  Sometimes, the display freezes on my Satellite S1900-303. The laptop always uses the original graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon M6, with driver version 6.13.10.6052 dated dated 22/03/2002.

  Can anyone tell if the latest driver available for the graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon M6? I tried the ATI (now AMD) & Toshiba sites without a bit of luck.

  The outgoing ATI Mobility Radeon M6 graphics card can be replaced with a more up-to-date map that will not crash?

  I am running XP SP3 / 1 MB RAM / 320 GB HARD drive.

  Eh, I've had this laptop for the year 2003 model and it was pretty good laptop.
  Currently, I have used original recovery image with the latest updates from Microsoft.

  Now you have SP3 and probably a lot of new software pre-installed on it. Who knows why this is happening there?
  When you say that the display freezes sometimes does that mean exactly? Does make some operations or what?

  It is not easy to provide support for this old piece of hardware.
  Latest driver? I don t think you find it.
  Update graphics card? Forget it. Laptop is not designed for these upgrades.

  The DVD/CD on my Satellite S1900-303 drive needs to be replaced (not surprising given the age of the laptop!) It was purchased in January 2003 and is still going strong

  I would like to replace the old disk with a DVD R/W drive. Can anyone suggest a compatible replacement unit and where can I buy a home?

  Please refer to the manuals of s use and you will find the list of all compatible optical disc drives that can be used with this old notebook.
  Where to buy? For me, it's a question completely unnecessary because we don t know where do you live and if I find a drive to the Japan I m wondering if this info will help you.

  Use Google for your country, put the ODD model number and see if you can find a store online in your country where you can order.

  I would highly recommend you to check eBay. You will find many parts Toshiba and such ODD, you can get for less money. I mean why spend a lot of money for new ODD if you can use the one used.
  Satellite 1900 is very old model of laptop, and I think that you should not spend a lot of money.

  Check Device Manager if the sound card appears correctly and that the driver has been installed successfully.
  Then check the wheel for volume control on the left side.

  AFAIK the Soundfusion Audio application should be pre-installed on this laptop. You should find it in the control manager. There you can set up the speakers.

  The last possibility is to check the sounds and audio devices section you can find also in the control manager.
  Check that the 'secret' is not marked. Check all controllers (also advanced options) and try to put it at high level.

  at first I thought your problem your laptop want boot from LAN.

  Check the BIOS, could be formulated with pushing the ESC key when the Red TOSHIBA logo appears, enter on boot order (First Boot Device).

  I think that your PC is the first device to set startup to local network.

  Any optical drive slim form factor fits physically to your laptop, but you'll hjave to make sure that you get with the correct connectivity. It will be either master or slave (and sometimes C/salt). This setting is normally carried out by the manufactrer reader and it is not easy to change later unlike the larger disks used in PC where you can return some small switches to change the setting.

  To be sure, you can ask your local authorized Toshiba Service partner which models are fully compatible.

  In regards to your hard drive, you can choose any hard drive manufacturer (the MK designation indicates a Toshiba drive) but I don't know if 100 GB is greater that the BIOS will allow you. I know that 80 GB working fine (I use a Fujitsu 80 GB HDD in my SA30) but I've never tried a higher capacity drive.

  You may also like to consider a faster rotation speed. GAS from Toshiba records with the suffix are usually 4200 RPM, while those with a GAX suffix are quicker to 5400 RPM. MK8025-GAX is a good option.

  My DVD-RW in my laptop TS L632D dead and I need a new.

  To be honest it s I do not know that this reader of CD/DVD problem.
  Like you probably n t know every CD/DVD drive doesn t takes care of all the s possible CD or DVD from different manufacturers.
  Some CD and DVD is more compatible and some of CD or DVD s are not entirely compatible.

  However, the point is that you need a new CD/DVD drive.
  I checked the manual A200 (can be downloaded from the Toshiba page) and there is a list with some compatible players.
  Check the page for the user 6 and 7

  You can also call the ASP in your country. The guy knows what CD/DVD players are compatible with your laptop!

I tried an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030, but unfortunately, this card is not compatible, too. It seems that there are already two incompatible cards according to the BIOS whitelist...

  I don't know where is the question. This list above is maps that will accept the BIOS. It must be the good chip and there was also a HP wireless card part covered so if buy you one that has a HP Ref. label, it will not work otherwise.

• Satellite 1900-303: WLan 2200BG card with no signal

  I installed a wireless mini pci Intel 2200 B/G wireless adapter for my Toshiba Satellite S1900-303. The laptop has the slot availible with the sons of the antenna, which I connected to it, but I get no signal. The drivers are installed & working properly.

  I have other portable wireless which work very well on the wireless network, but this laptop gets no signal from my network or any other network for THST question, please please there at - there someone out there who knows of a similar problem /solution.

This only happens when the software converts a .wmv or other types of files in files DVD/VCD compatiable. If I try to burn a DVD/VCD file without converting them, the system will not crash! I tried to uninstall/reinstall the software... I deleted all the hard drive and reinstalled everything. But same problem persists.

  Obviously, the system crashes when the activity of the CPU is very high (data file conversion or use of the software that needs to scan the HARD drive). In this case, CPU activity is very high, CPU produce a lot of heat, and I presume that the unit is not cooled properly right now. Satellite 1900 is aged about 3 years and if you didn t clean yet you should do.

  When you remove all dust, the vents will work properly and hardware components can be cooled to the right way.
