    you have the service disabled?

Click Start > run > type in services.msc box and Microsoft Management Console will be open.

Search for automatic updates. Right-click the line, and then click Properties. In the dialog that opens, make sure Startup Type is automatic. Click on apply. Wait for it. Then click Start under Service status. You will see another pop-up window but it is a progress bar. If the service does not start, you will get an error. Otherwise, you will see wuauserv in the Task Manager. You should also see the yellow shield which shows you download updates. Also check your Windows Firewall and third-party firewall installed on the machine. Another place is the router/modem. You may need your ISP to help with the party.

  • TURN OFF automatic updating for printer in Windows 7

    Best regards

I'm a tech support person, I have a client with a Cap HP 1315, in Italy.

I want to DISABLE the automatic updates functionality check, can someone help me to do this?

    Operating system is Windows 7.

My client doesn't want automatic updates, prefer to check the updates manually. I agree that

This function should be optional. It should be easy to check in the properties or somewhere in

Put this on or turned off, but after a long look at the awkward interface for the printer and elsewhere in the operating system

I can't find a way to see this feature and turn it off.

Thanks in advance for any help here... best regards.

    Hi William,.

In the Menu start, open the all programs, open HP and launch the application updated HP - you should see a settings button in the lower part, click on this button and change the frequency of checking of updates (select never you want to manually check), then click on apply to save the setting.

    Kind regards

  • Cannot turn off automatic updates and the Error Message on Loadup and Peridoically subsequently

The following error message appears when the computer starts up, when I click on "check for updates", when I try to turn off the automatic updates in the preferences and at random times.  In the preferences, more precisely, I am able to choose the area that must go out looking for updates, but when I try to save the setup I get this exact error message.

    -----------------------------

    AdobeARM.exe

The procedure entry point CreateProcessWithTokenW is not found in the library of Hotlinks ADVAPI32. DLL.

    -----------------------------

The computer is an old laptop running Windows XP.  I think that it's Windows XP is a key reason why the error occurs.  That said I can't replace the laptop right now so I would turn off rather updated.  I've updated to the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe Web site.  The new version added a 4th checkbox in the section to turn off the automatic updates, but I always get the same exact error message.

Is there a hidden Windows Settings folder I have can be directed to Adobe Reader?  A file where I can change the automatic updates option from 1 to 0 to turn it off?  Because the software does not work.

Please, create the following registry key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown]

    "bUpdater" = DWORD: 00000000

In addition, you can run msconfig (via the Win + R), go to the Startup tab and deselct point of 'Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager' (which corresponds to the process AdobeARM.exe), press on apply and restart your machine.

Original title: my computer will not allow the update to service pack 3 windows xp, how to fix this?

How can I activate the automatic updates?

Windows Update no longer works unless you have at least XP Service Pack 3.

Right-click on 'My Computer' and then select 'Properties' to determine your level of service current pack.  If you are in SP1A or SP2, you can go directly to SP3.  If you do not have the service pack or have SP1, then you must install SP2 and SP3.  You can download a stand-alone Setup for SP2 and SP3 on the following links.  Ignore the verbage on 'professionals only '.  I you hereby dub a professional...
