Unreadable characters in Vista

At the start of my PC with win. Vista, text has been changed from one day to the next in unreadable symbols = small circles, lines, points and squares with numbers in there. Recovery disk found nothing wrong. I have pictures of these symbols, but can't post here. I don't know what to do... Help, please

Hello, Joe Barton,

Same problem of police.  See Jeeped response:

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/i-started-up-my-computer-and-there-are-all-of/2265f1ad-877B-47AB-80fc-aa92f9b642e7

After identifying the font Marlett and Googling some variations on all in marlett fonts windows 7, I could make a choice together some ideas.

The problem seems to lie between %WINDIR%\Fonts and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Fonts registry key. If they are incorrectly crossed no font cannot be displayed if the system uses the Marlett font as a last resort.

Warning: the following describes procedures that could make your computer unusable. Use everything described here at your own risk.

Some problems have been solved by repopulating the folder of fonts with a new set of TTF and FON of DVD files and others have been resolved by deleting the registry key of fonts and restart the computer where the computer will rebuild the key and the entries/values according to the default values.

If your fonts folder seems to be filled, I try to delete or rename the folder StaticCache.dat orfms_mettadat.xml files and restart the computer. If they are not rebuilt to default values, and then replace all the fonts in this folder can resurrect your system.

Please understand that these are a few suggestions based on my 20 years of working with Windows. I have a computer with this problem to experiment with and there seems to be several causes/resolutions others have written on the subject. I only suggest some of these methods for your Windows operating system as a whole seems to be unusable without a valid display typeface.

BTW, do you have a font on a command prompt? You have tried to start in an environment ofSafe Mode with command prompt ?

  • A few key Windows 7 Home Premium OEM COA unreadable characters, is there something I can do?

I replaced the hard drive in my aunt's computer and validate the OEM key on the sticker on the bottom of the habit on his laptop computer. I tried both online activation and calling the Activation Center. It's probably because 2-3 people on the key have been rubbed off and are unreadable. Is it possible for me to post/send the key parts, I know to a microsoft representative and I have them tell me what are the characters in question? I can't the OEM SLP key which I suppose was installed on the motherboard at someone at the factory for a new key to activate windows? Is it possible to get my windows activated without having to buy another copy? Thank you.

Well, I appreciate the help. One last question; as I understand it if only I get a Toshiba l655-s5146 windows dvd and installation of recovering from it, it must recognize the activation of SLP key integrated into the bios and turn on automatically without the need for me to enter the product key. Could you confirm if it will work? I wish I had a little before insurance I pay 20 Toshiba or so much money for the recovery cd.

    Hello

    For your futue reference:

If ever, you have the same problem with another machine preinstalled OEM, product key Finder, BelArc programs, etc. will not find a usable product key that you then use the procedure to reinstall OEM.

They will only find a product key that has been used on several machines during factory production, which is useless for your application.

These programs will work if you have a retail Windows license to find a key, you might have used.

You need the product key from the COA sticker, or the long before recovery partition recovery disks doing the hard drive failed.

And Yes, the manufacturer of recovery disks are designed to reinstall without the need for you to have to enter the product key on the COA sticker.

If you have problems, then it's a matter between yourself and Toshiba as to what the fault is with their recovery media.

    See you soon.

  • Documaker: Unreadable characters with DAL Script

    Hi Experts,

I want to set a field with DAL Script.
But the strings Unicode is unreadable...

String of coded on two bytes will not be recovered with DAL Script?

Because the string is not wrapped when four fields are placed side by side in the table.

I put DAL Script for the concatenation of the value of the four fields and returning a value in a field.

DAL script is correct because the only channels blocked is readable.

    Mask field rule is "8".

    Please help me!

    Thank you very much

There is still no support for Unicode in DAL.

  • Which version of Windows Vista do I have? I can't read the sticker because it is worn out and the hard drive is dead.

What version of vista OS x 14-39682

I can read 25 characters of Vista on the coa sticker numbers, but the name of the version of windows has dissipated. The hard drive is unreadable and dead. I have another hard drive and the number, but I don't know which version of Windows Installer. The number, I can read is 00148-128-072-097 and the other is x 14-39682.

The 14-39682 X is the part number of your copy of Windows Vista and it is Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 OEM.

  • How can I get a Vista product key

    Hello

My laptop compaq with disk hard vista is dead during the holiday season. I could buy a disc of recovery from the supplier, but when I went to enter numbers of validation on my laptop, I found the 3rd sequence of the number worn and unreadable. Anyway for me to * sigh * buy a product code. I'm tired of trying to guess what unreadable characters are... I want to just my laptop to work again.

    Thanks in advance

    Walter

Thanks for the reply. While I don't agree with "planned obsolescence" of a product (nor the design of the approved certificate), I can understand the reasoning. My laptop came with a premium version of vista (an exclusive retailer at the time), I had to enter the passcode (he asked for it). I'm just a little upset because of my situation. You know a way to use the software finder key on an external hard drive? I still have my only crushed (and his readable thank God) so that I can recover some of my files. I won't be "forced" to buy a new operating system when I match my needs.

    Thanks again

There are external ways to find the product key installed - but chances are that the key on the previous installation is simply the manufacturer OEM_SLP key - which is what you would get installed by the recovery disks. The only reason why it would be different if you had reinstalled using an ordinary drive in Vista, either had some activation issues with the system installed at a given moment.

  • Get the massive reading of Balance OHAUS

    Hi all

Using the serial port on the back of a balance OHAUS Ranger, I managed to connect to my PC via the USB connection in series.  Through Hyperterminal, I was able to get a reading of the mass, as shown in the balance on my computer screen.  However, the problem came when I tried to implement a mass reading in LabVIEW (8.6).  Attached is a picture of what looks like my code... It is very short, because it's just a test program.

Although I get something on the buffer, it seems it's just unreadable characters refreshing with my set the timer.  I put baud rate, parity, and stop about how it is put on the balance.  Could someone throw me some tips?  I'm pretty new to LabVIEW, so chances are, I'm certainly something to spoil!

  • Any use of ASCII in the documents?

I'm not successful when you use the {num lk} {alt} + keyboard code ascii to ascii characters in Vista Ultimate on a Dell latitude D520. Cut and paste with character map is too laborious for the amount that I use this stuff. Anyone out there with any experience?

    Hello David Pettit,.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

I understand your point of view with the tedious cut and paste If you use a large number of ascii codes.  From the point of view of Microsoft they offer the table of characters.  I would go online and research of third party software deal with exactly what you are trying to run.

What kind of documents you work specifically?  If you use Microsoft Office applications, I would say go to the link below and submit this question as well as research FAQ.  Good luck and thanks!

  • Printer does not print with new cartridges

After I changed the cartfidges the printer does not print anything. No black and no color. Out of curiosity, I noticed that the old cartridges were still half full because I compared the weight. So I put the inside once again but not print. Only a few pale almost unreadable characters. This happens usually when the printer is dirty then I ask for a cleaning. But I'm still without printer.

My printer is a HP 980CXi and I have now, I was very satisfied. I've heard that some printers are programmed to be used a period determined, while they are blocked. If this is the case. Please be so kind to tell me does not search for a solution. Too bad I bought a pair of cartredges for nothing.

    Hello Yaio,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you experience a problem when you attempt to print in black ink and color.

First of all, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a bar/power strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

I also suggest that you take a free cloth and some bottled water and clean the contacts on the ink cartridges as well as contacts in the printer and then dry them off, reinstall the ink and try a test print.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Display Arabic text

I recently upgraded to windows 7 ultimate x 64. I'm trying to run a program that display Arabic text, but it shows the instead of unreadable characters. I downloaded and installed the Arabic language pack, but it does not work?

    Hello

    Is what program this?

Do you know if it supports the English operating system?

You should contact your supplier or the manufacturer of the program and check if this software supports and runs on an operating system with an English Interface. Unicode (Unreadable character) indicates that the software does not support your language.

    See you soon.

  • How to find uploaded images?

I downloaded the images from Google Images and e-mail.  I can open the image in the 'Downloads' file that opens.  I save to a folder in my pictures folder.  Then, later, when I go to this folder or the downloads folder, it is either not there or when I click on it, a small window opens with unreadable characters in it.  When I do a search for the photo, I find and save it again.  I'm confused as to where a downloaded image must be saved so that I can easily find it.

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community. If I understand correctly, you are facing problems with the downloaded image files. I understand that it must be frustrating, but don't worry, we are here to help solve the problem and guide you in the right direction.

1 have had any changes made on the computer before the show?

    2. the problem occurs for any file in particular?

You can download all the files to the location of your choice.

First of all, I suggest you follow these steps to verify the location of the saved file:

    a. find the file using Windows Explorer library.

    b. right-click on the file and click Open file location.

By doing this, you will be able to find the location of the file and the folder.

If the problem persists, try running Microsoft Safety Scanner for any malware or spyware infection and check if it helps.

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

If the problem is not resolved, please answer and we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  • don't stop printing"

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8100 who can't stop printing.  I tried turning off and on again, pushing cancel etc. When I turn back continues to print unreadable characters and continues to do so until all the paper disappeared.  There is nothing in the Quebec showing that something is in print.  The only way I can get it to stop is to turn it off, but once I turn it on it starts again.  I am able to print a test page.  Any ideas?  I think he's possessed.

    Benish,

It might be the spoolsv service who is possessed.

Control Panel > set view icon > administration tools > Resource Monitor

Under the CPU, click the blue box of 'Image' to sort this column >

Scroll down and look for spoolsv.exe

Check the load of the processor for the spoolsv.exe process.

If the resource loading is high (or even if it's not), you can try restarting the spoolsv service.

One method to restart the spooler:

Control Panel > display icon > Administrative Tools > Services >

Click on "name" to sort this column >

Scroll down and look for print spooler > Select Print Spooler >

    Click on Restart service

    =========================================================================================

At the very least, this should stop the runaway printing temporarily.

Then go and check your wireless configuration between the router, printer, and computer and make sure that everything is as you expect.

You could try to reinstall the software of full functionality for the printer.

I hope this helps to solve at least part of the problem.
