Updates to Windows 8 problem

This is a new Asus Notebook and my first go on Windows 8. As soon as I turned on and managed to get the hang of navigating around her, I realized, I need to update to Windows 8.1. The store's site helpfully informed me how to install updates to Windows 8 that I need before installing 8.1 and I dutifully toddled off to do exactly this.

I found the right place and discovered that there are 102 updates, I clicked on install and lost for a cup of tea, knowing that it would take some time. When I got home, it's always 0% installed. I searched on the forum here and followed the various suggestions that I could understand. I went into the control panel to install updates one by one, no joy. He says he does, but nothing ever really happens.

I did the usual things, I checked my internet connection. I turned it and turn it back on. No joy.

I have about a little more and find a troubleshooting updates. I ran it, it said I would have more chance if I ran it as administrator. I had no idea, I wasn't and clicked the button. He told me that he had solved all my problems. Fortunately, I tried to install the updates, this time, just watched it updates. For 30 minutes. I turned it and turn it back on. I tried again. To the best of my knowledge, he is always looking for updates.

How the hell update this thing? I did nothing to it because I bought it today and I'm completely stumped!

(Please use simple language, I used to set my ZX Spectrum in Basic. I don't have not changed since then.)

    Hello

After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers. I get an error code 21 when I try to install the drivers AMD apparently missing.

May 14, last night I had several (automatically) downloaded windows update

Today, I was unable to boot my computer with Windows - tried the disk check, start checks etc, and eventually had to use System Restore (for help before the critical update to restore).

Perfection, everything works, but knowing that windows will attempt to redo an automatic update, tried to check online - no one seemed to have a problem and (naivly) thinking I could always do another restore of the system, I rebooted again.

Same thing worse. Could not do a sys restore either just before restarting or last night. Chose a date earlier (last week) but then lost the USB drivers and pilots display. Downloaded updated but refuses to let my AMD driver install Windows I have a very unpleasant screen... and I must now stop the installation of this update "critical."

Would appreciate advice how do my installed display driver or whether anyone else has problems following this update

  • Satellite 2410: Updates of Windows XP problem - it hangs after reboot

Hello! I am a computer engineer and I never face a problem like this before.

I install a new HD to the model 2410-601, after the installation of the restore CD and the conversion to NTFS I installed SP2. Now... after the computer start some automatic updates and ask for a reboot. When it restarts the computer will not fully start and stop at Midway to the windows xp logo... I checked updates of drivers of toshiba for a bios update. And the latest version was a 2002 V1.40. 2002 the last of them? in 4 years toshiba took the trouble to update a bios version?

I even changed the RAM, because I though that might be the problem.
I update SP2 from windows update and still does not. I formatted the machine 5 times already.

    Can anyone help?

    Excuse my English

    Hello

Above all the BIOS update has nothing to do with a Microsoft SP2.
You should know as a computer engineer.
My laptop is about 6 years old and I've never updated a BIOS. It works well with all Microsoft OS.

However; did you check Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update information?

  • Update on windows 8 problems causing

So I've had this laptop HP Pavilion G6 on Windows 8 since May of this year and this issue I had guard the Outlander. Basically, a pop-up window in the lower right of the screen saying that there is an update from HP to be installed, with three options - to perform the action now, see Selecting since how long until the next restart and another option that missed me at this time. Whenever I click on the button confirm to install updates the pop up screen disappears. Minutes later my phone freezes and the fan is going mental. The only way to turn off the laptop (since the power buttom will not do anything) is to remove the battery if it runs of that or remove the charger cable. This becomes very time consuming... can anyone help with this problem or explain why this happens?

    See you soon!

    Hello

If you want to disable the automatic updates like this, you can do it from Start Menu - HP - HP Update

There is a settings button at the bottom of the main panel where you can select the frequency of checking of updates - weekly or never.

    It could be useful!

  • Update for Windows Vista problem

I had a virus on my computer and I rebooted just my Dell Dimension 9200 from scratch with Window Vista.  Everything worked fine until I went to Windows Update and installed updates.  Now, I don't see any of my CD ROM drives listed.  When I go to Device Manager it shows CDROM drives (2 of them), but it is said that they cannot be used because the information in the registry is damaged or missing.  I tried to restore the computer to a restore point before installing the updates, I did, but the system restore no longer works.

After wringing my hands and trying to find and install the drivers without success, I have completely reformatted (AGAIN) and reinstall Vista reinstalled the printer Dell discs (AGAIN) and he did exactly the thing again.   This machine has no new material and ran Vista successfully for about a year before the virus got it.

On a second note, almost half of the updates do not give an error code that indicates that the computer uses a proxy server.  This is not the case.  I use a DSL line to a medem then my router / switch that I have used for years.  This computer is connected to the router / switch with an ethernet cable.  I use the router so my laptops can connect wirelessly.

    Hello!

I bought a HP Split X 2 13.3 "laptop in a show of computer a little more than 1 year.

It comes with Windows 8 pre-loaded at that time here.

Later, Microsoft offers a free upgrade for all 8 to 8.1 Win win and I did as well.

Everything goes perfectly smooth, at least until recently, when I try to go control panel perform add functionality of Windows 8.1.

    He asked me product key!

When I looked at the bottom of my laptop Split X 2, it doesn't have the Windows product key sticker. There is only 1 sticker hologen Windows 8! Therefore, I use a key finder application to detect the product key.

I enter the product key when I run add a feature to 8.1 win again, but the windows prompted me key is not valid.

    Why?

Insalled Win8.1 is the authentic version. I can perform regular updates of Windows without problem.

    Hello

The add feature is to upgrade your current Windows 8/8.1 Core Windows 8/8.1 Pro Edition or Windows Media Center Edition 8/8.1.

It requires you to purchase the particular product key with regard to the option to add features.

  • HP EliteBook 850 G3: HP EliteBook 850 G3: its problems after the update of Windows 10 anniversary

    Hi people!

After the update of Windows 10 birthday I have problems with my sound card. There are two sound cards listed by Device Manager. The first is "Conexant Audio of ISST" and the second "Intel High Definition Audio". I know not weather it was the case before the update. I just recognized it after the update when I had sound problems.

In any case, on a sound start works on the other boot it does not work. It seems that Windows chooses the sound card, every time when it starts. Sometimes it takes the bad sound card.

I tried to uninstall maps its and their resettlement. On the HP site, there is a driver for the Conexant map bot no driver for Intel High Definition Audio card. 10 Windows itself is not find a driver for this sound card. I also tried to reinstall the other drivers, chipset drivers for example. But unfortunately it did not help. I also tried to disable the Intel High Definition Audio, but also without success.

What else can I try? I don't want to reinstall Windows. There must be a solution without this. Any ideas? Here's a screenshot of my device manager, perhaps it helps:

If you need more information, please let me know.

    Best regards

    Ty

I just tried this driver and I still have sound after 6 resets.

  • From updateing to 8.1 WIndows printer problems

Until I updated to Windows 8.1 other months everything was going well on my new laptop, then I went to something of my HP Photosmart B109n scan and it did not work because the pilot was now missing and the application that replace the HP printer driver HP is useless.

On the advice of the HP site, I tried to download the new driver, but it wouldn't go, he said I had to remove the exsisting installation but when I try it just reboots the computer, but is still there afterwards. It turns out the uninstall has disappeared from the current and installation does not appear in the installer I downloaded.

As a last resort, I used the system restore but has not only the printer has not changed but now some pre-loaded apps will not work and ask to renew the license of developers.

I'm a lost what to do next - please help!

Your laptop is not known to me, but in the case of update 8.1 Win, you should check this update from Toshiba to win 8.1 page: http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/gen...ws8_1-message/

There you can check if the Win 8.1 is supported on your laptop and how to perform the Update step by step for Windows 8.1
Some drivers must be uninstalled and updated after installation of update 8.1 to win!

    Regarding your printer problem:
Each manufacturer of the printer contains own drivers for the Windows System.
We don't know me if HP released Win 8.1 compatible drivers for the printer Photosmart B109n clean, but to be honest, this problem is not related to the Toshiba laptop. If you have problems using HP printer under 8.1 to win, you should visit the support page of the printer manufacturer for troubleshooting tips and workaround solutions.

You can consult in this regard of the installed update is causing the problem by removing the updates and install them one at a time. To check the updates are installed to follow the link given below.

  • Win7, installed on the RAID1 does not work Windows Update and messneger (SID problem)?

Hi, first of all the machine description

OS: Win7 Pro 64 bit Original and new
    MB: ASUS P7H57D-V EVO
    Processor: Intel Core i7 860
    RAM: 4 x 2 GB Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
    Graphics: Ati Radeon HD5670
    HARD drive: 2 x WD GP 1 TB - 1 x Seagate 1 TB

Problem: a bit long to explain...
I first tried to install the OS on a RAID1, so initially I set raid in the bios with the 2 WD1Tb, then I created the table and I started the installation.
WIN DVD it recognises the table, it starts installing, it made the first reboot, when is close to finishing it gives an error that cannot complete the installation. I spent 10 days trying to solve the problem without result.
So I decided to work around the problem, I installed the operating system on a single hard drive, then I cloned the HDD for the RAID1.
Everything seems to go well but... Update Windows and MSN Messenger will not connect, as having a problem of equality SID.
If I clone the installation of work, everything works on a different disk included WIN UPDATE and Messenger.
    Cloned on the table, right.
The table is correctly recognized by WIN7, I downloaded the latest drivers from the Asus MB site, but the problem remains

    What can I try?

    Thank you to everyone

If 'update of Windows and MSN Messenger' [AKA Windows Live Messenger] are not connected, the chances are it is a network problem. And then...

    1. what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

    2. If Win7 64 bits is pre-installed on the computer when you bought it, a free trial Norton or McAfee came preinstalled, too? (No matter if you have never used or activated).
