  • The update is ready to install? Every day, day after day?

Every day, I get a message saying "an update of stability and security for Firefox has been downloaded and is ready to install." Every day, I said to restart Firefox to install. I'm not a computer genius, but every day? makes me suspect something is not installed.

The update process is stuck. Go to http://www.mozilla.com and download the full version the most recent is 4.0.1 in 2-3 days it will be 5.0

After downloading, use Ctrl + J to make appear the downloads, and start the installation, when the installation starts down Firefox (be sure it is down in the control panel).

At the end of the installation don't let not the installation start Firefox for you instead stop there and then start Firefox to your habit - this way, you do not create a new profile and add confusion.

Or you can wait until 5.0 comes out June 21 (upgrade to look at 22), I think it would be a full download means less chances of getting stuck. There will be no change to the interface of all add-ons should be automatically improved from 4 to 5. "Do not follow request" will be moved to another place in the options.

  • How to replace "apply downloaded update now" with "Check for Updates" in the menu help when the update fails because the downloaded update files are missing but the "Ready to install update" window keeps appearing?

    Question

I have another type of problem with Firefox

    Description

Window "Ready to Install" Firefox "Software Update" appeared. The folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates\0" contained the files update.mar, update.status and update.version. Each of the 3 files have been deleted. The next time that Firefox has been started, no update occurred because update files were missing. In the Menu bar, clicking Help showed in the menu drop-down that "apply downloaded update now" was always on the list. By clicking on "Apply downloaded update now" open "Software Update" window "Ready to install update", so that Firefox still considers that the update files exist, but they do not. In the window "Software Update", by clicking on "Restart Firefox" restart of Firefox, but once again it there's no update, and remains "apply downloaded update now" on the Help menu. How can "Apply downloaded update now" be replaced by "Check for Updates" so the update files can be downloaded?

You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).

"When I turn off my computer, I have an icon of" ready to install update "in the upper right of the button 'disable' located between the"stand by"and"restart"buttons. In the past, I would occasionally get one of these notices, but now they happen whenever I'm on the computer. What are these updates and why they are so common and if they pose a threat to my computer?

    Hi Michael,

    Try the following.

Step 1: Check if there is lack of updates.

    a. click Start, click all programsand then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

    (c) in the State of this window column, find the update failed to install and then click on the red X. A new window opens that displays the installation error code.

    d. Note the error number. (If any).

Step 2: reset Windows Update components and then install updates. Visit the following link and click on Fixit.

In the previous 18 months there have been many updates toxic that caused problems... these fixes are well eliminated or fixed retroactively or this process will be as walk minefield?

I currently intend to install some office and .net updates separately and to wait on the optional updates updates security priority are installed.

    Thanks for any idea.

Properly installed all updates of security except IE11 upgrade [has a full update of IE8 that should cover most security problems... [Since I use Firefox... or whatever it is, but it is to say... no biggie].

I installed the updates [ie8, etc] 1 security and updates in batches of 20-30 for most recent first then older then. Then I installed the office updates and then a point net 3.51.research showed several versions of dot net needed.

After each batch, I did a restore pt.

Note: this repair facility corrected a connection problem that prevented programs and 32-bit browsers... including malwarebytes to connect to the net. I had followed the many expert suggestions to fix this problem without success before the repair facility.

  • Stop indicates a ready to install update ready but the judgment does not install anything

Using a Windows 7, 16 k RAM system, always had normal installation of updates when there is a "!" stated in the stop start button. Today, there is an indication that an update is ready to install, but when I stop, there is no indication that one or more updates is installed. and when I start the computer the "!" is still there in the start stop button. I tried see if there are specific updates available for the instillation, and no seems to be there. But, as noted, every time I'm going to stop there is indication of an update ready for instillation that is not installed with the computer of the system/stop. Direction/advice/thoughts?

Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.
