unusual internet connections of svchost.exe

When I boot into windows 7 I noticed svchost.exe making multiple connections to the internet

c:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
UDP on 65.55.158.118:3544
UDP on 8.8.8.8:53
TCP on 64.4.18.90:80

one of the connections that I know is my dns server
the other 2 I'm not sure, seems to be a microsoft ip and the other is a hotmail IP
is this normal for svchost to connect to these ips?

I thought it might have to do with updates of microsoft, but I turned it off, never looking for updates, but it still connects to these IP addresses.

can't figure out what it could be, I ran all the usual anti-virus scans: malwarebytes, asquare free, avira 10, dr web cureit and hitman pro, all came clean

Hi AviraHelp,

Svchost.exe is a process name generic host for services that run from dynamic link (dll) libraries. The Svchost.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the registry services part in order to build a list of services that it needs to load. Multiple instances of Svchost.exe can run at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services. Therefore, separate services can run, depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This grouping of services enabling better control and easier debugging.

Svchost.exe groups are identified in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Svchost

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 on decent office equipment.  Intel i7 - 2600 k, 16 GB of memory Corsair, 2 TB HD.  Recently, I noticed that sometimes the Web pages would much to slow while my 5.0 GHz network turned to 15.0 Mbs.  Also online MechWarrior gave me games much more than before lag to the point where I wouldn't be able to play.  This began about five to seven days from 29/09/14 and was regularly do worse.

So I took a look at my resource monitor and the Task Manager and discovered fifteen process svchost.exe running and a svchost.exe * 32 running.  They were dispersed users (System, Local Service, Network Service), and we were shooting at 150 000 + K.  Sometimes there would be two consuming the same amount of memory, but I have yet to see more on the list do so.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I take care of my computer.  My network is password protected, I ran a complete virus scan of the system that was detected (and if it is dangerous, I'm not at all more risky than Facebook sites on my PC.  I am saying that it is highly unlikely that I have no virus.)  I also checked the forums for others who have had the same problem and there were few.

The only change I made is my network hardware, upgrade my modem and router/switch.  My router is a dual band and my computer is the only one on the frequency 5.0 but check on my computers to families that run on the 2.4, they have what seems like unusually high memory usage svchost.exe as well.  I went back two restore points, but that made no difference.

Syschk control function run as administrator has not resolved the issue as well.  So what else am I missing?

  • Svchost.exe is attempting to establish a connection

Hello.  Svchost.exe is trying to establish a connection with the IP 46.249.42.193 which is a location of a server in the Netherlands but no name given.  How can I stop my computer trying to connect with an unknown location for unknown reasons.  What happens after Essentials and the two other Microsoft anti-virus and Trojan found anything on my computer.   Just for more security, I downloaded Malwarebytes and made additional analysis.  He picked up a Trojan horse and cleaned.  I also added this ip location to the dangerous address list of Explorer.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Can anyone make sense of this. I checked my firewall, proxy, etc, and it continues to be. I would like to know can I get y Del Support Center (aka My Dell) on my computer Announces work.

Oh, by the way, I completely deleted all stray traces in the folder program files and my registry of any old My Dell on my computer, it has however appupdater in my startup probably comes with I tried to install with-aulauncher, but which does nothing (because it does not recognize my internet connection I have).

Someone was able to solve this problem, or they can without having to reinstall the computer system that is not necessary, you might think.

    THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM:

I had the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 1526-Win Vista (32-bit). Aulauncher was not recognize my internet connection already running. He also got less resolved on June 15, 2014:

    (1) download & last saved "aulauncher.exe". He ran & received message 'Internet necessary connectione..'.

    (2) Went to Dell support & clicked on "find my service tag. The program downloaded and ran, and seems to do nothing.

    (3) now, I ran "aulauncher.exe" and it worked fine. After downloading, it ran the file and installed the software.

I just started "My Dell" and it verifies my computer.

[In fact it began to download a "dsc... exe" file (49-50 MB).] I have 3G connection was very slow & I got several error messages connection. I gave 'Retry' and the installer of the picked up Dell download directly from where he had been inturrupted. Thanks to the installer of Dell, so I had to not download the entire file each time.]

I am running WinXP SP3 on a desktop computer that came pre-installed with Norton in 2005 but has fonctionnee McAfee for at least 3 years now. The firewall is through McAfee.

Assuming that the computer is not infected, the following should solve your problem from Windows Update:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. double-click on the file that you saved in # 1 a above, to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. now make this triple McAfee fix & restart: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

NB: You have already downloaded step 2 remove the fix tool in my # 1 step b above.

  • Svchost.exe consumes 90-100% cpu memory

When I start my computer there are 5-6 processes svchost.exe and none of them use 90% above the memory of the cpu. There is that one, IE, idle system process that uses more than 90% cpu. But when I turn off my net by right clicking on the icon in the status bar notification area and select Disable, after a while, one of the svchost.exe process begins to consume more than 90% cpu. Also its members use is superior to 40 000 K and my computer responds very slowly.

Also as soon as I finish this process my computer responds normally.
Also when I shut down my computer shows blue scree an additional message «closing network connections...» ', this isn't usually comes.
    Please help me...
    Thank you

Are you now a statement is not a problem.

    1. the amount of memory in the "working set" of a process (10 000 K = 10 MB) should not be a problem for most systems.  Even an old computer running XP probably has at least 512 MB of RAM installed.

2 PIDs are specific to your system.  Reports that a process has 912 PID doesn't mean anything to anyone else.  The svchost.exe instance you mention hosts most of all instances of svchost services into a Windows XP system (this is the "netsvcs" of services group), is not at all surprising that he needs more memory.

Buried in this long list of services is wuauserv, which is the Windows Update automatic update service.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the service that used a lot of cycles CPU when you shut down your Internet connection.

If you 'end process' for this instance of svchost, most of the things that will stop working are related to the network, which may be important to you if you have disconnected your network connection.  Not all, however, are related to the network.  For example, the sound does work more (AudioSrv).

For more information, go here--> http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-xp-x86-32-bit-service-pack-3-service-configurations/ names when you run tasklist/SVC are the "service name" rather than the name, "display" then click on the header in the second column of the table in the Black Viper to sort by service name.  You can click on the "display name" of the any services to learn more on this subject.

It's a non-issue.  Explorer is continually questioning the key in order to maintain the status of the network connection in the up-to-date notification area or warn you if you lose network connectivity.  If you want the query to stop then go into your properties of the network adapter and disable the "Show icon in notification area when connected" and the "notify me when this connection is limited or no conectivity.

  • Win32 exception in svchost.exe, many other problems that occur

INFO: Go to the last page to see my solution (there are two pages!)

I think this happened to me before.  I use the computer, the internet works, there is an audio device, and then 2 debuggers of just-in-time pop up and say that there is a win32 exception in svchost.exe.  Please, don't say this goes into the Visual Studio forums because, even if I uninstall it, another dialog box appears saying there is some kind of error in the application, and when I close it, I can't run programs more.  Sort of, I do not debug themes stopped working, and sign says 'no audio device not installed' even though it says there is one in the Device Manager.  It's happened before, and it separated.  I didn't know why.  I just turned on themes manually, he worked and re-installed my audio device.  Then, I went to microsoft update website to see if it would update, which was probably my problem the last time.  But it did not load the site.  The site, in internet explorer, said quickly "check you have the latest software update, something about activex and then opted for"the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view".»  I was very fast, and I couldn't read by taking a screenshot.  Oh, and it was http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us.  The options on the side are grayed out; I could not verify anything.  When you try to access this page in firefox, it says that the connection has been reset.  I can't update.  But that's not all.  When opening internet Explorer, there are 2 process iexplorer.exe.  In a path of the process Viewer, he confirmed that both come from the windows folder.  One is bigger.  Kill any process would result in the closure of internet explore.  That is to say, I'm not familiar with so I do not know if it is supposed to have 2 processes.  At one point, there was an Explorer.EXE and an explorer.exe.  I have done both and when you have nothing, that it was a virus.  I couldn't find the file and so it's probably still here.  Yet once, there are even more.  The Windows Firewall/internet sharing ect. process cannot start.  When you try to start it I get error 5: access is denied.  It isn't my printer, because my computer is not connected to one and the page of my computer not long to load.  I have XP home SP3.  In addition, when you try to start a java game, I get the message "the virtual machine cannot be started.  I have reinstalled java without result.  I have MSE.  I see no virus in my departure upward.  The win32 exception appears more than once, resulting in the themes service crashing.  This seems to be a virus.  There are several explorer.exe, but not Explorer.EXE.  In internet explorer, when I google something and click on a link, it is redirected instantly.  But not in firefox.  Thank you, if someone can find the solution.  I will try antivirus and restores system analyses.  Unless those who were corrupt, too.

MSE update!  Microsoft Update worked, too.  I downloaded TDSSKiller on my office and renamed it in randomname.com.  He ran clean when I did not.  I used the command prompt to change the extension of the files exe to com, but you can enable extensions file via file operations in Explorer. Then I ran it and it found one thing trojan backdoor that other programs could not remove.  Deleted, updated, and now everything is fine (sort of).  There is a beep randomly when starting upwards, but I use inconvenience.  Is everybody stumped, or something?  Someone can it mark as answer?

  • Svchost.exe running 93-99% of my cpu

I have a problem with the svchost. Whenever I have to connect to internet the svchost.exe always exhausted my CPU at 100% and causing slowness on my laptop.
    How to solve this problem?

Thank you all for breakfast and information.

Have tried all the methods above, but the problem remains.
Sure some kind of virus, spyware, adware or Trojan programs can hide behind the svchost.exe process.

In the end, have to re - format the hard drive and the problem resolved.

  • Svchost.exe constantly downloading stuff devours my limited bandwidth

Hello everyone, I am running Windows 7 and recently I had this problem with svchost.exe and hope someone here could help me fix. The problem is that my computer out of no where just begins downloading stuff (I don't know what it is download), I have a band bandwidth monitor (BitMeter) and have noticed these constant downloads. So I started researching on the internet and a small program called TCPView and found out that the downloads are caused by a program (I don't know which) using svchost.exe. TCPView I am able to put an end to the process, that said using the Task Manager these processes are not visible or accessible so my only chance to stop him is to use another TCP or process viewer. Also when I stop it is only temporary as it starts again after a few minutes.

I run the command (tasklist/SVC /fi "imagename eq svchost.exe") and found some inconsistency with the download market and without (after that I stopped it) and found it market/download Appinfo, BITS and Wuauserv serve I don't know what program uses this service, hope that helps. I can't afford to work because I have a little bit of bandwidth, I tried a few things like HiJackThis, Windows Defender, Avast Anti Virus, Norton Internet Security to name but a few, that I even restored my PC to the way it was when I bought it first, and none of them fixed my problem. Help please

Excuse my English/grammar, I'm a little frustrated now to try to keep this thing remotely, thanks in advance for your help

Its occur mainly because of BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service)

    Stop this service.

Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Search BITS and stop the service by right-clicking on it and then click on stop. Also in the properties of this service select manual or disable.

You can update your windows at any time to activate whnevr u hv a connection inactive.

  • SVCHOST.exe slow down my laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with Windows 7.  I have had it for 7 months and was a good machine.  In the last two days, it worked excrutiatingly slow to perform a simple task.  It takes 30 seconds for the MSN Internet signin window appears and which is the only application I have running.  My Norton program flashes a popup indicating svchost consumes too much memory.  Is there a systematic way of:

1 determine what application is causing trouble

    2. how to solve the problem

My Task Manager shows PID956 PID (92MB) 1004 (24MO) are the 2 process SVCHost.exe uses more memory.  I read several questions on this topic here in the help with some good info section, but none really seem to indicate how close the loop and close the question.

I only am not aware of all of the windows updates were installed recently (I don't know if these run automatic or not and do not know how to check when the last update was missed) and have not recently added from all programs.  The problem just started in the last few days.

    Here, any help is appreciated.

Svchost.exe is an application used by various applications. Usually, the problem isn't with svchost.exe but with the application that is running the service that is using svchost.exe. At any time, you can have a number any process ongoing svchost.exe to run and you have to identify who it is that is causing the problem. The process PID number is no help as it changes from one computer to another and each time that you start the computer. The constants are the command line and there are about 10 commonly used. You can't see them using the Task Manager. You need Process Explorer (freeware from Microsoft).

You will see what copy of svchost.exe is more active, and if you right click on the process, you will see a list of services that use this particular process. Svchost.exe - k netsvc is an example of a command line. Uses a number of services and often causing the problems of this group is wuaserv, which relates to Windows Update. Once you have identified the service that you have to identify the application using the service. In the example I gave, it's pretty obvious, but others are not so easy to determine.

A complication is caused by malicious software which can also use svchost.exe. You should use anti-virus software for deterrmine if you have a defective or software program malware.

It is always sensible in this situation to achieve a malware check

Start the computer in safe mode with network and download and install Malwarebytes (free version for individuals only), updated definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software while you do the analyses.

Download and run SuperAntiSpyware (Free Edition)

Some malware is installing the entries of proxy server redirecting internet connections. If you encounter this problem step 2 see in the following link:

    Hello

1 did you change on your computer?

2 what other USB devices are detected on the computer?

Try connecting to another USB port and verify.

Connect the card to internet data to another computer and check if works

I suggest to download and install the Microsoft safety scanner and run the scan and check.
