Update Vista SP1 fails with 8000FFFF

I installed windows vista sp1 and sp2 in around March 2011, I decided to uninstall because I couldn't have a 3rd themes on my PC. Now I have a Windows 7 CD, I tried to upgrade my vista but it said I had to install Service Pack 1 to be able to do. I went to windows update and download and install service pack 1, when he had finished he said he had not and gave me the 8000FFFF error code. Also I tried to download service pack 1 from the Microsoft Download Center and install it manually, but always after a reboot I 0x8000FFFF. I've been looking for a solution to this problem since June, but still no luck tried in safe mode, with downloader manually from the microsoft Web site, what I found does not work.

Glad you got it going... If I had to guess, it was very likely updates .net 3.5, which has caused the problem... or maybe, Net 4.5...

  • Vista - update security KB982381 fails with the error Code: 80071AA7

Update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista still fails to install.  At the beginning I had 6 automatic updates which could not install (usually NOT a problem), so I individually installed each... reboot after each update.  Success on those.  I tried to update KB982381 more than 8 times without success.  I don't use IE as my browser.  My computer is constantly trying to install this and reboot... never works.  Don't know what to do.

I did everything you suggested in the last email and I am sorry to say that the update has failed once again.   I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser, but I open IE * to run its difficulty etc.  I ran Windows Update (reset) in aggressive mode (what settings it reset?  I noticed when I went to the Control Panel, to look for updates and it listed that it is 'never' updates etc.).  When I did find updates sent to download, it came with one that was a failure and the other for Windows Defender.  This one has installed fine.  Let me know what I should try!  Thank you

    Hello again,

Thought I would let you know that I've finally sorted this! :)

In another forum I read a post from someone who had a similar problem and solved it by uninstalling the "failures" updated, restart the PC and then re-run the update. It worked! It had not occurred to me to try what I've assumed that 'impossible' meant that they had not installed at all, not that they didn't had simply not installed correctly and must have become corrupt.

I hope this will help someone else who has the same problem, I've had!

    Best wishes

    Ian,
You may want to reset the Windows Update components and try the update again.  Also if you have not yet done, download the update and save it on your dektop and then run it from there.

  • 800736B 2 of error Code woes. Windows Update (Vista SP2) fails to install a bunch of updates

I know that this problem was posted a lot everywhere on the internet (even here), but I would like to explain a little better than everyone else and maybe I can somehow get to the bottom of this.

    The problem:

I am trying to update my acer 4/5 years, grandfathers aspire running Windows Vista. Whenever I try to install the following updates:

    http://i.imgur.com/SBxv8.jpg

I get 6 updates installation failed with error code 800736B 2. When I turn the computer off, he pretended to go through the process of 'completion' facilities update 6 (you know what I mean, it says after that windows has disconnected the user is installing updates). It takes about 15 minutes, then when I re - turn on the computer and check the updates again the exact same updates are always listed.

    The attempts of a solution:

I downloaded and used the update tool for Windows Vista (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821) system. It shows the exact symptoms of the same as the rest of the updates. It "installs" (which lasts about an hour. Said it was successful. Then I restart the computer, it 'full' Update 1 on 1 which have been installed, when I opened the tool (after reboot), it says that I have to reinstall the same update (KB947821). So obviously it cannot be installed but for some reason any thought that he didn't.

I also tried to run this tool in safe mode and had an error that says that I can't run it in safe mode. Sweet.

I wanted to download the updates manually (I was hoping that they would be in the form of some .exe or something) then run their safe mode, since you can't use windows update in safe mode. I looked around online a lot, but could not find a way to download the updates manually. I found a bunch of guides tell me how to do, but non of them work. My guess is that they removed the support for it.

If anyone has any ideas as to what I can do without having to reinstall windows it would be awesome. My grandfather is really exhausted all of this current vista installation so wipe everying is probably a bad idea. I would like to avoid it at all costs.

    Hello

You can try the steps in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883825 for a similar error, but others indicated that they were able to solve this problem by using the KB.

So I tried to download KB979482 here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=9622 and run it standalone.

However, when I try this, Windows Update Standalone install displays the message"this update does apply to your system."

I can live with that (if the message is actually true). But if if this patch does not apply to my system, then why Windows Update keep trying to install it as an update 'important '? How can I get off the list so that the Windows Update log is not cluttered with all of the failed attempts?   Finally, I ran Windows Update Fixit tool available.  He fixed a couple of things (default location, another minor config) but not this problem.

P.S. running BitDefender 2012 if it matters...

To answer my own question, you can reset the status of the following method KB2509997 8 download and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. It would be nice if there was a less force brute to do this, because she loses all your update story and settings, but at least it works.

I suggest that you try make a Place to upgrade and then try to install the updates.

Note that it takes the same amount of time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

    I'm desperate...

I use a mini Logitech dinovo keyboard like a keyboard for my P200. It connects via Bluetooth. My Bluetooth connection is a Bluetooth USB device provided with the keyboard. I downloaded and installed the driver from the BT monitor and it does not change anaything. I installed the drivers of BT stack, but it doesn't

    Please can someone help me?

    Much appreciated,

In such situations, there are two sides. It will be interesting to know if there is a problem if you try to connect another BT device to your laptop. Try it with your mobile phone if BT is available.
I can't imagine the BT device doesn't properly work.

Have you tried to contact Logitech technical support? Maybe they have the solution to this.

All you have done is OK, but I can imagine that that SP1 of Vista SP3 in Windows XP Home edition can perform or certain disorders.

Please check other BT device functionality and display the results.

As I type this i / m re - run SFC/verify only and a big pile of sucessfully some updates installed.

What have I done? I took possession of the special directories above from "TrustedInstaller".

Even when owned by TrustedInstaller, it does not have permissions. Some places I found rejection specific to the owner of the network.

-What happened? Do you have a trusted Installer get stuck Mid-install?

I took possession of SYSTEM, and made sure the CREATOR had every right, as in the SYSTEM and

I took possession, and then all of the repressed, updates windows are presented themselves to install,.
