  On June 28, 2010 all about Windows had begun an automatic update while the computer was left on all night. In the morning when I got back to my computer, there was a continuous loop of trying to load an automatic update said "Configuration updates stage 3 of 3-0%"... do not turn off the computer and after it fails to load, it starts to restart my computer and he made this more and more. If I finish the cycle by removing the power source and then back on manually, I have the opportunity to start my computer in safe mode or normally. I tried the 3 modes without danger and they all have the same result, i.e. the loop continues to try to complete step 3 of 3 in the update. I pressed F8 and tried to start with the "last known good configuration" but which also has the same result. I was also able to go to a vaio through F8 menu that gave me the opportunity to perform a system restore. When I restored it to an earlier date, the only change that happened was when the computer starts and started the update (as before)... I would say first "step 1 of 3 0%", then it would jump to the "step 3 of 3 0%" as before and after a minute should restart and continue the loop.  I am unable to do the user connection point because the update starts before.

  Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. If there is anything else, then please let me know what I'd do once I am able to get my Sony recovery disk (I won't be able to get it for a few months). I really need to get my files back.

  Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

• Vista updates step 3 of 3 reboot loop, cannot fix

  I SOLVED THE PROBLEM.  WHAT I DID TO SOLVE IT, IT IS AT THE BOTTOM.

  Someone gave me a laptop to fix, a laptop trying constantly to finsih step 3 in the process of updated, and which never ends and keeps restarting and doing a program over and over again.

  The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with Vista (no 64 - bit).

  I'll try to explain what I tried, and what has not:

  1. I can't start this laptop mode safe, or find a way to do it. F8 doesn't do nothing, F2 brings BIOS, F12 made up a menu of boot command.

  2. use an Installation of Vista disc, selected "repair your computer [or]" to try to fix the system, there is no.

  3 opportunity disc Installation of Vista to try 'system restore', there is no.

  I then used the steps of the other solutions to this problem which have been posted on this site. Specifically, it is known as the "method 3" and comes from this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358.

  The strange thing is that when you go to this page, it mentions "Method 3" as the more complex solution, but "method 3" seems to have been cleaned from this page.  Very strange.

  Anyway, I tried the steps that I found in other solutions listed on this site, as follows:

  4 4 navigue sailed to C:\windows\winsxs, renamed the file "pending.xml" to "pending.old" and was able to do it without problem.

  5 open guest entered in regedit, go to HKLM, load the hive, sailed to C:\Windows\System32\config, clicked on it, typed in "Offline_Components", you press on enter, and this window closed and back window of the Registry Editor interface.

  6 tried to delete the registry key 'HLKM\Offline Components\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving', but it does not exist.

  7 tried to delete the registry key 'HKLM\Offline Components\PendingXmlIdentifier', but it did not exist.  A search in the registry found a subkey named 'PendingXmlIdentifier' in the 'HKLM\Components\' section, but NOT in the section "components of the HKLM\Offline."

  I'm at the stage of ideas. I fixed one of these problems a few months ago on a Vista 64 bit, without too much difficulty.

  Thanks for any help you can offer in this area.

  RESOLVED: I did the following in which the issues listed in step 6 & 7, above.

  1. I created the key that does not exist in step 6: "HLKM\Offline Components\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving".

  2. I've renamed "PendingXmlIdentifier' as 'PendingXmlIdentifierOLD' key in the location 'HKLM\Components\' (supposed to be the key that should have been at"HKLM\Offline Windows\".

  3. I rebooted on the Windows Setup disc, open a command, went to regedit and delete the key that I created in step 1 above.

  4. I rebooted again, this time without the installation disk and update screen "stage 3 of 3 0%" came, but disappeared in a minute or two, and the computer started normally.

  5. I would HAVE followed the instructions on how to stop this ridiculous problem don't breed, by following the instructions in 'How to avoid this problem' in the 'Further information' section of this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358.  However, when I downloaded and tried to run the program, he said: "the update does not apply to your system."  Even if he says that it applies to all versions of Vista...

  If there are updates failed, then try to download and install the stand-alone package with updates from the Microsoft Download Center.

  I have my own model of transfer function. I did first with Matlab/Simulink simulation and succeeded. I use the Signal Generator in Simulink to get out my custom step signal. I modified my step so signal to:
  t = 0 y = 0
  t = 0.1 y = 0
  t = 0.1 y = 50
  t = 10, y = 50
  t = 10 y = 65
  t = 30 y = 65.

  It's the kind of staircase input signals. Now, how to build such this approach custom signals to be fed in my transfer function. I tried the function 'Not of Signal' of the 'Simulation', but I can only get the 50 and I don't know how to add more "staircase" in my input signals. Could someone help me?
