iCloud", but iCloud show my e-mail address Apple ID that ends in: outlook.com

    For the last few months I spend hours ranging from help in support of sites etc sites, try to change my Windows live mail 2011 ID so I could e-mail. Somehow be an absolute genius, I entered an ID Yahoo active as my windows live mail ID.     Try this:

    Click the Start button, select Control Panel and click Add/REMOVE. On the page Add/Remove to find the windows live essentials and click on modify it / remove button. This will display a page that offers the possibility to uninstall or repair. Check the button fix and on the next page, select this option to repair windows live mail. I hope this helps.

  • Updates of windows installed and now unable to get online with the Explorer.

    I am running windows vista and installed updates and now cannot get online.  I tried to run the system restore, but that did not help.  This happened once before when the only web sites that I could access were secure web sites, I have changed the security settings and that fixes the problem.  Nothing works for now.

    If not help to tweak the parameters of your third-party firewall, try the following:

    1. disable your antivirus, all modules of Norton (as applicable), a real-time protection provided by an anti-spyware application (with the exception of Windows Defender; includes the Tea Timer of Spybot, AVG AS guard.exe, SpySweeper guards, etc.), disable the third-party firewall AND THEN select Windows Firewall.

    NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) except #4 below until your antivirus application has been reactivated!  If you use a free ZA firewall, you may need to uninstall instead of disable.

    2 uninstall 'update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) for Vista (KB976325)' or "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976325)" via start | Control Panel | The Maintenance and the system (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update | Installed updates day & reboot.

    3 d - c #1 above.

    4 manually run Windows Update and install important updates available (i.e. KB976325).

    5 reboot & make sure everything in #1 above is on again and, if necessary, disable the Windows Firewall and enable (or reinstalling) your third-party firewall.
