Updates to Inspiron 7746
ST500LM000/ST1000LM014-Seagate Firmware Update will not install. He goes to the start-up and crashes. Any suggestions? I use Windows 10.
Hi SmilingLady,
The date of device driver, which is a Windows thing, has nothing to do with the firmware, which is something of a hardware manufacturer. We do not recommend updating the firmware, especially for disk drives, unless there is a specific reason to do so.

Update drivers Inspiron 660 s Intel
I had a failure of the update via Windows Update my Intel Driver. It kept failing. I went to the Intel Download Center, and he's looking for me. There is no new update listed under my Dell computer, than I already have. Apparently, he had two types of updates available for my computer at Intel chipset driver. Now, Intel found two drivers, I believe that he installed a. Another keep. This is the exe for WIN64_152822.exe and it fails every time. He said to close all programs. I thought I did. Although Carbonite will not let you go out just. I used the Task Manager to close a bunch of them. So I froze just Carbonite, because knock out would not work via the Task Manager. I couldn't leave my Eset Nod32 either, so I disabled it temporarily. I didn't stop all Intel running in fear, it would not continue with the update of the driver. Has anyone dealt with this issue?
There is no need to update the graphics driver Intel unless one is located on the site of Dell and is recommended. Otherwise, leave well enough alone. I only update of the dedicated graphics drivers for video cards.

I have an Inspiron 1720 under Vista Home Premium and I want to upgrade to Windows 7. The Microsoft Compatibility Test indicated that there would be no problem. But when I tried to install Windows 7 Home Premium, he answered by saying that I had to update the version of the BIOS (A03). After having checked the Dell Support the version the most recent is A09. When I try to download it all I get is a download manager that tells me that there are no files to download. In my view, the file I need is 1702_A09. EXE. How to install this update of the BIOS?
eusetep
Please download the slot BIOS file for your system.
Let me know if you have any questions, the battery must be charged and connected to the AC adpt during the update.
All applications must be closed. Interrupts the installation could make the motherboard unusable.

Updating desktop Inspiron 660 s graphics
I have a desktop Dell Inspiron 660 s running with 6 GB of memory, 1 to hard drive and Intel HD graphics. I want to improve my graphics in order to allow a better gaming experience. I would like to know if it is possible to improve the graphics and if I could come to this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IDG3NDY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Thanks for any help!
I think I have a small Tower because it doesn't have a lot of empty space inside. Is it possible to have a card not in the Tower?
The GTX 750 will not work. Only low-profile cards will be suitable to the 660 s. You also only a 220 Watt power supply. I run the HD 6570 HERE in 660 s who does well enough with the games. Even if you can still find them (overpriced) because they have been abandoned, the 7750 HD HERE worked in the 660 s and was the best card you could get. The Sapphire is available only used on ebay, but other brands are still there. The HD 6570 would be higher than your Intel HD graphics and for the price can be your best buy. You cannot run the cards outside your Tower.

Question updated HDD Inspiron E1505
I have a laptop Inspiron E1505 and I'm interested in changing my old hard drive to a Dell 120 GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD.
My question is, what preparation do I need to do to replace my hard drive? (ie. backup, backup recovery, etc..) Basically I want all that is on my computer at that moment a little on a bigger hard drive. I do not understand how to change it, but I need to know how to get the information I have (from my original hd) on this subject after I install it.
Also, is there anything else I need to change for this hd work. (I currently have Intel T2300 at 1.66 GHz,.99 GB of RAM if it would be helpful)
I know a bit about computers, but not too technical if you please.

They gave me a new nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT 512 MB PCI-E video card 8600.
Can I install it in an inspiron 531 without changing the power supply?
If I change the ps what unit can or should I buy?
-
Power supply and maybe of processor was updated. (Inspiron 531)
Achieve a power supply of 300 watt will be so not good for a 8800GT which brand of 450 Watt PSU do I need? Dell sell them or I will have to buy one from elsewhere, and once again is all universal size PSU?
With respect to the processor, I have an AMD Athlon x 2 5600 and think to upgrade one 6400 AMD or a processor 2.5 GHz Quad Core 9950 BLACK Edition of AMD Phenom X 4, suggestions what to get? Prefer to keep to AMD. So many questions lol. Thank you.
Edit: What the PSU would cost roughly?

Upgrading CPU for Inspiron 17r N7110
Is it possible to update the i5 - 2450M to an i7 chip, and if yes what i7 chip I can use?
Hello
just to let you know that I've updated an inspiron n7110 to the i7 cpu. He had the i3 2330 m cpu in but change over same as the i5. Processors supported are 2330 i3, i3 2350 m, i5 2450 m, i7 2630qm and i7 2670qm. (there may be others). As Sue McCartin mentioned see youtube and google. Replace the cpu was pretty easy as have replaced multiple-CPU to a local pc shop might make it no problem if your is not happy to do it yourself.
I just noticed post is old but I hope it helps someone else if you already have your fact.

Reference Dell touchpad doesn't scroll in Windows 10 - Inspiron 11 3137
Updated my Inspiron 11 3137 to 10 Windows by doing a clean install. I installed all the drivers from the Dell Support site for Windows 10 x 64, including the v19.0.15.2 Dell Touchpad Driver (A00) listed. I configured the touchpad settings as I had them in the previous OS - with 2 fingers of active scroll. It worked fine, but now has problems to win 10.
Win 10, scrolling works fine in Google Chrome and Nitro pdf reader only (I've tested, at least). In Internet Explorer, and all of the 'modern' aka 'Metro' apps, scrolling does not work. When I scroll gesture, a small roll of type icon appears but nothing happens (see attached photo). I tried to reset the touchpad settings and I tried to uninstall / reinstall the driver, without success.
Suggestions?
Thank you!
In case anyone else has this problem, I solved it by installing the driver for the Touchpad of Dell for Windows 8.1. Now, all scrolls, including Windows 10 apps and Internet Explorer.
The version that works is v17.0.9.23 (A03) and is listed under 8.1 WIndows drivers.
