Help, please!
I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit on SP2.
I just had my McAfee security expires and since I was not able to install security updates.
I uninstalled McAfee and searched my system to make sure that it is completely gone, then I installed Microsoft Security Essentials.
I was able to update its definitions of once and since I was not able to do so once again - instead, I get the error message "Virus and Spyware definitions update failed" and the code of error 0x80072efe
I have since run a full scan of the system and the following were found on my system:
-Trojan Dropper
-Trojan notifier
-Trojan Downloader
-Virus: Win32/Alureon.H
It is said that they have been removed - I'm not sure if they have something to do with my problems of system...
Also my windows update still does not go to download security updates, and it still gives me the same error code.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thank you very much
Also, the first update failed installed has been updated for Windows Vista (KB955430)
The last successful security update was security update for Windows Vista (KB979309)

I get this KB2481109 update and it still fails to update it's a virus
I get this KB2481109 update and it still fails to update it is a virus and how iI to get rid of this?
Hi Judy,.
1. do you get an error code?
2. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?
Since this is a security update, there is a chance of infection from malicious software on the computer. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.
Method 1:
You can reset Windows Update components and check.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Method 2: Virus Scan

Note: If infections are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.See also:

Hi JevenStulie,
1. are you able to boot into normal mode after receiving these error messages?
You can try these steps and see if it helps.
Step 1:
You can check if the problem occurs in safe mode with network.
Start your computer in safe mode
Startup options (including safe mode)
Step 2:
If you do not experience the problem in safe mode with network, then you can read the following article to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and analysis complete on your computer.
Note: When you perform the analysis, there are chances of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before performing analysis.
Hope this information is useful.

80073AA2 Windows Vista error code update KB973917 and KB970430 Frustration!
I have a problem installing the updates on my 32-bit Windows Vista laptop. I have both updates KB973917 and KB970430 both indicate the error code 80073AA2 and two KB976325 and KB971737 updates showing the error code 800F0826. The laptop has the message that it is install update 3 of 3, is 100% then says that the updates have not been configured correctly - he keeps trying to install updates.
I find it quite frustrating because this is the second time (the last was SP2) this year that updates have not properly configured and as a geek no I'm not able to settle this issue myself! I got a very helpful guys at Microsoft call me before; However, if I can get some advice on how to fix myself I would be very grateful!

Windows update fails and shows code error 80070490
Hello, I have Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit operating system and installed Service Pack 2.
I set Windows to update automatically, but I noticed today that this wasn't working properly, so I clicked on "check for updates" and she came back with the following message:
"Windows could not search for new updates, error found: Code 80070490 Windows update encountered an unknown error.Under the error message, it lists that the ' most recent Check for Updates "was on 11/25/2009 and"updates have been installed"on 11/25/2009.
But when I checked "View update history" to see updates did not, all the updates that are listed have actually managed, no updates have been identified as having failed. The last update was actually - definition update for Windows Defender on 12/29/2009 - and the previous update - update for the Microsoft XML Core Service Pack 2 (KB973688) 25 / 11 / 2009.I had this same problem earlier this year with the code 80070490 error come when I tried to update Windows and after trying all the solutions suggest online (including the assisted Microsoft Online Support), I had to contact the Support of Tecnical Microsoft on the phone and he needed someone to help me create a completely new Windows which meant that I lost everything in my old windows.
I don't want to go through this again, can anyone help?
Ebony
