    Hi SKGIRL11,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forum.  You can restore your system using restore points.

    Use the system restore feature:

    1. click on Start, type System Restore in the Search box, and then click System Restore under the programs section. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    2. on the System Restore page, click Next.

    3. Select a restore point during which you know the operating system works, and then click Next.

The restore point should be a date that precedes the first time you experienced the problem described in the Symptoms"" section. To select a date, use the option to choose a different restore point , and then click Next.

    4. If you are prompted for the disk to restore, select the hard disk on which the operating system is installed, and then click Next.

Had to do a restoration complete my xp machine and will not update, in the past, system automatically updated with cartridges of siema etc service?

What is happening, it is that it is so more the possibility of a user friendly hands on automatic update of Windows XP from a clean install.  Windows Update will NOT synchronize with and updated in the current order status to update a machine with a clean install of XP, but you separately download some patches and intermediate updates and apply them manually, to have a machine that connects a bit normally with Windows Update.

Install the last update cumulative security for the version of Internet Explorer you have currently is essential, and you need to download separately and install it before going any further.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2888505

Scroll to the information file for XP and Server 2003

Download the file corresponding to your version of Internet Explorer and install first.

It is also highly recommended that you install Firefox because IE8 is limited, probably compromised and sometimes useless and will crash on many sites, including Microsoft sites, including linked just above.

    Step 3:

    Hello

I get very frustrated by that. I restarted my computer and updates began to install automatically. However, he stopped and then I got the message "failure Configuring Windows Updates. Hello Allen,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

According to the scenario, and from now on, I would say that you want to run system restore, and then try to install an update.

Step 1: Perform the system restore

    To use the system restore

Before you start the system restore, save open files and close all programs. System Restore will restart your PC.

    1. Open the system restore by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type System Restoreand then, in the list of results, click System Restore. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. Follow the steps in the wizard to select a restore point and restore your computer.

Important: When you use the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed. Utility Norton may also be removed.

You can also check: System Restore: frequently asked questions

Step 2: Do a selective (one) approach when you install updates.

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.

    3. If you see a message telling you that important updates are available, or you say to look at the important updates, click the message to view and select the updates to install.

    4. In the list, click the important updates for more information. Select the check boxes for the updates that you want to install and then click OK.

    5. Click install updates.

Note: Read and accept the terms of the license and then click on Finishing If the update requires it. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Now, try the above steps and let us know the result, we will be happy to help you further.
