Updated full M610/620 PERC H310 Mini RAID 1 disk

I have 8 servers in my M1000e chassis.  They have all two drives 146 GB in Raid-1.  Just got in a boat load of 600GO drives gently used off PE R630 servers who are re-designed in a laboratory.

I would like to replace all the records with the largest, with minimal downtime and no data loss.

Advice? Tips? Advice?  Everything would be extremely appreciated before I mess up and make + 400 users very angry with me...

Hello.

It is possible to perform this operation with minimal downtime. Ensure that you have a backup validates your data just to be safe. You can do this by deleting every old hard drive and replacing with 600 GB disk, one at a time. Let the new drive to rebuild completely before replacing the other. You can monitor the progress of the reconstruction in OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) if installed. Clear the foreign configuration if it appears on the disc, if the drive rebuilt and state LOAN ; assign as a Global hot spare.

You will notice that the total capacity of the virtual disk (VD) will not 600GO, because there will be unused space on the disks. You will use the property capacity expansion (OCE) online from your controller to claim unused space. In OMSA, GB storage-> PERC H310-> virtual disk-> available-> Reconfigure tasks-> capacity and continue. Under RAID level, select RAID 1 and enter 100 to recover any space unused on the disks and continue. See schematic illustration below:

    Hello

I'm a little new to the RAID configuration.

I have 4 hard drives SATA, 2 1 TB HARD drive and 2 2 TB HARD drive. I just want my 1 TB on a RAID 1.

    When I did, I couldn't find the 2 x 2 TB of HARD drive.

Is it possible to access the other 2 HARD disk when they are connected to a controller?

I think I understand what you're getting now.  You are unwilling to LOOT the other two drives of 2 TB. So, what you see is correct. The operating system will not show other readers because they must be configured in RAID if they are logged as such.  You will need to create them individually as long as two separate RAID 0 VD.

Then you will see the BIOS RAID PERC of the VD 3 total.

    VD0 - OS RAID1 (disks 0 & 1)
    VD1-RAID 0 (disk 2)
    Vd2-RAID 0 (disk 3)

In Windows disk management, you also them as 3 separate logical drives that you can work with.

  • PERC H310 Mono Mini Non-RAID?

    Hello guys,.

I don't understand why I can't convert the non-raid drive in the BIOS of the controller or the idrac interface. There is no menu to do it in the bios, and while the menu appear in the interface of the idrac when I try to apply, it is said that the operation is not supported.

Yes, the H710 supports the migration of virtual disks H310.

  • PERC H310 H710p migration

    Hello

I'm not an expert in RAID configurations but I am in charge of server Dell T320 my company and we will replace the storage controller that comes with it (H310) with a PERC H710p. We have a configured RAID-1 and we will continue to use the two disks of same after migration. We will replace the controllers.

I know I have to do a backup before you replace the Exchange, but we will lose the RAID-1 configuration and data (including the operating system) after migration? Or it will be transparent to the system after reboot?

Where can I find a type of paper that could guide me through this process because I don't want to wreck anything.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Jorge

    Hello.

It is advisable to back up your data before performing any maintenance task. Ensure that you have a backup is valid data. The PERC H710 P supports the migration of virtual disk controller PERC H310. As a best practice, make sure that the hard drives and firmware H710 P is up to date. Replace the H310 and update the H710 P firmware with the controller cables disconnected from the background. Stop the server and connect the cables of the controller in the background and then restart.

Your RAID configuration can be transparent to the system or appear in a foreign configuration. Clear the foreign configuration through the utility OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) or Ctrl + R for the POST.

I would like to know how it works for you.

  • Where the PERC H330 Mini 25.4.0.0011 firmware?

I installed OMSA 8.3 week last on a brand new R430 with all the latest available firmware upgrades applied.

    Despite this, the server notifies:

"The current version of the firmware 25.3.0.0016 is earlier than the version required 25.4.0.0011 for Controller 0 (PERC H330 Mini).

I tried the Dell downloads for the 25.4.0.0011 & driver version without a bit of luck.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hello

There was a problem with this version of firmware. We have learned from the download site. 25.3.0.0016 is the version that is currently available.

25.4.0.0011 probably won't. A new version that fixes the problems of fate in his place. If you do not want to wait the new FW version or a new version of the OMSA to get rid of the update notification, you can change the file version. In your installation of OMSA directory there is a file called lsiver.cfg. The current version information is stored in this file. The default installation directory should be something like:

    c:/program files/dell/sysmgt/sm/cfg

The file must be located in this directory. If you open the file with Notepad and search for H330, you should be able to locate the H330 current firmware version information. There are several H330 controllers. If you don't know what controller you are using, you can change all the 25.3.0.0016 or you can just change the controller you are using. I think that there are three different H330s appear in this file.

  • read S.M.A.R.T. in PERC H710 Mini disc?

    Hello

I have a few servers Dell R520 (all running Win 2012 64 bit) with the H710 Mini Raid PERC controllers inside.

Is it possible to access/view S.M.A.R.T. attributes of their hard drives? Dell OpenManage Server Administrator can only tell info like "physical disk is OK" or "physical disk is Non-critical," which is not much. I want to see more details. I use on older machines Dell Crystal Info disc, but the R520, is not to see all readers (and other similar utilities, I tried were also blind).

(OMSA is version 7.4.0 and hard drives have SMART)

    Any tips?

    Thank you

    Hello.

We will be happy to advise.  The S.M.A.R.T error can be found on the BIOS OF THE controller on POST via CTRL-R. It is under the column PD Mgmt for physical disks.  Highlight each drive and see the right side of the screen for information about the number of errors. However, that's all he says.

It is recommended to use the OMSA software to export the detailed log. The log file will be in the form of a text file and can be exported from the configuration options of the controller-level information. You can check the newspaper for "BADLBA" (bad logical addresses) or other sense key errors.

Otherwise, the software will be asked the failed drive arriving at a certain limit of non correctable errors in which the player will then be marked as PREDICTIVE don't allow you replace before switching to offline mode, causing a degraded VD.

Finally, it is built in the diagnosis of the USC F10.  Although it will not display the errors detailed by car, you can run the hard drive test accordingly for the General failure analysis.

  • POLE H310 Mini for PowerEdge M520 20.12.1 decommissioning - 0002 to 20.12.0 - 0004

    Is it possible to downgrade POLE H310 Mini for PowerEdge M520 20.12.1 - 0002 to 20.12.0 - 0004?

    Hello

Yes, and since the previous update was conducted by "LCC" you can just use the Undo feature. Everything you need to do is put a check in the "Rollback" of the firmware Version you want to return to. Then click on the button to update and it will restore the firmware.

If the CDC does not list a version you want to go back then you may need to download the executable version of BACK of backflash firmware update. He must give a warning message that the version you are installing is older than the currently installed version. You should be able to continue the update though.

    Thank you

  • Dell Perc H310 T420-compatible hard drives

    Hello experts,

I have a server T420 with 8 Bay running 2 SATA 3 "switchable hot 5 Dell hard drives.  The controller is a Perc H310.

I would like to know what kind of hard drives could be integrated into empty compartments. I would like to use non - Hot Swap as well to extend storage. Buy standard 3 "5 7200 RPM Sata Hard Drivies? Will it work?

Thanks in advance. Appreciate your attention.

    Concerning

    Afreire,

You can use enterprise class SATA disks up to 4 TB in the remaining locations. You will need to the carriers for the readers, even if they are non-RAID.   H310 controller supports the use of JBOD (just a bunch of disks) without having them in a RAID.   OpenManage them will see as non-RAID drives.

    Kind regards

  • PERC H330 and Raid 5, try adding another SATA drive raid 5 array

    Hi all

I have one server PowerEdge T330 with 8 slots of disc and have currently 3 SATA drives running a raid 5 configuration.  I have a virtual disk configured for Raid (must).

The operating system recognizes the disk and is able to use the resources...

My desire is to add another hard drive to the table (hard disks of the same size, same brand, etc.) with 4 disks without losing any data.

I looked in the settings of the iDrac and the only adjustment was to add the new disk as a global hot spare or a hot spare dedicated to the virtual drive.

I also looked in the BIOS and do not see a way to add the new drive.

Does anyone know how to increase capacity?  I can blow the virtual drive if necessary and start over without problem.  I intend to gradually accomplish this Act until adding 8 disks. (5 times).

    Help!

    Hello.

Management controllers RAID and tables is not made in the BIOS iDRAC or systems. For the management of the RAID (virtual disks) arrays, you have OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA). If not installed, see the link: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=TK61C once installed, go to-> Storage->-> H330 PERC controllers-> virtual disk--> sub tasks available-> select reconfigure and run-> then check a box to add the fourth disk on the next page. Follow the prompts and allows you to extend your range of RAID 5.

  • R320 / Perc H310 / SATA 3.5 - want to use SSD

    Hello

    I recently bought a Dell taking r320.

Unfortunately, I realized that I would have probably gone to Perc H310, am looking to upgrade. I would also like to run with SSDS supported, even if it is in the format of disk 3.5 "caddy. Can someone help me determine what parts I need to buy for this specification. I don't mind move from SATA to SAS (no doubt, it's just a change of cable?).

    Thanks for your help.

Looking at your photos (which somehow only published this morning, but with a timestamp older than my response), you don't need to worry about wiring. Backplane SAS aura disks SAS or SATA, 2.5 "or 3.5" variety.

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).
