Hi Tom,

This problem occurs because the Wups2.dll file included in the latest version of Windows Update is installed incorrectly.

Perform the steps from the link below and see if it helps.

You cannot install updates after a repair of Windows XP or after Windows XP SP3 is installed immediately after a new installation of Windows XP SP2

  • Updates Windows has failed in the past - the system is updated today, I'm good?

    Hello

I have re-installed Windows 7 last resort because of my PC in place and he has downloaded and installed the updates, he found most. However, there are 3 it has downloaded and cannot be installed, and trying to bring once again, I told myself there is no more and my system is up to date. It updates of Microsoft Malware Removal tool (February 2010) which is shown as important and obviously for reasons of security, I would like to download and have the PC install again.

How can I view Windows that it's broken and to re-download and install it? Or am I worrying for nothing because I just re-installed everything?

    Thank you

It is very good. Windows found them and install successfully

Windows update fails repeatedly, despite the withdrawal of 32 bit Vista Home premium and to do a clean reinstall.  Office 2010 Professional Plus was also deleted and performed a clean installation.  Shortly after the new installation, the update process has been very successful.  Now, he returns to the 0 x 80040154 which was the reason for doing all the work.

Hoping that running Windows Update automated convenience store, that the problem could be better identified and respected.  Note that all updates failed, so far, since the work of reloading - are all the Office updates.  We try to avoid the loading of third-party solutions, because the risk is a concern.

  • Update KB2446708 has repeatedly failed to install, citing 66A error code.

Optional updates succeeded where this is important and some recommended to those who do not. Help and troubleshooting suggestions were followed, but in vain. Is there a way to delete all updates failed and regain some lost speed, not to mention allow updates installed?

    Hi Ed,

First try the solution at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en&lc=1033.

If this does not work, remove Microsoft .net Framework 4.0 using the .NET Framework Cleanup tool http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx.  And then reinstall the Microsoft .net Framework 4.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a391abd-25c1-4fc0-919f-b21f31ab88b7&displaylang=en and then install the update, you are having problems with.

If this does not work, try resetting update (including a fixit) components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

If this does not work, try a manual download by putting the KB numbers who fail looking here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx and download them directly and see if it works.

If this does not work, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and remove content (but not the folder itself) and then restart.  See if that helps.

Remove updates failed won't find you any lost speed - although if it could be done, it might be useful save you some space (assuming that all who uploaded was saved even if it has failed).  It also will not help install new updates.  It's a totally different question that hopefully will solve the above.  If a solution works for some but not for all of them, then try the other options to see if they can help as well in terms of everything attaches.

If this does not help, please repost in the forum for the correct Windows version from: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_update?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376.

    I hope this helps.

  • Update Microsoft Security Essentials KB2804527 fails. Ran the recommended "Fix it" and that failed.

In recent weeks, I had a rash of customers, who have all had problems with Microsoft Windows Update across different versions of Windows.

Currently, this client is running Windows XP with installed MSE.  Windows Update has the MSE KB2804527 update as an important update, but it fails.

I tried the recommendations I found in the community, and I tried to run the recommended tool 'Fix It' on it, all this without success.

I'll try to get a live chat support or phone support session goes with Microsoft, but am posting this to the community to be a 'good citizen', so to speak.  :)
