  I installed Visual Studio Express 2015 and want to uninstall Visual Studio 2013 community.  So far, I've succumbed with this uninstall.

• ControlCenter4 - Brother scanner driver crashes after uninstalling Visual Studio 2008

  After uninstalling VS2008 ControlCenter4 software crashes. It is loaded on startup and block every time. Have also tried to prevent bootload and load it manually after Finnish startup.

  I have uninstalled several times without success. I tried CCleaner and manually deleted files remaining after uninstall.

  I know that it's related to something in Windows, something is in conflict. I just created a virtual machine running on the same host computer. Installed the software Brother here and it works fine as if it were on the host computer before uninstalling VS2008.

  If anyone knows what this could be please help. I know of course that a complete reinstall of windows the problem will be solved.   Also note that after uninstalling VS2008 the BuildNotification.exe crashed at startup. Found this to be bound to Team Foundation Server and managed to remove it manually.

  It's a good question, so I had to look it up and the MSDN Microsoft says:

  Visual Studio installs the 32-bit version of the appropriate Common Language Runtime (CLR) on an x 86 computer and the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version of the CLR on a 64-bit Windows computer. (Because Visual Studio is a 32-bit application when it is installed on a 64-bit system, it runs under WOW64.)

  We have already understood on WOW64 some time ago:

  The SysWOW64 folder (Windows on Windows) is where Windows keeps 32 bit copy of an application that may be required from time to time on your 64-bit system (files can be the same).  It makes sense that there might be files with the same name there so if a 32-bit version of a file is needed for any reason where Windows can find it.  There is no SysWOW64 folder on 32-bit systems.

  If Visual Studio is still 32-bit but will work on a 64-bit in the SysWOW64 folder system - that is why you are still able to run 32-bit applications on a 64-bit system.
