Updated HP dv6tse HDD to SSD

I have a laptop HP dv6tse 3000 CTO with a Seagate 500 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive. I plan to replace my HDD with a Kingston SSDNow V 64 GB 100.

I just wanted to know that in fact my laptop model (product I would like to VX067AV) supports SSD SATA II disks?
SSDNow v + is also a good choice?

Asked and answered.

This question has beenanswered in your other thread. I've provided a video as well.

  • Pavilion g6-1d21dx: no luck update Pavilion g6-1d21dx to SSD

I tried to replace the hard drive in my g6-1d21dx with a SSD Pavilion before enjoying the free update of Windows 10. I installed the drive (a unit of SanDisk Extreme 480 GB that I had sat unopened for a while) and then used my recovery discs for Windows 7 on SSD. The process seemed to go very well - he went through all the discs five recovery, restarted from the SSD and began the installation process. Soon, I got an error message "restoration incomplete" well. So much for that. (The HP Recovery Manager also gave me this incredibly helpful explanation: "there could be unexpected reboot phase Specialize in BBV1.) ("The process will cause panic CTO because the image might not be normal") on the reset, I also had an error message about ntoskrnl.exe is damaged or missing.

I put the original back drive computer to and updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on this drive, just to get the license Windows 10 (it was the last day to get the free upgrade). I also used Windows 10 media creation tool to create a Windows 10 installation DVD. Then, I put the SDS back to and I tried to install Windows 10 using the DVD. I tried several times, but the installation has always fails. I got error messages like "Windows could not set the offline locale information. "Error code: 0x80FE0000" and "we could not format the selected partition. [Error: 0 x 8070057]. "I've also had this a few times:"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows cannot read the selected drive. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows has no determine if this disc and his parents have the necessary driver support. »

This computer isn't all what age - it is possible that the BIOS does not support the SSD? I updated the BIOS of the SSD, but that has not solved the problem. I also made sure the BIOS of the computer is up to date.

Thanks in advance for any relevant information.

Here are the conclusions that I have reached after spending a lot of time on this project to upgrade:

At the beginning of this thread, what you advised me strongly to clone my old hard drive instead of trying a new install of Windows 10 on my SSD. I recommend the contrary unless your system works perfectly with your old hard drive, because this way, you can leave the system, the software and the data files on your old hard drive intact in case you go account you have to go back and check on something or you decide to abandon the upgrade. I found that there is no mystery to a cleaning only install on an SSD, as long your SSD is compatible with your computer. I had updated my old HDD from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and after this upgrade, I was getting other error messages every time, I started the computer (inaccessible_boot_device, unexpected_store_exception and kernel_data_input_error). Since there are so many problems on my old HDD, I have probably restores it to Windows 7 so I can always, in case I ever need to refer to my old configuration. Web sites said that once that Windows 10 has been enabled on your computer, future Windows 10 installs on the computer is automatically turned on, even if you have restored the machine to Windows 7 or Windows 8.

If you try a new installation, make sure that you do so with an attached network cable. It makes a huge difference for me. A clean install without a connected network cable has led to all sorts of problems, including a lack of access to the Internet and some devices are not installed correctly. When I did a clean install with an attached network cable, all of my devices have been installed automatically. This includes the Synaptics touchpad, the HP wireless button, the AMD Radeon graphics card and the Realtek card reader. I didn't need to install whatever it is myself, and the Device Manager does not display the unknown devices. Wireless network connected during installation, even my Wi - Fi was not usable during or after installation.

One final note: my g6 Pavilion is 64-bit capable, but I installed 32-bit Windows 10 on it, because I use an old software running under Windows 64-bit 10. So far, 32-bit Windows 10 seems to work very well.

  • Z560 - replace the HDD with SSD - solved using OneKey Recovery

    Hey guys,.

In a few days time Santa is put me an SSD, OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB.

I think to clone the drive following this guide: http://www.ssdfreaks.com/content/664/how-to-clone-hdd-to-ssd-with-windows-7s-own-software and I'm a little confused on the partitions that are currently on the disk.

    I have:

    Local disk C: 552,55 gb,

    LENOVO 28.8 GB D:

and a partition unassigned 14.75 GB.

Does anyone know what contains the unassigned partition? I guess that's the One - Key recovery software? If this is the case, then I intend on deleting the D: Partition, which currently contains drivers, narrows the C:\ about 100 GB and cloning then the C:\ 100 GB and partition unassigned... will this work?

    Bravo guys!

    Rastaman

    Hey guys,.

I got my Vertex 3 today and it is ridiculously fast. Totally recommend it if you can afford it. Anyway, I discovered how do I reinstall my laptop, and I'm going to ask you now:

    (1) One Key Recovery Opened and clicked on 'create recovery disk', followed by 'default recovery drive '.

    (2) thought - sod it, I'll just stay in my new SSD and see what happens. Inserted, set the BIOS to boot from the DVD drive, and then install windows.

    (3) gain?

In fact, I found myself with

    C:\ 96,84 GB

Partion unnamed (14, 75 GB) - this is the area of a key recovery

Unnamed (200 mb) - partition likely etc boot sector reserved by operating system - seen elsewhere on other systems and is quite normal!

So yes, that happened on a NEW SSD building, which had not been formatted before - OneKey Recovery did everything by himself.

I hope this helps people in the future!

    Merry Christmas!

  • Envy 17 3D primary HDD to SSD update

I was wondering the steps I need to take in order to upgrade my current 640GO 7200 HARD for one SSD drive. I read this thread on compatibility, so I'm aware of some issues, I might.
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/hardware-upgrades-replacements/envy-17-SSD-compatibility/TD-p/1251555

I have a 3D Envy 17, I bought around this time last year so its probably an Envy 17-1000 - series 17-1099.  It came with w7 home preinstalled on a 640GO HDD 7200.  I want to put a SSD in the main location and use the 640 current in the secondary location.  I caddy HARD drive for secondary housing already I just need to know what are the steps I have to take for the SSD installs successfully.

Here are some questions I have:

    1. I know that envy is sata2 but most SSDS are sata3, sata3 SSD would be compatible with my desire?
    2. Use you the backup disc made from the 640 GB HARD drive and install it on the SSD or I'd get a new copy of w7 to install?
    3. If using a new copy of w7 pro would be the system, the video card drivers and 3d pose a problem since it is is not version of w7 HP?
    4. When the SSD is finally installed I can just pop my 640 in the secondary drive slot and pull the personal folders, and then format it or I don't get the personal files of beforhand?

    Hello

    Q1: Yes it is compatible.

Q2: I suggest to create a reduced recovery dvd in the HP Recovery Manager. Solid discs are not as large as the original hard drive and it can lead to problems during the restoration of the system on an ssd.

Q3: An OEM of Windows disk can be used to perform a new installation and download the necessary drivers from HP.

Q4: Yes, just install the hard drive in the Bay secondary and working as a slave drive so save all the data you need and then reformat...

What features should I put my mind in the purchase the SSD?

  • x 230 update HDD to SSD - side rails?

    Hi all

Just got my 230 x today and plans to replace the HARD drive with a Samsung 840pro.

However looking Lenovo manuals, it seems that the HARD drive has rubber tracks and the solid state drive is supposed to have braces.

How I get spacers type SSD, or can I use the rubber rails that are currently in the laptop?

If I do not need them, how can I get them?  I can't find it on the list of accessories.

@Lenovo: any official word on that?

    Yes, it will work.

  • XPS 8500 - replacement HDD and SSD

I'm looking to upgrade of storage on my my Dell XPS 8500... My question here is twofold:

    1. I want to replace my current 2 TB HDD (disk storage) with a 4 TB or 5 TB of HARD drive. I will be able to use and see the full 4-5 to? Or is this a case where I will not be able to use the entire disk or will need to score? Y at - it an update of the BIOS that will allow me full access to training?
    2. I am also looking to replace my mSATA 256GB SSD (boot drive) with a 500 GB mSATA SSD... will it be any problem read this disk after installation (plan to do a clean install of Windows and reload my programs)?

Thanks for your help. Hoping to update soon, but did not buy until I knew what I was getting myself into.

Its a fairly recent machine with a UEFI BIOS, so it should be good... If you have already upgraded to Windows 10 then your system is already a unit of 10 windows and you should be able to clean the Windows 10 installation on the new SSD. If you haven't you should upgrade now as free upgrade expires tomorrow. #

You must use the SATA AHCI operation. I assume you have your system already set up this way as you already have a 256 GB mSATA.

  • MacBook Pro 13 "(mid-2012) do not recognize all internal HDD or SSD

Hello, I have this very annoying problem with my Macbook Pro 13 "mid-2012.

Two days ago he suddenly shows the ""folder with a question mark gray ' screen. " Reading online, I saw that many have had this problem in the past and that usually to fix just do this:

-Restart the Mac, press Cmd + R, then the utility disk, check and repair the drive.

I tried, but there was any Macintosh HD. There is rather a "disk0' with a score of"Mac OS X Base System.

I tried also this, without success:

-Remove the HARD drive and using an "all in 1 HDD Docking Station" try opening the hard drive of another Mac. It says that can not open the disk but I can erase it (did not, I still hope to recover data in the future with some software).

-I already upgrade my Macbook Pro with an SSD, thinking about my drive HARD has been compromised, I bought a Samsung SSD 750 EVO (250 GB) and I replaced the HARD drive.

-J' have formatted the SSD format "Mac OS X Extended (journaled)" and, from another Mac, created a boot USB with El Capitan installer disc.

Then, with the SSD instead of HARD drive, I did all these things:

-Start the Mac, press Option, start the USB key. But no "Macintosh SSD" has been shown when comes to decide where to install El Capitan.

At this point, I was very confused and tried the last chance:

-Start the mac without internal drive but with the SSD in the docking station. Boot from USB and try to install El Capitan on the SSD. And it worked!

But stil does not work when I put the SSD inside the Macbook. Is possible whether the Sata cable who, from one day to the other, stop working?

    PS:

I tried also Reset of the MSC and the Apple Hardware Test extended, giving "No problem found".

I also tried to unplug the Sata cable connectors and clean the cable with a handkerchief, then incredibly SSD Macintosh appeared at the start of the USB, but installation failed at some point. And next time, I tried the SSD disappeared again.

This problem is driving me crazy and I hope someone can help with suggestions. Thank you

    Yes.

A NEW SATA cable will probably will correct the problem.

  • Satellite Pro T130 - 14L: 100% CPU use of acpi.sys after changing the HDD to SSD

    Hello

because I changed my for one SSD HARD drive and reinstalled Windows 7 with 64 bit on this subject, my system works frequently in 100% CPU utilization caused by kernel module acpi.sys, I discovered with process Explorer and confirmed by recording an ETL file.

This problem occurs once an hour on average, sometimes after 10 minutes of functioning of the system and sometimes after two hours, no matter which programs are running and whether or not I is actively using the computer. When I noticed a hanging and see this 100% cpu core in the process Explorer window are currently in use, I always need to save my work (which may take a few minutes) and restart the computer.

I could live with that, but it's pretty nasty. My bios is up to date (version 2.70), as well as my other drivers (no error and no virus found). In other forums I've read, these problems could be avoided by changing the energy registers something Windows settings as never go to sleep of the SSD, but it works in my case as I disabled all energy saving options in Windows and I still have this problem.

Is there maybe an update of the unofficial bios that could solve this problem?
I read in another forum, that an unofficial bios update Dell fixed a similar problem on a Dell computer.

Can someone help me solve this problem please?

    Details of process Explorer:
The wire with TID 160 and the start address:

    ACPI. SYS + 0X1AF7C

suddenly starts using 100% CPU and does not stop until you restart.
Similar problem as in this forum for a Dell PC:
    https://social.technet.Microsoft.com...UM=w7itproperf

Unlike the Dell problem, there is no appropriate-updated bios for me, could you help me if you could tell me how to stop the kernel module (if it starts hanging or even before). Then I could at least avoid frequent restarts.

    Thank you!

    Hello

No, the licensed operating system isn't on the old HDD, is so on the BIOS of your machine you can install SSD of fees if you wish. Pleae Note: you can install olny a swme version/edition of Windows 10.

    The quick and easy way:

1 creating the USB drive recovery using HP Recovery Manager then return files after installing the SSD.

2 clone existing HARD drive SSD using cloning software, then exchange them.
