Unwanted GarageBand voices

OS X 10.9.5, 2.4 GHz, 6 GB MacBook Pro

GarageBand 11 version 6.0.5 Blue Snowball Mic

I have been using Garageband for about 2 years for recording live hypnosis sessions with my clients.

I have everything first to import a piece of background music (such as AAC) and lock the track to keep it stable.

I use NO effects.

Audio resolution set to good.

Then I record my voice that I hypnotize the customer, with the track of music played, and my client and I listen with headphones Sennheiser.

Here's the problem:

Sometimes (about 1 in every 6 records) my voice gets distorted halfway through - sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 10 or 15 minutes in.

Looks like I'm speaking and drunk and at variable speeds.

I have to give up recording and start over.

I've done everything I can do do not overload the hard drive: lock the path, use AAC import no mp3, no sound effects. But I don't think it's the hard drive because the queue does not change color (remains white)

Could it be a loose USB on the MIC?

Should I upgrade Garageband? (fear of where it makes it worse)

Should I give up and try Audacity? (Amin!) Get a new Mac? Become a plumber?

At the end of my home - any help appreciated.

Hi HypnoJay,

Please visit Apple support communities.

I see that you encounter a slight audio distortion in your voice recording in GarageBand. There are several steps that I would recommend to isolate the cause of the problem.

First of all, you're working with an existing project that is a model? If so, try to save with a new project in GarageBand.

Then unplug the USB microphone and testing the recording using the microphone on your MacBook Pro.

In addition, if the problem appears when you do these tests, you can try it out in a new user account by using the procedure in How to test a question in another account on your Mac user.

Sincerely.

  • How to activate Noise Gates in GarageBand?

I use GarageBand 10.1.0.  I want to use a Noise Gate, but the option is grayed out and is not clickable. See picture attached.  I guess I have to load a plugin to enable this feature.  Can anyone advise how to do this in the latest version of Garageband?  FYI, I found instructions for older versions of GarageBand which concern 'by clicking on a location empty', but I do not know how to translate these instructions for the new screens in the latest version of GarageBand.

    Appreciate the help...

Noise gate will be automatically activated, if some effects have been applied to a track.

She works for instruments that use effects such as the simulation of distortion, overdrive and amp.  See:

Prevent noise effects in GarageBand - Apple Support

Disturbed by the noise in quiet passages of your recordings of real instruments? No problem - meet suppressor of GarageBand.

Overdrive amp and effects like distortion simulators involve the amplification of the input signal of the real Instrument. This amplification can also push otherwise imperceptible noise instrument and the background. The noise gate can prevent these unwanted sounds at low altitude in the effects

To reduce noise in a silent passage:

    1. Select the desired range.
    2. Click the icon of headphones for the solo track.
    3. Open the track info window.
    4. Expand the window you will see "details".
    5. Click the box of the grid.
    6. Start playing the song.
    7. Adjust the slider of the door so that the noise disappears from silent passages, but the instrument is not still normally elsewhere.

I can not give all tracks voice, but for most pieces of guitar and bass tracks is already active, as soon as I create the track.

  • Note looping in GarageBand

In GarageBand, I did a recording of me just sing a long note and want to loop an entire song so the note sounds even longer.  But when I do that, whenever the loop again it makes a little noise, hard to explain, but even if I cut the beginning and the end of the recording, he does always a little sound whenever he performs a loop itself and I don't know what to do. Y at - it a setting I can change to stop? I want it to look like a long drone.

To what you want to achieve, you must to crossfade regions to create transitions smoothly between them. Unfortunately, GarageBand doesn't have the ability to fade or crossafe Audio regions (Logic Pro X). However, all is not lost, there is a solution, you can do the same thing with automation.

Look at the screenshot to understand the procedure.

    • Create two Audio tracks
    • The first Audio track has the area of your voice recording audio
    • Apply the Volume Automation to increase the level at the beginning of the region and lower end of the region.
    • Now copy (Option-do drag) this region in the second piece so the end of the first area overlaps the beginning of this region. Automation is copied with the region.
    • Now select the region on the first track and the area (you just copied) on the second track and the Option-do drag to the right to copy both of them, yet once for the region of second and third overlap.
    • Keep this copy procedure as long as you need it to be.

As you can see, when a region Faints, the other region on the road to spare fades, create a crossfade without welding.

You play a little to find the right length for automation to come in and out and also how to straddle the regions.

I explain details of the automation and the rest of my book of GarageBand. ""X GarageBand - how it works".

    A tip:

Instead of having a linear Automation curve between two Automation Control Points (the points), you can create logarithmic shapes by Ctrl + Shift + drag the line between two Control Points. Drag left/right for s-shape or high-low exponential curves. It will look something like this (sh + ctr + click on the line to linear curve).

    Hope that helps

  • How to export QuickTime without the narrative voice?

Hello.. I created a Keynote slideshow.

I created the "audio" for presentation using Garageband.

Then, I dropped the audio in my opening remarks.

Then I saved the slideshow to slides of my audio file of the time.

Now... when I try to export to Quicktime, it includes both my audio file as well as the "narrative voice", which was included when I recorded.

(Basically, it's my microphone pick up the audio of the presentation one I recorded it so it's like an echo and sounds terrible.)

I looked in the forum and in 2009, someone asked a similar question. The response was:

Remove the audio narration during the export to quicktime.

However, it seems not have this option in the latest version of Keynote.

Nobody knows the answer to that?

Let me know if you need a capture of screen or screencast for more precision.

    Thank you.

It's my microphone pick up the audio of the presentation one I recorded it so it's like an echo and sounds terrible.)

Stop recording the output of the speakers by either listening to the sound of the presentation of helmet, or put mute the speakers on the Mac using one of the following options:

    • Press mute on the keyboard
    • System preferences > Audio > output: then select the Mute check box

Remove the audio narration during the export to quicktime.

If you need voice over then you must keep in the presentation (why register for throw?)

However, it seems not have this option in the latest version of Keynote.

You can delete the recorded voice by clicking the clear button in: Inspector > Document > Audio

However this also remove orders to advance to the next generation and presentation slides

  • GarageBand clips on a track torn gold trimmed to 2 seconds

    HELLO community,

I'm having a right old panic!

I do recent changes in Garageband 10.0.3 for my Radio podcast on the current line. I'm on Macbook pro late 2011, using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Out of nowhere the clips on the track of voice main host, have been deleted or cut it all off at the end of the same length (approx. 2 seconds).

Supported on record before I realized it, I know there is little I can do to go back to the previous version, but I fear of re - save all in the same way until I understand what happened. Is this some kind of accident? If this amount of work can be lost should I completely avoid Garageband?

    Thanks for your help

Audit of records audio originals are still there.

Select the project GarageBand in the Finder, then ctrl-click and use the command 'Show Package Contents '.

In the window that opens, select the "Media" folder, then the audio subfolder.  Your original recordings still are there, unchanged?

Copy them to the folder, and then add them again to a new track.

I'm not sure, which could change the audio clips, but GarageBand generally will keep the unchanged original audio clips, even when you change the regions.

If you've really removed a region, the clip may have been removed from your project when you saved it.

Its most likely the specific web pages you visit. Those who happen to you on?

Some news sites or sites of gossip will have added video that will play automatically when a page is visited.

  • do not record voices

I can record voice via the built-in microphone, but not through my Scarlette 2i4 with a condenser MXL 3000 mic. I use this configuration on a regular basis for a few years and recorded several songs recently and everything was fine. Then the other day it didn't work anymore.

I have preferences inside the Gargeband on Scarlett for entry and exit

I have a lead of real instruments with active record

Phantom power of Scarlett's gain is in place and I can see this mic signal to the Scarlett

I hear the MXL 3000 in my headphones are plugged the Scarlett.

I tried a different microphone, no change.

I tried to stop everything, re-corner connections, don't reboot, no change.

I tried the channels 1 and 2 on the Scarlett, no change.

I tried several song files and new empty files.

Note: There is no drivers for the Scarlett - it runs in compatible mode on Mac

I'm puzzled. Any ideas? Thank you very much, really frustrated and can not save!

Have you checked the settings of the Audio configuration utility and Midi?  Sometimes, the format is set to a frequency cap is not taken care of in GarageBand - there should be 44100 Hz. And check the volume sliders.

  • How can I hear different parts of a room at the same time, I record part in Garageband?

I'm trying to set up some choral titles and this would be very useful. I read something about surveillance, but I don't know what exactly it does or is used for.

    Monitoring

I hope I understood your question (?) And I think that I would be right when you say that in GarageBand, you can provide several voice tracks. Adding a new track for each voice 'harmony', you could perfect each track to your heart's content.

Surveillance is another word for 'playback', and you could listen to each piece individually or simultaneously through your headphones or auxiliary speakers (monitoring). This "muting" tracks that you don't want to hear.

I've been using the Focusrite interface: integrated unit iTrack Solo , which includes a 'surveillance'. See this link:

    http://us.Focusrite.com/answerbase/using-the-iTrack-solo-with-GarageBand

But you won't have the iTrack Solo unit. If this is the case, you need GarageBand gurus to make suggestions.

    Have fun

  • Alterations of the voice with hearing

    Hey guys,.

This is my first post in the field of the hearing of the proceeding.

I come from a background of Garageband (mainly 6, not crappy new version).

Keeping in mind, I have no doubt of things to learn, what is this software to imitate the voice?

If not, is there a plugin?

Reason being, I created a parody of the song to a Kendrick Lamar song as a Christmas gift. Outside of the practice of the survey as him, are there resources that you would recommend?

I'm sorry if this is too vague or boring a question.

    Thank you!

[Updated title to aid clarity. - Mod.]

Well, it's not automatic "make me look like someone else" option, otherwise I could have a great career as a singer!

Seriously, your best bet is to try to imitate the style you want - sentence, pronunciation, etc... as much as you can.  You can use tools such as Pitch changer effects per hour and height to modify your voice in the same vocal range than the person you're imitating.  Also, a creative use of the EQ can make you sound quite different.  Finally, listen to the record that you try to imitate and copy things like the amount of reverb used, compression, etc.

  • Always unwanted clicking sound on both ends of a clip

When I put voice segments together in the multitrack session I get this annoying "click on" sound, or a glitch, at the beginning of each clip. It ruins everything naturally and makes my unnecessary records. They are not on the record, but do occur when I set up the Audition segments. Seems to me that the hearing cannot handle the process of putting clips together? Whenever the bar reached the beginning of the next clip that annoying sound comes in. It's like an electrical impulse or something, difficult to describe. I did a test with no noise in the clips, just add them, the sound of glitch was not there then. When I mark a section in a clip and add silence and operate the read head just inside that segment the sound is in the beginning and the end as well. As if the software is actually produce these signals. When I edit each clip solitaire I try to add a segment to the silence of death in the beginning and the end, when to re-enter the multitrack session again to play what seems to have removed most of the unwanted clicks but then the mixture is more loose with the longer time between clips, and not the way I wanted it to be. I do the voice at work, this problem only on the voice recording. The record microphone went very well, sound when I start putting clips and sections together in multitrack mode starting with these problems occur.

I have heard others complain about the same thing here and there. A bug?

    perrybrus wrote:

My God, no. Fair waveforms not mating at intersections and jumping rather abruptly from one level to another. If you place in multitrack clips, then put it while they auto-crossfade when set on the same track - all you have to do is drag one over the other for a few milliseconds stop what is happening. It is the way to get silent changes. If you go into Preferences > multitrack clips, you will find the available options.
