Updating of database without using RMAN duplicate

Hi all

I intend to update my test instance in a PIT using backups RMAN of PROD. I would like to know the process without being connected to the PROD database and without using RMAN dual.

Thank you.

Imran khan says:
Please delete your concepts about the process of backup and restore RMAN... It is not possible to update your db test for prod db RMAN backup parts without using RMAN dual and without connecting to the PROD database...
I would be very surprised if you can get this answer to your pointless question...

It is most details too throw an insult while making false statements on the displayed issue.
Maybe you are the one who does not know how to use rman.

There is a way to clone (refresh) a database of development of a backup of the production without using the command DUPLICATE.

In summary, you must do this:

(1) with rman, restore the backup piece controlfile.
(2) startup mount
(3) with rman, restore the database.
(4) recover database using backup controlfile until Cancel.
(5) use the 'nest' utility to change the name of the database.

Good luck!

  • Why do we use RMAN DUPLICATE to cloning DB on a different server?

    DB version: 11.2.0.2, 10.2.0.5

    I want to create a clone of my Production DB in a test server. In the past, I have taken the backup hot of this DB production and restored and retrieved it in another server using simple RMAN commands.
    After restoring the control file, editing of the DB and catalogue items from backup on the test server, I run
    run {
    restore database ;
    recover database until time <time> ;
    alter database open resetlogs ;
    }
    In OTN, I ran into long discussions such as running
    RMAN duplicate database

    where they are trying to restore and recover using DOUBLE command, as shown below.
    run
     {
    duplicate target database to RBS
    nofilenamecheck
    pfile=/tmp/aux.ora;
     }

    They can't just use plain RMAN restore and retrieve orders I've done? What advantage have RMAN DUPLICATE on orders of Plains?

    RMAN DUPLICATE is designed to give the database clone a new name of the database and the new database identifier:

    >
    If you copy a database with the operating system instead of the command utilities DUPLICATE, then the DBID of the database copied remains identical to the original database. To register for the database of the copy in the same catalog of recovery with the original, you must change the DBID with utility DBNEWID (see the Oracle database utilities). On the other hand, the command DUPLICATE assigns the duplicate DBID different database so that it can be saved in the same catalog of recovery than the source database.

  • Current database cloning using RMAN

    Hello

    I have my database (11.2.0.3.0) of test running on Windows server 2008 R2 64-bit. My name is TESTDB database and its operation in log mode archive with ASM. I want to clone the same database using RMAN... I checked the many documents and have searched in google also, but did not find the right document. I am very new to the database of ACTIVE RMAM feature.

    Here I have the different file name with the structures of different directories also...

    my doubt is:

    * 1. How to copy a database running in log mode Archive with the DSO to the remote computer with the same name of DB via RMAN? *
    * 2. How to copy a database works in log mode Archive with ASM in a remote machine with the different DB name like CLONEDB via RMAN? *

    Please suggest me how to proceed?

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Update the database without affecting the application

    Hi all

    11.5.10.2 on linux.

    Recently, we are improving our test environment with the last group of patches of SOUL with 2 patches huge. now, the requirement is to update the database with the most recent data. I'm quite aware that refreshing db only will affect the fixes we applied. There is no work around for this?

    Kai

    Kai,

    You must apply the patches again after updating the database using "options = nocopyportion, nogenerateportion". In doing so, the part of the database apply only, and the database will be in phase with the application with respect to these two patches.

  • How can I start the database without using crsctl? ~ Xev

    Hey guys, it's Xev.

    I'm trying to recover cancellation based, and when I try to put the database to mount with sqlplus, it won't let me.

    How to use srvctl to put the database in a mode of editing?

    I stopped the entire stack of crs on both nodes, but I'm not clear on how to assemble the database now to the CCR?

    Thank you

    Xev.

    I have the GRID_HOME of source and I use root of course srvctl start because it is in srvctl.

    I have crs stack while I do this? If yes how do I start the CRS battery without the database?

    Hi Xev

    On this step, I'm assuming that you have defined cluster_database = false and have stop the CRS.

    Remember: -.

    1 take a full backup still running (assume that you already have).

    2. make cluster_database = false, before starting the recovery.

    3 went parallelmediarestore the RMAN parameter, because it can slow down the recovery process.

    4 restore the db.

    5. you start db.

    6. set cluster_database = true.

    7. stop your db in normal mode, immediate.

    8. start your database by srvctl

    Good luck...

  • How can I update the BIOS without using a CD?

    Hello!

    I recently decided to update my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB. After installation, I started my computer to find that it would not recognize the new memory. After doing some troubleshooting, I decided to try to update the BIOS, like the 2010 version. I have downloaded the update to the BIOS boot CD implementation of lenovo, burned a disk and restarts, I found that the boot order has no CD contained thereon. Here's the catch: I do not have the supervisor password. It is a mobile phone in hand, and I tried to find the password nothing is done. It's the current boot order: USB key, hard drive.

    My question is, can I create a BIOS update disk using a USB key, or update the BIOS of another way?

    I understand that it is impossible to recover the supervisor password without having served (that I prefer to not do, even if I have to return my Crucial RAM)

    My system features:

    ThinkPad L512

    BIOS version: 1.04

    BIOS date: 2010-3-26

    Controller of Embeded Version: 1.01

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Two things here:

    (a) If you run the system update, it should offer the latest BIOS for your machine as well. I never did on a protected device, so it may or may not work, but perhaps worth it.

    (b) I doubt the ability of the system to recognize the new RAM has something to do with the BIOS. Much older than your ThinkPads will take place 4-8 GB of RAM with an old BIOS, older than your machine initially.

    Good luck.

  • Unable to connect to the local database (without using the tnsname)

    Hi guys
    I have 2 database running on the local computer.

    Db1 SID - orcl (install 1)
    DB2 SID - unicode (later installation)

    Today I stop the basic unicode and stop its respective services.

    on the back
    I did a sqlplus scott/tiger, I got an error
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    That's why
    I did a
    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl

    and I still get the same error.
    -------------------------------------------------

    So I'm the other way around. I orcl database stop, stop its services and database unicode to START and its services.

    I disassembled the ORACLE_SID environment variable.

    Now, I have in the command prompt
    sqlplus scott/tiger

    I am connected to the unicode database!
    -------------------------------------------------

    Now I ORCL stop unicode data and start...

    and I have a
    sqlplus scott/tiger@ORCL...

    I HAVE no problem to connect to it...
    --------------------------------------------------

    May I ask why should I provide the TNSname ORCL database and I do not for the UNICODE of the databases...
    Both are local on my database.

    What's wrong?

    Moreover, I am on XP.
    Thank you!

    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@ORCL > exit

    Set ORACLE_SID = unicode
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode > exit

    Well, we know that both your DBs are working properly.

    So out of curiosity, I did cela tests...
    (1) connect the two database and stop
    (2) stop their services
    (3) start only ORCL service
    (4) close and reopen the command prompt to delete the var of environment ORACLE_SID

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    Error: ORA-12560: TNS: Protocol adapter error

    (5) now I stop service ORCL
    (6) (and I start the service of UNICODE)

    then I deliver

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode >

    It seems quite normal. In your registry value ORACLE_SID is, most likely, unicode, the last created: check it out, and if so, you can connect to unicode DB without setting ORACLE_SID, while you will need to set to connect to DB orcl.

    When you have more than one DB, you set the ORACLE_SID environment variable before connecting either you use connection strings.

  • To update the database by using selection lists in an interactive report

    I use the Application Express 4.2.6.00.03.

    I have an interactive report in two columns with a selection list in the second column. The generated query the report is

    Select pn.project_name,

    (Select APEX_ITEM. SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(2, PN.) Batch, 'SELECT status_name d, r from RES_STATUS order by sequence batch', NULL, 'NO') of double) STATUS

    of res_project_name_detail pnd, pn res_project_name

    where pn.project_name_id = pnd.project_name_id

    Now I need to find a way to change the database to reflect the changes made to a select list that appears in the second column (batch) as they are made. Are there any suggestions as to how this could be done? I have experience of limited Java script if a solution that I can use directly would be great.

  • How to send the SQL for SQL Server statement and return data without using database connectivity Kit?

    Hi, I tried to figure out how to extract data from my SQL Server databases and reading messages and to do some tests with examples, I can get data connection type in my SQL server, but so far nothing helps.  Is it possible to get data from a SQL Server database without using the database connectivity Toolkit?  and if so, how?  are there whitepapers and/or examples of this?  So far, I can't find something that works.  Thank you.

    Jesse - what is your reason for not using the database connectivity Toolkit? It is by far the best way to recover the data.

  • RMAN DUPLICATE DATABASE RESULT IN A RE - ORG

    Database Version 10.2.0.4

    When I perform a duplicate database RMAN is the new database completely reorganized? The new database can be any fragmentation or water marks high if the source database has done?

    Thank you

    The answer to your question is no duplicate RMAN does not cause a re - org, RMAN is a block of files of database level backup, RMAN duplicate is a double level of a data block. Therefore, duplicate RMAN is fundamentally a restoration of the source database, because it is in another location and an instance of the database and the database name change.

  • RMAN Duplicate + incremental backups + upgrade to 12 c

    Hello

    IM thinking the best way migrationg and upgrading database 11.2.0.4 to 12 c with reasonable downtime.

    reasonable downtime: 30 Minutes

    Source: Solaris (Intel)

    11.2.0.4

    DB Dimensions: 800G

    Target: Linux

    12 c

    new name of the comic.

    IM thinking to use RMAN Duplicate with option NoOpen(1) (RMAN catalog is in use). Double will be for sure several of 30 minutes then think if I can combine two copies for the recovery of the archivelogs generated during replication to minimize downtime. But is it possible when I change DB_NAME?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    I guess, you may need to check once this document. 412484.1

    I'm really not sure about your source and target system

    If your source is the 'Platform_id' 20, you can enjoy all your needs in 30 minutes or less. If this isn't the case, it is difficult.

    If your platform_id is 20, you can then create physical standby for your 11.2.0.4 and get the same thing, once the database is recovered, you can convert this logic of sleep (note: your database must be validated for the logical expectation), if you convert your logical database in standby mode, then you can change the name of your database to the new name also you can upgarde to 12 c.

    After upgrade, you can still recover all changes to your primary. Once the logic ensures sync with primary then you can pass.

    If your platform_id not 20, then

    You can opt for Golden Gate...

    Thank you
