    Hello

Check your level of service current pack...

    • Hold down the Windows (between Ctrl and Alt) key and press Pause break
    • Examine what is listed in the system: section

If there is no service pack designated first level you must download SP2 from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=28

.. .and then run the downloaded program to install SP2.

Once you have done this, or if you were already in service pack 1, 1a or 2, then install SP3 by downloading and running from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

For both of the above, you can ignore the text that says it's for network installations and also ignore the text advising windows/microsoft update if a single update of a PC.

So try and get up-to-date with the Windows updates.

  • Update Windows 8 pro 8.1 pro - product key/activation required?

I have a dell latitude E5530 it came preinstalled and active with windows 8 pro. I get guests to update to 8.1 and indeed when I go to store the link is available. However, I want to know if I need the product key for this upgrade? Will I need to reactivate after upgrade? If so how can I get the current installation product key? The upgrade will also default 8.1pro?

Thanks for your help, I know that these issues are pretty basic but I can't seem to find the answers in the son and I saw the charges based on complaints from upgrade so I'm trying to be careful.

The product key for the 8.0, you already is built into the system (it was on stickers on the laptops, but now it is embedded in the BIOS of the motherboard).

The 8.1 update is a service pack, so it won't change your product key or activation, and no new key is required.  It's just a set of updates.

  • HP 355 G2: update Windows 7 Pro for Windows 8 Pro

We are a charitable organization of small learning supporting 3 other charitable organizations who were lucky enough to get funds to buy laptop computers.  After buying 12 we seem unable to talk to someone at the supplier or the HP that can solve a very simple problem!  The laptops have the system operating Windows 7 Pro but included in the box is a Windows Pro 8.1 operating system and it seems that you can not pass directly from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and get a drive of Windows 8 for each of 12 laptops is impossible.  The provider does not have the technical know-how (even if a technology company!) and HP will not talk on the phone a number as large as 12!  I'm still trying to solve this problem after 4 weeks.  I do not think that we will buy HP new equipment!

    Hello:

While I do not work for or represent HP, W8.1 OEM disk Pro comes with your laptop is only for a clean install of Windows 8.1.

It is not intended nor permitted to be used as an upgrade disc.

You cannot spend W7 to W8.1 and keep the existing programs with this disc.

If you want to install W8.1, you need to boot from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen to do a custom (clean) installation of W8.1.

This disc is a full installation disc and product key OEM of W8.1 in the BIOS of your PC will work for a clean install of W8.1 OEM.

Your laptop came with W7 Pro installed through W8.1 Pro downgrade rights.

Make sure that you create a recovery W7 media for each cell that you plan to install W8.1 on because you will not be able to reinstall W7 without a license key, if you decide you want to come back on W7.

The HP Recovery Manager program to create the recovery media before installing Windows 8.1.

  • Need to update Windows Vista Pro to Windows 7 or 8, and MS Office 2007 version the most recent which products do need me?

    Hello

Hope someone here might be able to help. Running Windows Vista Ultimate Pro OS but realize I have to make the trip up to 7 or 8.1. Can someone tell me how to do this (i.e. should I get Windows 7, then update to 8.1, or can simply go directly from Vista to 8.1)?  I'm hoping to minimize the costs that we are on a bit of a fixed income here. Can I use upgrades or what I must have full OS to move?

On the front of MS Office, currently sports Office 2007, but desperately need to move until the most recent is and again, this can be done cheaply? I mean can I pay at a discounted price on eBay or Amazon or I have to go directly to the shop of MS to ensure an authentic copy (but * frown * full price)?

It's been rough, the last 4 years, but I think that things are finally looking a bit and wanted to get new systems / software in place while I still had the chance. Don't want to be caught in the position where Microsoft continues the upgrade / support versions that I run, it's a kind of scary place, unless it is on an old / computer test, but not my direct computer to use computers all day.

Any assistance with this will be appreciated. Thank you all and have a great day!

    Hello

Nothing can 'do with it' If you want legal software.

    What, whether it's "buyer beware".

It's your choice where you buy your software since.

With Windows 7 Microsoft no longer sells, so you use Amazon, etc.

There is no way to upgrade Vista to 8.1

Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
