Update Windows XP, SP2 is not keen to download...

I just did a fresh install of XP on a hard drive extra and I'm trying to update XP, automatic updates are on and I even went on the site for updates to check updates. SP2 has tried to download overnight, but it is not nothing, or do anywhere. Anyone happen to know why this is? All small updates have been downloading fine until updated SP2.

(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, I thought I chose the Windows XP box)

Download the complete file and install:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

(It's for single PCs as well), this way you can keep the same in case you need to reinstall again or integrate SP2 with the original disc.

BTW all links lead to the same Newsgroup to update Windows, for Windows 7, Windows XP, Vista. TaurArian [MVP] 2005-2010 - Update Services

Original title: windows media player will not play my downloaded movies, so I know very lil on computers! Please help me!

I have LimeWire. I downloaded several movies and can't watch them. When I try, it automatically showed the windows media player, and then displays a message saying "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. "I looked for updates, perhaps thinking that I needed one, he says: there is no availiavle. I use the latest version of windows media player. any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's really a simple question, easy to fix. But if you are really not that familiar with the computer, you may want to ask a friend who knows enough to help you.

You can show it to your friend...
What you need is to 'google' for a FREE video converter.
Use the converter and changge movies in WMV file formats. (Sticking with the formats WMV, nothing else).
Once the conversion is complete, you can play these movies in your Media Player.

However, there is another alternative. Install a 3rd party media player called VLC. He plays any video fromats.

  • Windows Update does not recognize that Windows Vista SP2 is NOT installed.

I have Windows Vista x 64 with SP1 and I defined updates on automatic.  However, it does recognize that the SP2 is not installed...  I'm afraid to try to install it manually after reading all the trouble with SP2 on this site.  Could you please tell me why the updates fails to recognize the SP2 is not installed and I have to do to solve it?  I'm not a master IT person, I just want my computer to be as up-to-date as possible.

Thanks for the advice and any help I can get.

    Hi Alamogordo,

    Welcome to Microsoft Windows forums!

Automatic updates would have tried to install sp2 and the installation was corrupt and failed.  So it will not try to reinstall. We have to uninstall sp2 to view update history and try to download and install manually.

    1. click on Start to type windows update in the start search box and click on enter

    2. click on view history of update and uninstall sp2 (kb948465)

    3. use the below given link to download sp2 (download to your desktop)

    4 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=891ab806-2431-4d00-afa3-99ff6f22448d & displaylang = in & displaylang = in

Follow these methods before installing sp2

    Method 1

Try to put your computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista or Windows 7 by performing a clean boot.

Steps to put your computer in a clean boot:

    1. click on Start
    2. type msconfig in the Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    1. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    2. under Selective startup, clear the Load Startup items check box.
    3. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click disable all.
    4. click on OK.
    5. When you are prompted, click restart.

    Method 2

    Run the system update tool

System resources, such as file of data, even in the data memory and registry data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifecycle of the operating system. These contradictions may be caused by various hardware failures or can be caused by software problems. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows Service store, and they can cause software updates not do not work. The system update tool attempts to resolve these inconsistencies.

    3. click on the appropriate link, then run it on your computer.

  • After application of update Windows Vista SP2, FSX will not start

FSX is not started after that I applied Windows VISTA Sp2. When the process is considered to be a task manager, FSX.exe seems to CPU to make loops. Are there not the method to solve something?

    Hi BuyIntel,

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

I suggest to backup your saved games and reinstall the program.
Something in the Service Pack may have corrupted some aspects of FSX, this should solve it.

I suggest also to visit your video card manufacturers website to download the latest drivers and re-installation of the unit.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows xp sp2 will not be closed

Ok. That is the problem. The acrobat reader software has notified me a updated and when I try to update it freezes and does not allow me to put an end to the update.

When I try to turn off the computer, because the update is still trying to install, the system does not stop. In order to accomplish a tap downstairs I have to start the Task Manager and stop the process of adobearm.exe. Then I can close.

My system: Windows xp sp2 - drive worm 9.5.0

I am able to use the installed drive, it is, according to me, the update process that is causing problems.

So, I uninstalled the drive, then tried to reinstall it on your web site and got a failure here. After working at it a bit, I chose the version of windows xp sp3 and installed. Again he tried to update and the problem started again everywhere.

A temporary fix I turned off updates.

When the update fails from within the program there are several reasons for reasons for which the possible answers. • Windows Movie Maker is not let me download Flip images because I don't have the correct codec?

I have a Flip video Ultra, model U112OB, and I am trying to download his images on my PC so I can modify it with Windows Movie Maker.  But whenever I try to bring it on movie maker it says: the F:\DCIM\100VIDEO\***+ file. MP4 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to re-import the file.

I visited a websight to support customer flip and ordered to download online with windows, but I was not able to find what I'm looking for.

    Any Suggestions?

First... Download the video in a folder on your hard drive.

There is some info on the following link:

Movie Maker and Flip digital camcorders
    http://www.Papajohn.org/mm2-CamcordersFlip.html

(FWIW in Windows Live Movie Maker 7...) MP4 files
    should be compatible)

Then, convert the video to the. WMV format.

There are many programs that can do conversions...
The following freeware is an example...:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
    (the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

Now, the clamps must be compatible with Movie Maker.

    Good luck.

  • Updated Windows 8 stuck at 0 k, 0% downloaded

I tried various methods (bulk update, update both, selective update updates), but am not able to download and install windows updates. I also tried troubleshooting techniques using the tool and using the command prompt to stop and start services, but nothing helped.

There are a total of 60 important updates that are stuck in this State.

Because of this, I am not able to conduct an updated version 8.1 of Windows either, because it is not visible in my store. In fact, I am facing a similar problem with the store, in which updates are not going through and get stuck between the two.

Pointers to tackle this problem would be useful.

Let it run for a few hours. On my laptop that was also new, he remained at 0%, but it was actually to download updates. Many of them are updates frame lying around long. I had this problem on two different computers complete, I guess it's a windows problem.
