Update disk on Tecra 8200

Hello

I own a Tecra 8200 with the latest version of the bios 1.6. I want to spend my 10 GB hard drive to a bigger! I searched the whole forum and google to find some information about the maximum size for this laptop, but there is different information. Sometimes the answer is 30 GB max and the other user has 60 GB hard drive installed. I hope someone can help me and give me some information on what hard drive I can buy a use in my tecra 8200! So thanks a lot this time.

Welcome them

Reinhard

Unfortunately, I can just confirm that there is no public document on the possibilities of upgrade. I know with certainty that some laptop computers Tecra 8200 (probablu models) are delivered with discs hard 30 GB. because of that I'm sure you can use the 30 GB HARD drive with no problems.

If you want more that I recommend to buy compatible HDD 60 and try to use it. If something is wrong you can at any time send HDD to your local dealer. Probably you have 14 days to send the product back if not satisfied.

    You can use any SATA 2.5 HARD disk since the SATA controller is not limited to a specific size of the drive HARD 250 GB or 500 GB even shouldn't be a big problem

    Hello

    Your Tecra has SATA HDD connector, so it shouldn't be a problem to use the HARD drive with a higher capacity.
    I put t know which one you want to use, but HARD drive, between 200 and 300 GB should be good enough for upgrade.

    James is quite right. To use this device there is only an update of the traditional BIOS available. If you want you can consult the FAQ update of the BIOS page. You can find it under http://www.toshiba-tro.de/gcc/biosinfo/index.html

  • Can I update my BIOS using a stick USB Mem on Tecra 8200

    I want to update BIOS for the last level v1.6.
    I don't have a floppy drive selectabay, just a DVD player.
    Now, it would take 3 DVD to do this I assume IE duty in the order of the day for more BIOS later.,.
    v1.4 then 1.5V and finally v1.6.

    Is the Board of Directors supported the start-up of a stick USB Mem, or a USB FDD.
    Any thoughts on the best way to do it.

    Is there a utility I could download and do it from windows...

    My system is a 820E. Tecra 8200 series.

    Thank you.

    I doubt that you can not do this.

    Toshiba page offers a trad BIOS update that can be updated by using only the FDD drive.

  • Tecra 8200 Boot and install os!

    I have a tecra 8200, cd player no longer works, so I bought a new... The floppy driver has also been broken, but I just bought a new floppy driver external usb. Everything works fine on windows, but I want to reinstall my OS, but I can't boot from the external floppy drive or a cd player... How can I solve this problem? I edited my bios to boot from the floppy drive, cdrom and HDD, but it does not start, the cd is bootable etc... How can I solve this?

    Hey,.

    When you have changed the former in an ew reader, what was the same model or a better? As SD-R2002 or
    DVD PA3014E-1DVD player Kit
    PA3015U-1CDD 24 x CD-ROM Drive Kit II
    PA3068U - 1 CD 1 CD-R/RW Drive Kit
    PA3073E - 1 CD 2 CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive Kit

    These disk are supported by the Tecra 8200 series. Another Selcet Bay drive can also adapt!

    It can also help to do a BIOS update unless the old one was not installed!

  • Upgrade HDD in Tecra 8200 problem

    I am trying to upgrade the hard drive in my Tecra 8200 10 GB to 30 GB. I have adapters to connect both drives old and new laptop on my desk, then used cloning software to copy content from the old disk to the new, leaving the data on the old. The old and the new disks are formatted in FAT32. When I put the new drive in the laptop, it is not recognized. The configuration of the BIOS screen says 'no drive '.

    I tried 2 different programs of cloning and tried the new disk using a USB external box connected to the laptop, with the original drive mounted in the laptop cloning. Still not good. I went through the whole thing with a 20 GB drive that I use in the external case, and it is not to be recognized. The 30 GB and 20 GB are recognized and can be read by, by 2 different computer, so I am prety sure that disks are OK. The 8200 BIOS does not recognize them and it doesn't seem to be a way to force the BIOS to detect the drives.

    I thought that the 8200 would support larger disks, but this isn't looking too good. I hope it's something obvious that I forgot.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Hello

    As I know your Tecra should be able to recognize the 30 GB HARD drive. Maybe update the BIOS may solve the problem. Please on Toshiba download page has the latest BIOS update available.

  • Tecra 8200: After SP2 computer laptop installation keeps rebooting

    Hello.

    I am running Windows XP Pro in my Tecra 8200 and decided to install SP2 (oh error) now, whenever I turn it on I go as far as a blue screen with the following message
    STOP: c0000135 {Unable to locate component}
    This application has failed to start because winsrv was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

    After my laptop keeps restarting - boots - blue screen again. I have tried everything to connect to windows to uninstall SP2, but I can not connect.
    I tried to change the boot sequence (some ppl said that it was starting in LAN), I disabled the CPU Cache and L2 in the BIOS and still nothing. If I turn off reset on the failure of the system (as some other guy suggested) I just can't not anywhere either.

    Unfortunately, I do not have the boot floppies so I can not format the laptop.

    Now I know why that is happening, but the answers I get is to uninstall SP2, update the Bios, or to download patches, but I can't make one any of them because I can't get into windows, even in safe mode.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Hi Hector.

    If you cannot start in safe mode, and then unfortunately mode your only real option is to reinstall your operating system to the original recovery disks.

    I think something went wrong during the installation of SP2 and this has led to the corruption of one or more of your system files.

    I also recommend that you take a full backup of your system before attempting to do a re-installation of SP2 so that you do not have to depend on start-up in Windows to regulate if necessary.

    Personally I take a picture full backup to an external hard drive using Norton Ghost before applying any big maintenance work on my own laptop.

  • Tecra 8200 identity?

    I want to update this NB as I barely had second hand. Info on the label does not seem to match what Tosh. ask me. Model number: PT8200E-05WQP-GR. P3 750 Mhz. I don't know whether it is an A2 A3 A8 etc etc. TA.

    Why don't you find your machine it's because you´re looking in the wrong section.
    Your machine is a little older and doesn´t belongs to the new generation of computers laptop toshiba. To find the drivers and BIOS update, you can choose archives in the driver download section.

    Here´s some brief description to find your machine in the drivers section:

    Go to the drivers download section and choose:
    "Product type"-> Archives
    'The family'-> Tecra-Archive
    'Series of products'-> Tecra 8xxx
    'Model'-> Tecra 8200
    'Short model number'-> PT820E

    Then choose the operating system where you need drivers. The update of the BIOS is included in the list of drivers.

  • Tecra 8200 upgrade?

    Hi it :-)

    I just bought used Tecra 8200 PIII850MHz 20 GB HARD drive, 256 MB of RAM and AI have a question - in theory, if I flashed the latest BIOS, what is the frequency of maximum CPU which can insertend in the laptop (PIII 1 will, work with it, or maybe just 1 GHz 2 GHz?)? What about HDD - will it work with 40 GB (or more) Toshiba HDD? The specs found on the Web from Toshiba site say about 30GB HDD, but I hope that they are a bit outdated ;-)

    Greetings to all
    Michael Kornacki

    Hi MicKor,

    the maximum frequency of the processor is 1.0 Ghz
    and the maximum of 30 GB HARD disk memory

  • Tecra 8200 - works very well under Windows 98SE, but not on Windows 2000

    Hello

    I've updated my Tecra 8200 for Windows 98SE and Windows 2000.
    Windows 98SE, wireless connection works very well and I was able to access the internet through my SMC Barricade router.
    But on Windows 2000, this no longer works.
    The connection to the router is ok, but I am unable to connect to the internet or to the page web administration of the router.
    The Toshiba Wireless Client Manager provides the following information:
    Status:
    ------
    Connected to the network: SMC
    Connection: Excellent
    Access Point name:
    Channels: 2
    Encryption: on

    ----------- Warning ----------------
    Impossible to communicate with the AP.
    Please check the encryption and IRQ.

    Yet once, I insist on the fact that under Windows 98SE, everything worked well... an hour ago...

    I am running Windows 2000 SP4 with the latest updates.
    Could someone help?

    Thank you

    François

    Hello

  • Installing OS on Tecra 8200

    Hello world

    I really appreciate the help with installing OS on HD on Tecra 8200. The original HD crashed so I bought replacement HD to an add-in in the local newspaper. This disk should be formatted but otherwise empty. After I drag the drive into the Bay and put the power, "GRUB loading stage 1.5" appears on the screen and then any time the word "UBUNTU" and then a long message beginning with: "cannot start X server...". "etc. (probably something to do with Unix).

    My Tecra has no floppy drive, just DVD player and I can't find a way to make the machine begins to read the Windows 2000 installation CD in the DVD player (or perhaps the HD should be reformatted first but where to start?).

    Thanks a lot for any help or suggestion.

    Hello Dario

    Well, first of all, you must check the BIOS settings. As far as I know the configuration of the device must be set to the OS installer.
    Then it s advisable to reinstall the operating system. In this case, you must use the CD recovery or the original version of Microsoft Windows. All the necessary drivers, which you can download from the Toshiba site
