Uninstall XP after Windows 7 upgraded

I installed Windows 7 Pro (upgrade) in dual boot with Windows XP (of course XP was required to install the upgrade anyway). Now, can I remove the XP partition (remove XP from the start with Easy BCD screen) to regain disk space?

I know that if I ever need to reinstall Windows 7, I have to install my XP first.  In fact, I use True Image, so I guess I can make an image of the disk with W7 after the withdrawal of the XP and just use it if I have to start over.

7 uses a "100 mg boot partition" and is accessible through the bcdedit utility. " You will want to remove the 'store' for the old installation

Start on a DVD, "repair my computer" link opens the WinRE recovery menu. Command prompt:

type: bcdedit and finding the right {GUID} of the 'old' install.

following type: bcdedit/delete {long number}

Your ability to 'push' the partition will depend on where the old partition is the disk, with regard to the partition of 7.

I suspect that you would have to "crush" the xp with installation of second 7, remove the 7 installation first, remove the partition of 7 first installation and develop.

You will probably need the option 'phone' to activate again.

Disconnect from the cloud on the machine that is being upgraded before you start the upgrade process.

When the system is upgraded you can install the Cloud service in the same way that you did initially.

  • Portege M800-10V - creator of recovery after Windows 7 upgrade

    Hello

The creator of recovery disk can only be used on the pre-installed operating system, in your case of Windows Vista. After upgrading to Windows 7, you can t more use it.

With other words disk recovery contains only Vista and you can create a new one with Windows 7. After using the recovery disk, you also have the Windows 7 upgrade disk.

  • Why can't I enter my upgrade key after Windows Anytime Upgrade on Vista?

I bought the software update Window 7 Ultimate. I followed the instructions on the box:

    Click the Start button

In the search box, type Windows Anytime Upgrade

Click Windows Anytime Upgrade and clide enter an upgrade key.

Yet, there is no link that says enter an upgrade key. There is only a link to the site Web microsoft talks Windows 7.

I downloaded the Windows Upgrade Advisor. I did everyting that he told me to do. He checked that the computer was eligible for an upgrade (Toshiba Satellite running Vista).  I tried again with the Windows Anytime Upgrade again. There is still no link to enter the upgrade key.

What should I do to get to the place to enter the upgrad key?

Please note that there are no Windows Anytime Upgrade (WAU) for Windows Vista to Windows 7. There is only Windows Upgrade (WU) in which you need to buy a Windows 7 disc and upgrade of the key. You can refer to the link below for more information about upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7.

  • SOLVED! -Bluetooth not found after Windows 7 upgrade process - U350 only or other institutions?

Man, I am hoping somone will be able to point me in the right direction...

Anyway, has received Windows 7 Upgrade disks in the mail and decided to install them today because I had little time. Chose to 'upgrade' to the previous version of Vista (don't hate me for not doing a custom installation, 'clean'), and everything seemed fine, until I realized that my Bluetooth is not working (or even found in Device Manager).

Run the separate drive Lenovo sent with the Win7 upgrade disk and made me worry more because the installation of driver told me that he could not find a Bluetooth device (which confirmed the same as Device Manager). Tried to download the drivers manually on the internet without success.

Someone at - it ideas? The only possible 'factor' would be that I usually leave the Bluetooth in Vista, and when I ran the upgrade, Bluetooth was off I would have thought that Win7 would have seen the device anyway (regardless of the situation).

    Thanks to all in advance!

Really should try to do a Forum search next time (instead of just google)...

The answer to this was the Fn + F5 to ACTIVATE the Bluetooth module FIRST, before the system would see the in-camera. Once you actually turn, drivers can be installed according to normal... Thank GOD!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the pioneers who have actually found this in the first place. Hope this was able to help some lost soul who has the same problem a few hours (and installs / uninstalls useless).

  • Help! Computer connection issues / printer after Windows 7 upgrade

I HOPE THAT SOMEONE HERE CAN HELP ME!  I am frustrated beyond belief.

I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.  My computer is a hp dv5 pc, 64-bit.  My wireless printer is a hp OfficeJet J4680c.  Before the upgrade, wireless printing was perfect.

Since the upgrade, when I try to print, two things will happen:

    (1) when I try to print, there is a mistake that the document cannot print.

    OR

    (2) when I try to print, the printer icon appears that the document will print, but nothing happens.  When I right click and open the Active printer, it shows that it is "printing", however the number of pages displayed is n/a.  After 2-3 minutes, the document simply disappears from the print screen, as if it printed.

I went through the troubleshooting steps on my hp PC help & support, I have read the forums for hours and tried various fixes, I went through the center of solutions hp printer troubleshooting steps...

The final diagnosis is that the computer is unable to 'find' the printer. Here is some additional information:

I was able to print occasionally during the troubleshooting process (see below for more information)

All the drivers are up to date.

Computer and the printer are connected to the same network wireless in my house.

Whenever I have manually print the "HP Network Configuration Page," it shows that the printer is "ready".

    Windows defender is OFF

    The Windows Firewall is DISABLED

3rd party firewall Vipre has been RUNNING, with the same results to be

What follows can offer anyone a clue as to the problem:

Four times during this process of troubleshooting, I completely uninstalled printer and then reinstalled using the updated driver and instructions on the hp Web site.

Whenever during the installation process, the computer does not find the printer, and I have to manually enter the IP address of the printer.  Then, the computer does not find the printer, and the installation continues.  Until he comes to the end, when it is completed at 98%. Then, I get a message:

"Rediscovery printer detected problems. Maybe your PC is not able to track changes in the online status of your printer. If you use firewall software, make sure the port UDP 427 is unblocked from your printer at 192.168.0.5 for your PC. To resolve the problem, try to feed your printer market. »

(of course checked summer port and the printer power is turned and the...) I followed all steps completely).

Then, I give myself a choice or continue installing the software without connecting to the printer, or to continue with the installation of the printer.

When I tried the first choice, install the software without the printer, then I went back later to install the printer. During the installation of the printer, I'm at the same point at 98%, with the same message.

I also tried to install the printer in any case and it ends up all right, and then the printer worked for a day or two. But after a day or two, I'll be once more cannot print, and I will either receive the error message, otherwise it is not only print (SEE the BEGINNING OF THIS POST).

I've tried everything I know to do and no message forum or troubleshooting is now offering me any new information.

    Can you help me???

Have you tried the 'updates' on this page?  There is a couple who look like they would help.

  • Problems with Maxx Audio after Windows 10 'upgrade '.

It seems I'm not the only one with this problem. I use a laptop computer Inspiron 17R 5737 provided with Windows 8.1. After upgrading to Windows 10, I noticed two things: 1. audio Dell, my Waves Maxx Audio 4 works, but miss me all my presets in the QE and I'm actually not able to set ALL the parameters at all. I called Dell 3 times now, for a total of 6 hours on the phone, where they had me not uninstall, then download and reinstall the Realtek audio driver. After you have downloaded and installed 2 times, the EQUALIZER presets are back, but I still cannot do anything else in the program. I noticed, after the first time, update the driver causing the error with Maxx Audio. So the second time I reinstalled it, I do NOT update the driver, but I am still unable to make any changes to the program. It's very frustrating because I record music and mix the final product with my laptop.

The 2nd question I have to be carried out in another forum, as it has to do with my laptop to wake up do not sleep mode.

The audio issue any help would be highly appreciated.

I solved this problem first by downloading the latest audio drivers from Dell Realtek. For my XPS15/M3800 is Realtek ALC3661 Audio Codec version 6.0.1.7525, A00. It is a download of 325MB. After installing it and going through 1 or 2 reboots, my Dell Audio Sound Manager has been restored, but all presets MaxxAudio were missing. To resolve this problem, I opened the Manager of devices--> sound, video and game controllers, the user clicks Realtek High Definition Audio and selected update driver software. I chose automatically search for updates. Windows has found a version update 6.0.1.7628, installed, rebooted and then my presets have been restored.

  • Qosmio F50 - FN keys does not work after Windows 7 upgrade

    Hello

After installing Windows 7 my 'FN' key doesn't work anymore. The big problem is the upgrade to Windows 7, I turned off my touchpad using "FN + F9". Now that my FN key work and I cannot turn my touchpad.

Is there a way to reverse without using the "fn"? And is there a way I can fix my FN key? Accessible from start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > accessibility does not work. Is somehow connected? What can I do?

Feedback and assistance is greatly appreciated.

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium: after Windows 10 Upgrade on Officejet 6700 scanning does not work anymore - can not find scanner

    Hello

Having finally decided to take the plunge to upgrade to Windows 10, I discovered that my Officejet 6700 Premium previously peripheral work will scan is no longer.

My connection to the device is via a wired connection with a static IP address on the printer. It all worked perfectly under Windows 7, but now, I can only print to the printer to win 10.

I tried to uninstall the previously working software (under Win 7) and downloaded the latest version of the HP (OJ6700_1315 - 1.exe) software, which BTW is not a patch on the previous software that I'm used to using - but it did not help. Still no joy with the scanning feature.

I tried to uninstall all software, so I tried to launch the Wizard installation HP which seemed to re - install the last set of software (as above) with the same results - I can print it, but if I try to scan using the Officejet 6700 App it appears a dialog box saying "inaccessible Scanner. Scanner communication cannot be established. Make sure that your product is powered, check the connection and esnure that your network runs correctly. ...".  Amazing result given that the application displays all levels of printer ink, and I can print - every time!

I tried disabling the firewall - no difference, still do not see the scanner.

Tried using other windows applications; Paint, etc. - no joy.

I also tried the "HP Print Scan doctor and" nothing does - even, he gives up and says to contact HP support, with no details about what to tell them!

I hope someone else out there could have had the same problem and found a way to make it work?

    Thank you!

    Ok

In case anyone is interested, I bit the bullet and did a new install of Windows 10 on a formatted drive. I then installed the same software that I had tried on the "upgrade to Windows 7" windows, 10, and everything works as expected.

Therefore, there is definitely something wrong with the upgrade process, and the removal of the HP scanning software & resettlement never did his job correctly.

I look closely at the list of DLLs etc., charged by the printing software, but could not detect anything immediate.

Then, certainly in my case, a new facility was to solve this problem.

    See you soon,.

  • Pavilion dv6000: Pavilion dv6000 can't connect to the network after windows 10 upgrade from windows 7

Need help; I have upgraded to windows 10 and my old laptop has given fresh life.  He hastened to start and stop, did not freeze the computer programs and internet was super fast.  Then it wouldn't connect all of a sudden, or even acknowledge all networks.  No internet is portable useless.  I researched and found that many had problems with card after the upgrade to windows 10, so I started windows 7 and have no problem connecting.  I had a glimpse of what was possible with windows 10 and I want it! can someone help me understand what driver I need to download it to a flash drive before moving on again to 10.

Well, there is little hope for you, since you have an Intel wireless card.

I have a HP nc6400 with the same card as yours and it worked very well on W10, and then he leaves suddenly.

Not as bad than what you lived, but I had to keep restarting the machine and sometimes, it would be just the connection and would not reconnect.

Here's what I did to solve the problem with mine, so I hope it will work for you too...

I used this driver... a first on the list for 32 bit.

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/22116/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-software-and-drivers-for-Windows-7-

Then I changed some advanced settings for the card in the Device Manager.

Here is a list type of Intel wireless settings and how to access.

There are more settings on the link that we have for our particular model card.

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005585.html

Here are the advanced settings, which I've listed for mine...

    Ad Hoc channel 802.11 b/g value = 11

Mode of Ad Hoc QoS Value = active WMM

Mixed Mode Protection value = automatically CTS

Roaming Aggessiveness value = 1. The lowest

Transmit power value = 5. Highest

    Wireless Mode value = 6. 802.11a/b/g

  • Print spooler problems and cannot install printer driver after Windows 7 upgrade (80070706)

I just upgraded from Vista to Win 7 Ultimate.  Once installation is complete, I tried to update the drivers and install the latest updates.  Everything worked except for HP LaserJet 4 L driver.  As a first step, whenever the driver tried to install it, the print spooler service may stop working, and the driver installation failed with error code 800F0246.  I then removed everything from the spool directory, rebooted and tried again.  This time, the print spooler service has not prevented from working, but the driver still does not work with error code 80070706.

I can't find the information for this error (80070706) anywhere on the web.  Any help would be appreciated.

More information: the HP LaserJet 4 L printer is connected via a parallel to a prolific USB docking cable.  Windows recognizes the printer as the IEEE-1284 device, but says it needs driver to work.

Update: I was able to manually add the 4L driver using the print server properties dialog box, BUT if I try to add a printer after that, I get "the print processor does not exist.  If I try to add a printer without installing the driver, I get ERROR 0 x 00000002.

Everything is running as an administrator.  It worked perfectly under Vista.

Thanks for these links, but these proposals did not help nor solve the problems.

After a long and painful journey through the registry, I determined that this workstation was already installed 3rd party software, called "Pharos".  Apparently, this software was redirecting the default print processors and was clearly not compatible with Windows 7, although the installation of Win 7 never mentioned a problem of compatibility.  Once this software has been removed, and all the remains erased from the registry, there is now no problems with printers or print spooler.

In the future, it would be useful that Microsoft has actually provided certain types of useful information when these accidents occur.  Cryptic error numbers and unnecessary event log entries did not provide useful clues.

  • Aspire x 3950 - after windows 10 upgrade dvd/cd drivers missing

After upgrade windows 10 cd/dvd drivers disappeared. Microsoft technicians have worked on this for 4 days could not find the problem. Can't argue with acer because the product is not under warranty. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I don't have a recommendation on how to solve this problem, other than to go back to the previous installation of Windows. You can try to ensure that all Windows updates are installed. If that doesn't fix it, my best suggestion is to roll back. Given that this system was not qualified to upgrade the windows 10, we offer 10 Windows drivers for this product.

Maybe someone else will have a suggestion on how to make it work you can try.

  • Cisco Media Player will not play my media after Windows 7 upgrade

Last week I upgraded my operating system to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 to Windows 7 Professional.  I own a player DMP-100 which is directly plugged in my G from Linksys WRT54GS wireless router.  My computer is also connected to the router, so this problem is not a wireless issue, but it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out be associated with a.  When Vista was in charge, the DMP-100 router and Cisco Media Player is fine, although I had a devil of a time in the set up.  When I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, I realized because the BONES were inconsistent that the upgrade would eliminate all applications and I have to reload everything.

When I rebooted Lela and the Cisco Media Player, I have none of the problems that I had with Vista in the configuration.  However for some reason, the program does not play my media files.  There is a default error message coming saying the Cisco Media Server can be turned off.  This is not the case.  More when I select a streaming radio station, the player, the server and software work fine.  I feel, but the server isn't really pointing to my library, the library opens upward in the software.  I unplugged and reset the player several times.  I also deleted and reloaded the server & software media a number of times.  I always get the same results.

I don't like on radio stations.  I just want to be able to play my music and playlists. Anyone facing this problem before, and if so, is there a reason and a solution for this?

(Mod Note: edited post for the respect of the directive.) (Thank you!)

Eureka!  It's the firewall after all.  I thought I had everything checked when I added the AV Media Server and made sure the Cisco Media Player has been activated too.  Once I disabled the firewall and restarted, the press began to play as it should.  If something was definitely not right in the firewall.  It turns out that I was a fool and never saw the 'advanced settings' until I read about it in WIndows help (something I should have done at the beginning).  It was like a slap in the face.  Even if the programs were activated, there is no rule created for TCP and 8015 remote port.  It was clear as soon as I knew where to look.  I created a new outbound rule to allow TCP access port 8015, and the program worked as if it was never a problem.

I want to thank you two people who have helped me through this and patience you while I flinched around this application and operating system.  It was a total exercise in frustration, but also that of the discovery.  I really appreciate your help.  I thank you and my audio system thanks you too!
