Updated Windows main question
Ideally, it would be a nobody from Microsoft could chime on this. There is a well documented issue that seems to have got worse earlier this year - Windows 7 PCs are paralyzed by a high utilization of the processor potentially days by the Windows Update service.
http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/all/why-are-Windows-updates-so-slow-and-long-with/b785ff84-b00e-43b1-8628-40cdccb77aca
I've since changed my main PC Windows 10, but my home server has a few hardware & software that is older and not fully tested on Windows 10, so I left it on Windows 7 Pro.
During the last round of patch, my PC has been literally on 40 hours @ 60-75% use of CPU with the KB and 0% progress. Before 2016, it was common if I reformatted my PC and reinstalled, but since the beginning of 2016, it seems to happen almost every month now.
He got to a point where I plan to disable Windows Update. Does anyone have knowledge of * WHAT * the Windows Update service is done with several CPU GHz for 40 hours straight?
installation https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3138612 & https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161664 these updates will fix the problem.

Update Windows 10 question about the music stored on your computer
My Media Player will still work when we update of Windows 10? We don't want to lose our music! We are musicians and have a lot of money invested in the songs that we bought and stored in Windows Media Player... Thanks much for any help you can offer!
Hallo Miki
In theory, your music should be affected by changing to 10 Windows, but it is wise to make sure that nothing is lost by creating full copies of all important personal files (music more documentation pictures and videos) away from your computer before the upgrade. The best bet is an external hard drive USB - sizes range from 250 GB upwards - a similar in size to your pc would be a good thing. Copy music to it and check that the drive is in good working order and if you are happy, start copying everything on. Prevention is better than cure, and there have been a lot of posts on these forums of people who have lost things because something was wrong when upgrading. Another tip... check with your pc manufacturer's support Web site to see if any of their components need update prepares first. This is often overlooked. -Ric.

Help please - Windows update - restart issues (and upgrade to Windows 10 questions?)
Hello
I wanted to switch to Windows 10 but got stuck on the "start download" page, as have other users.
Looking through the other questions on this site, I have seen that Windows update may need to complete before you start with Windows 10.
I had not run windows update for a long time I thought that would mean Windows 10 would install and I wasn't ready for this, but now I am.
Then I ran windows update and more than 150 updates have been installed.
However, he now says:
"Restart your computer to install important updates
Windows cannot update services and important files while the system uses them. Save... "
I rebooted, shut down, rebooted several times, but this message continues to appear in the Windows Update window.
Still, the update of Windows 10 stuck initially download.
I ran disk cleanup in safe mode, as well as normal and tried to restart, but it did not help. I tried the troubleshooting windows update option, but this did not help.
I used two tools, the Microsoft FixIt who did not help and a WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab file which allows to find the two errors and saying: he fixed them, but this still does not work, IE always ask me to restart and Windows 10 gets stuck to download from.
The two problems it finds are listed as:
"Windows Update error 0 x 80070005(2016-05-30-T-08_49_44P)" and is listed as fixed
"Problems install the latest updates" and is considered to be fixed.
I am at my wits end and would be really grateful for the help.
If this becomes technical, please help me in using a step by step method or referring to one for me.
I have a laptop of Toshiba Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I ran the above diagnostic tool and the error was fixed progresses over time, that is to say it is correct to say 09:03 now... Also, to revise accordingly the so-called updates installed, many of them, but not all, have the status of a failed.
What to do about all this?
I suggest you to download the tool for creating Windows Media 10 ISO and make a place in upgrade.

WIndows, internet Explorer does not not after the attempt to update windows
Windows stops responding and lights that shows cpu works doesn't Flash at all.
Whenever I try to use windows update, my computer crashes while updating. I stopped to automatic update for some time and windows was working fine, 2 days ago I try to update manually, it blocks. now, the computer runs very slowly and each time I use internet explorer, my computer crashes. I tried to use system restore to restore the computer to the date before I use window update, but nothing helped. my computer crashes around 5 minutes after it is on.Hello
Updates are closely related to IE.
Try these and it can also be a good idea to update your main drivers later. The General corruption can also play a
role in this issue. And even the TCP/IP stack might need to be refreshed. What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you ALREADY had on this
machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which can cause strange problems). If no joy there's something blocking perhaps.
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - IE with no Addons - what works best?
IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore, and then click Reset - apply / OK
IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - click on reset all default areas - apply / OK
Close and restart IE or IE with no addons
not better?
IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if it is there, it is no longer necessary but Java always install
"(and it causes problems - you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again)." Search for other possible problems.Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look right. Permit
are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If in doubt about a program to ask about it here.Could be that a BHO - BHOremover - free - standalone program, needs no installation, download and run - not all

cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have. Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.
Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.
Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Cannot update Windows / / Windows think that its true / / Windows Explorer crash
BACK STORY: Windows told me that my old HDD is faulty and I need to replace it. I therefore created a system disk image and restore the HARD drive fault and buy a new. I have restored my image for the new HARD drive, and apparently some of the system files that got copied have been corrupted.
I'll HAVE PROBLEMS: The main problem I encounter is that windows will not update. I'll go to the start menu and try to choose windows update and it will sit in the windows Explorer screen blank until it crashes. This is the only time that windows Explorer will crash it's fine otherwise. If I have correctly interpreted my read, inability to update windows is caused by the software is is not authentic. Which brings me to the next point.Windows don't think that it is authentic, even if I see the CDKEY in the system information window and when I hit "Activate Windows" in the search bar in the start menu, that it says "Activation was successful." I get a window saying: http://imgur.com/OQlZDhR I thought that I humor the system and try and validate it although this Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/DownloadValidationSupport.aspx?displaylang=en when I try and install the software Validation of Windows, I get this error: http://imgur.com/8lb0abRTECHNICAL issues: I bought my computer from a major retailer with Windows Vista, he came with an OS disk. I've then upgraded to Windows 7 a few months after it is released and subsequently lost the installation disk that really means nothing because it is not the full operating system. Hello, I am writing because I have a few problems with my favorite browser after update to 8.1 Windows. Here are some details. I've updated Windows 8.0 Windows 8.1, since Firefox run a bit oddly. In particular, when on sites with lots of images like Facebook. It's as if there is some sort of effect of Flikr between the office and the images, as well as between the images and the browser (a bit like old flikering of 16-bit video games). It's not too bad, but it's a question. I tried to reset firefox and restart the computer. I have not tried a repair, and I haven't done an uninstall.
Hello, disable hardware acceleration in firefox should a restart of the application is taken into account. have you tried that too?
Please also see if there is an available update your graphics drivers ...

Hello
I've updated my laptop it has windows 8.1 to 10 and for a few days then my touchpad/pointer has been gel 4-5 seconds after I touch any key on the keyboard. for example. If I hit enter then I can't move the pointer for a few seconds... I can always use the left and right click while the pointer does not move.
Everything worked perfectly until I upgraded to windows 10 and everything else outside the mouse freezing seems to work properly after the upgrade.
Any help fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Question
I have another type of problem with Firefox
Description
Window "Ready to Install" Firefox "Software Update" appeared. The folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates\0" contained the files update.mar, update.status and update.version. Each of the 3 files have been deleted. The next time that Firefox has been started, no update occurred because update files were missing. In the Menu bar, clicking Help showed in the menu drop-down that "apply downloaded update now" was always on the list. By clicking on "Apply downloaded update now" open "Software Update" window "Ready to install update", so that Firefox still considers that the update files exist, but they do not. In the window "Software Update", by clicking on "Restart Firefox" restart of Firefox, but once again it there's no update, and remains "apply downloaded update now" on the Help menu. How can "Apply downloaded update now" be replaced by "Check for Updates" so the update files can be downloaded?
Version of Firefox
3.6.3
Operating system

You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).
If it does not, see our KB article How to resolve the failure of the update of Firefox update error message - the section of 'last resort' can be useful, or or read this article from MozillaZine KB, software update.
Please let us know how the above work, and if we can be of further assistance.

HP 15-af131dx: should I update windows 10 birthday?
Should I update to windows 10 birthday? Someone had problems with the update?
To install the updated Windows 10 anniversary choice you completely. Yes, people have had problems with the update. If you need the use of the computer and can not afford to face questions, you can wait on the installation of the update. If problems occur during or after installation, and you can manage it, you can install the update. I suggest creating a Windows repair disc and do a Windows system image backup before installing the update.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Non-Admins cannot update Windows without Admin password
I'll put up a new Windows 7 PC for my parents. I created an account admin for my part and for each standard user accounts. I put Windows Update to "Allow all users to install updates on this computer". However, whenever Windows detects there is a new update needs to be installed and I am connected to one of the standard user accounts, it prompts me for the admin password. It leaves all of the standard user account install an update of Windows, although I explicitly told Windows Update to do this. What Miss me?

I needed Windows update to try and fix a number display adapter (card intel not giving not external display resolutions)- but that's another question.

No anti-virus installed at the present time, no anti-spyware, no firewall.
Repost: What were the problems you are experiencing that you thought that a "new facility" could solve?
The foregoing notwithstanding, and since you neglected to install an antivirus application...

You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs, or updates IE and before installing your new anti-virus application.

Its been a while now that I can't download and update my Windows Vista Home Premium(64-bit), every time I click on install updates, it starts to download the updates, and when its done and the error occurs, code error: 800 B 001, "Windows has encountered an unknown error" and when when I try again... Error code: 80240016, "Windows update currently installed other updates. Please try again later in a few minutes. »
I downloaded the update Windows Vista SP2 site Web Microsofts (Yes, im still in SP1), thinking it could slove the question, I can not install, when I clicked to install it, it says: "the form specified for the subject is not one supported or known by the specified trust provider."My Vista is genuine and activated, came with my laptop HP HDX16 1050EE.
This issue has been hard for awhile and its a little boring.
Thanks in advance.Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. (No, Symantec Support never say this.) See if the following solves your problems:
1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).
3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).
4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.
NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!
5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.
6. do a clean install of the 2010 version of your Norton application, using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN
TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.
7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".
8 test cycle.
NB: Your Norton application can disable Windows Defender by default.
