  Having the latest drivers would be nice, but its different for laptops. Motorists need to be customized for the features of the laptop, and they probably need to go through quality control, testing too although I guess.

  However there may be a solution, you can try to install the drivers later on newer models such as the Tecra A10 and M10 :)

  I think the problem is that the update of the bios (which is using windows) doesn't work under XP, so won´t you luck because it takes a working XP and common modules installed on your machine.

  Unfortunately there is no other way to update your bios, but in your case it s is NOT necessary update the bios since the new version adds not important functions. So I think that it s not a BIG problem, and if your computer is running well, then ' that one ' and follow the good old "never change a system up and running.

  In my opinion the disk utility HARD does not work on your Tecra A8 because the software was not designed for the A8 but for M9.

  The European driver Toshiba page does not provide the HDD Protection Utility for Vista.
  But I found one for the Tecra A9.

  I don't know but, I am very pessimistic, you have every chance of casting more than 8 GB HDD to your laptop because there are BIOS HARD disk size restrictions! If the latest version of the BIOS does not support the new HDD it appears impossible to run!

One of my clients had a similar problem with a non-toshiba machine and it was a corrupted bios.   I'm trying to update the BIOS on a Tecra A2 and I need help. I downloaded the current version (1.40 - WIN) and then extracting the zip file to copy on a diskette as instructed, the package extracts from 1.84 MB! Obviously this will not keep on a floppy disk, so how can I perform the update?

  According to the installation instructions this model no is not upgraded to Windows - if the version name contains WIN (?)

  I can't say for sure, but I think that you can use hard disks with more capacity and it can go up to 200 GB.

  It is also a kind of encryption provided my MS in Vista and Win 7.
  To my knowledge the bitlocker must be set to suspend mode by updating the BIOS.

  I guess that something similar should be done to PGP.
