  Help!

  I use the TrueSuite Access Manager very happy five months for some of my files important protect from prying eyes. Suddenly, today, when I try to "unprotect" them, I get a message saying "Invalid"File Protection Key"". The fingerprint reader works fine and TrueSuite Access Manager accepts my footprint quite happy.

  I am using Windows XP Pro. The only things that have happened since I last accessed files successfully was a download Microsoft Tuesday last week and my Norton Internet Security 2008 installation.

  I really hope you guys can help ' cos I need to access these files.

  Well, here is where I have to this day...

  The TrueSuite Access Manager is provided by AuthenTec, but is actually just a rebadged version of the Password of ABIG software. The site Web of TrueSuite disappeared off the internet (although you can find one or two references to the fact that there were once). AuthenTec or ABIG offer any support whatsoever. So the only source of help is Toshiba...

  I traced the beginning of my woes to an application error logged in the log of the events of Win XP - fingerprint software didn't. The description of the error says only: "prints notifier Application digital Suite has encountered a problem and needs to close." Large. The application error has somehow broken the link between fingerprints recorded and the key used to 'protect' all my files. Even having a back-up fingerprints was useless, because that was the link between the fingerprint identification system and the file system of Windows that was broken, not fingerprint information...

  I rang the Toshiba help line, who recommended to download and install the latest drivers. What I've done. It made no difference.

  I managed to roll back to Windows to a date earlier than the application error (the problem I had before which prevented me to restore the system to an earlier date was caused by Norton internet Security, a "known" feature). But even once it made no difference.

  So where am I today? TrueSuite has lost the connection between my fingerprints and the key that he used with the file system Windows to protect my files, I was in turn locked out of all files. I can't access, copy, move them or delete them, BACK or Win XP. Toshiba recommendation is to use the provided with the laptop recovery disks and to reinstall Windows XP from scratch. Of course this will not return me my information, but at least it will remove all unnecessary files and free up the space occupied by them!

  Lessons to be learned - if you use TrueSuite to protect your files, think twice. If you want to continue to do so, back up all your files before protecting them. Of course, the backup version of the file will not be protected fingerprint (bat rather the object of the exercise, is not...)

  For example, I can change the "Font of the Document" folder to export as a "document-fonts"?

  I ask because our naming structure requires without capital letters and no spaces. Spaces are replaced by dashes (-).

  And it would be nice if it was always exported as needed, instead of having to go back and change the names of files.

  Which cannot be changed without having a bad effect,. The name "Document fonts" is special. When you compress a file with fonts in a folder using exactly this name, InDesign know that these policies should be open and will be used in the document to the other end. If you name this file anything else, InDesign ignore fonts and the recipient will have to open the fonts manually.

  If you have decided to change the folder names, you will need to do once the package created, perhaps with a script.

• Locks of InDesign files

  I have several editors working on my InDesign files in InCopy. Some of them may open the file ID to edit mode of provision without blocking my use ID file in InDesign, and some of them cannot enter if I have the file open and lock the file when they open it. I can't understand what is causing the difference. Is this how I export stories?  I love it when we can be in the file at the same time, so I prefer to go on the road that can change this behavior. I know that I can export assignments and publishers can open those instead of the file ID and depending on the workflow, I use assignments, but more specifically, I'm trying to understand why a user IC sometimes causes a lock on a file ID and sometimes they are not.  Any ideas?

  What version of ID? IC? Mac? Victory? Everyone is fully patched?

• Windows 7 has become my comments login and I'm locked out of admin

  I've been running W7 Pro 64 bit very happy for two months. When I installed, I made a user account for me with admin privileges (I'm the only user on this machine). All of a sudden yesterday I noticed that I could not do some things and on investigation found that W7 has become my admin account a guest one. Same account name, icon, the user files, but no right! I did nothing to cause it, as far as I know, it just happened. I don't think it's a virus, Kaspersky certainly is not report anything.

  
  

  I tried to boot from the DVD and by defining the built in Administrator account, but that the command window told me that the command executed successfully, when I restart I see no administrator account. Because I'm the only user I had previously defined netplwiz to connect automatically and I can't disarm that - I just get a window saying 'entry password administrator to run netplwiz' but there is no password box, probably because that there is no administrator account on the system.

  
  

  I seem to be completely locked out from changes to the admin of my system. First thing I will do when I get the machine working again, is to create an alternative admin account to use if it never happens again, but for now, I'm completely stuffed.

  UPDATE: I booted in safe mode with command prompt and run lusrmgr.msc to view accounts. Administrator account is here, just can't see on login screens. I thought that the administrator password should be blank (or perhaps the same one that I put in place with my initial admin-level account), so I tried shift-right-click netplwiz and selecting run as another user, and then typing in Administrator and white as well as a selection of passwords possible. No joy. It does not accept any combination of names of users and passwords.

  So, how to use the administrator account?

  Aaaaaargh!

  I have fixed my problem on Windows 7 guest user.  The problem is after I added the computer successfully in my area, I decided to change the name of the computer. So I changed the name and the past of the domain to the working group. After rebooting I connected under the no original domain account, I created, but it was no longer a member of the administrator group and has been labeled as guest user account type.  I had not enabled the administrator account.

  The solution: press F8 at startup for Advanced Startup Options.  Select the option 'Safe Mode with command prompt'.  I was given the opportunity to log on as an administrator, and I did.

  I entered my orders, first to change the admin password then command to activate the administrator account:

  "password net user administrator"-password the password to use.  (Password must meet complexity requirements)

  "net user administrator / Active: Yes.

  Computer restarted and I is presented with the option to connect as administrator.  Connected and managed to create a new account and add to the domain.

  I use InDesign CS6 on 64 Bit Windows 10 right now to create a school report. At some point, I created a table of contents of the entire book. As I restyled content in one of the documents in the book, I had to update the table of contents.

  For the moment I clicked on "Layout" > "Update Table of contents", I heard a notification sound (for the dialog box "Table of contents has been updated"). But the dialog box that combines this noise ("Table of contents has been updated") does not!

  As a result, any screen that is filled with InDesign area becomes unclickabe (I hear sound error every time I click on it). Furthermore, I can't perform any action, like save the documents/book. I think this is due to the fact that the "Table of contents was updated correctly-" dialogue does not appear, but it is hidden somewhere in any case. Now my InDesign window is blocked and I can't save my documents more...

  Can someone help me? I would at least save my progress unregistered, or be able to get it back if I have to force - quit InDesign to operate again.

  Well, I looked a little more and found out that InDesign retrieves files not saved at startup (link). It turns out that, InDesign saves the changes in its cache of recovery every minute. For me, it was quite safe to just force-close it and restart InDesign.

  So whenever this kind of weird error happens, there is a great chance you can just force - close and restart InDesign, as he will take care of any change of / / / Unsave, which will apply to your documents/books then opened.

• I can't do anything with the text boxes in my InDesign file.

• Fixed someone having problems generating a file format epub from InDesign file?

  I use a Mac OS 10.9.5 version and CC Adobe InDesign 10.1.0.71

  I have an InDesign file that I used it to generate a fixed format EPUB. Generally, it was working fine and I was just fixing some strange pieces of type (followed and horizontal scaling seemed to be throwing) and optimize the images to get the best size of file.

  However, with the last update of Indesign, does not seem the same file to generate the Epub files that are the least bit similar to my InDesign files! The text flows everywhere and this is another font, characters run into each other, text boxes are ignored etc.

  I took an old file on my archives, just to make sure that this is nothing that I did. However this file too generates properly - it must be that something caused by the update InDesign last right?

  The document is in small chapters but in its entirety, it's 300 pages, so I really need your help to find out why it works now - I can't just quickly re-make. I have a few pictures, we show the crazy formatting (which is supposed to be of fixed format) the other shows how it looks in InDesign.

  If anyone can help that would be really appreciated!

  I couldn't come up with something that might help. If I find a way I will let you know. Maybe others here may give it a shot.

  Edit: I finally could get just with a few changes. Get rid of the character applied to Text Styles (use None). Use the paragraph Styles rather changing universal Adobe paragraph composer Adobe paragraph composer. I think that the application of character to the whole text styles was the main problem. Also when you export the general/Options choose Convert across the landscape Page. Make a copy of your file and make your changes and see if it improves. This is what it looks like on iBooks.

  This morning I turned on my work computer, only to find out that I couldn't access my Indesign, photoshop or illustrator files, despite the fact that some files have been saved on the computer and an external hard drive. There are now 100's of files I cannot now access and I start to panic as my dept IT said they didn't know why.

  Files appears as white thumbnails and when I clicked on them the following message appears:

  Adobe Indesign does not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format is may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.

  I had been using the same version of Indesign (CS4) along is not as if I have recently updated and now can't open files. I tried also to open the files on another computer, but no luck. It seemed just to take place overnight, and no one has all the answers. If someone has experienced something similar with as many files, I would appreciate your advice and I also want to understand the cause of the problem, so something like this doesn't happen again.

  First of all, I think that there is a pretty good chance that the files are OK and that the damage, whatever it is, is the program level and has been done to your entire network. You have another system not connected to your network at home perhaps, where the opening, you can try some of these files?

  I hesitate to ask what is obvious (as I say, I'm not able to guess these guys), but if they are Windows systems, have they tried a system restore to a few days, or restore from a backup to a Windows image or a Mac system?

• Link InDesign files in an InDesign Master file?

  I found that I can link several files InDesign in a single InDesign Master document using the "Place" command which allows me or others make changes in each separate and then InDesign file update the links in the document master InDesign through the links Panel. I wonder what others think to do this and what advantages or disadvantages anyone experienced using this layout technique. For example, how are the links within the files of individual work if say one of them is broken, how will this affect the file in the Master. Or what happens when the Master InDesign packed for output file? How this handful of collecting all the links individual files or all content and images should be incorporated into each individual to avoid working file and linking issues in the Master Document. Since it is possible to link the InDesign Documents in a Master InDesign file, this is something that should be done?

  I have a project that requires the design of variable signs that need to be updated, and then create a link to a Master InDesign document. For the first round, I used the traditional way of building the panels in Photoshop and placing them in the InDesign document, that works pretty well and I am able to recreate a link to them. Howerer, I wonder if multiple files using InDesign will work out because I can then use paragraph, character and Styles of object as well as the other tool in InDesign to maintain consistent all the. Please let me know your opinion on this.

  I put a compressed file to the printer if I have an option at all. The high resolution PDF on export correctly, has all the necessary information, and none of th e hassles with fonts or the missing links that can occur when you work with native files.

  I recently got an InDesign file, and I need to update a few photos.  The problem is when I click on any tool and move it to the document, I get an icon of a pencil with a line through it, and I can't do any changes?  Is there a simple setting I can change to fix this?

  The layer is locked. Open the layers panel, click the lock icon.
