Updating\upgrade OPatch in Olivier 11g

Hi guys,.

I am trying to install a patch 11.1 . 1.6.6 in obiee 11g, but when I apply opatch is this error occurred:

opatch' is not recognized as a builtin or external Windows

I googled and found a few articles saying for me my OPatch updates to get the latest version. But I'm not able to find it.
Please help me.

VUM - vCenter Update/upgrade to level host w/o vMotion?

We hab a laboratory and the environment in which we would like to test vCenter Update Manager. We have Crossover installed on vCenter-VM.
A fundamental question is whether you can update/upgrade to level the host that runs the vCenter-VM and without vMotion. I would tend to say no if a patch requires the host in maintenance mode, but perhaps that staging feature a more differentiated response.

That's right, you can not switch from a host using VUM if you vCenter VM resides on that host. If you do not you can do a few things of vMotion. Take note of your vCenter VM and host running the VM vCenter datastore. Then connect directly to the host where your vCenter VM, it turns off, remove the inventory. Then open a session on a different host, browse the data store and add the vCenter VM inventory and turn on.

Once the vCenter THAT VM is powered on a different host, you can patch the other host using AUVS. Otherwise you have to patch the host as a stand-alone host.

We use oracle database 10g r2 and oracle developer suite 10 g.

We want to upgrade to the database 11g and fusion middleware.

My Manager ask me to prepare a report for what version of oracle 11g and what version of fusion middleware we should use.both of them should be compatible.

I've been thinking recently update to my OS from vista to 7. I was advised to clean install instead of an upgrade as this leads to fewer problems. I was wondering, if I don't then should I reinstall assistant hp and hp update, etc.? Windows 7 will also automatically create a resort/recovery for me option?

You are right.

Just make sure you have the installation diskettes for your programs and save your files. As you know, a clean install will erase everything.

I would check the driver page and see what drivers and software are "because that's all you're going to get."

Also, to make it easier on yourself, look in your device manager now and write all the names and the models of the devices that you have installed so that you know what drivers you need to load if any of them are missing after installation. Note the name of the graphics card, network cards, sound card, card reader, etc.

The WRT54GL v1.1 firmware update: "upgrade are failed.

I'm updating my WRT54GL v1.1 firmware. I downloaded a file called FW_WRT54GL_4.30.13.016_US_EN_code.zip, which I unzipped to produce a file with a .bin extension. I use the web interface to update the firmware with the .bin file and get the error message "upgrade are failed" very late in the process of upgrading. I tried to reset the router by pressing the reset for 30 seconds button, but it does not help. I use Safari on a Macbook Pro under Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try to use different browser and check... If possible try to use Internet Explorer.

What is the best way to upgrade an application without losing the data in the persistent store? It probably should be as easy as downloading the new application and replace the old. But according to some tests that I did, in some situations data in the persistent store is lost after update of the application and the device is restarted. (this happens for example when you use the 4.1 7290 simulator) So, how the application update process should work in theory (when data is deleted and when not), and how does it work on the real device?

If you pass your own objects such as the com.yourcompany.MyClass in the persistent store that they are deleted when you uninstall your application.

If you use shared classes as java.util.Vector they will remain in persistent memory, even if you uninstall your app.

I do not use common classes only, this is a wrong approach. It is best to save your own class instances.

To preserve your data - do not uninstall the old application, just install the new application on the old application.

Update / upgrade of Java through BES and Desktop Manager applications

I have developed an application and I distributed by BES (wireless) and Desktop Manager. When I made a few changes, what Im doing is enforcement of the removal and reinstallation. There is no way to update/update without deleting the app in both cases (BES and DM)?

Client insists on using import export to upgrade the database, rather than DBUA.
Can someone provide me with the steps for the upgrade of Oracle 9i to 11g using import export.

(1) Create tablespace target Database 11 g.

(2) take full backup of Database 9i export.

(3) dump file to target server backup and import

(4) make the validation test as number of the object, objects, Invalid etc.,.

This has been solved...

I dig this problem and found the problem...

Question: Presentation server is not started because of the tag that is in instanceconfig.xml in the path below...

.. \instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1

Solution: Based on the error, I checked the folder of the instanceconfig.xml file. I found there are 2 file of this one and the other are .bak file.

So I compared the 2 files. DefaultFreezeHeadersClientRowBlockSize tag file is not available in the .bak. So I took off and tried to restart the services.

Able to run Services.

Hope this helps if anyone has the issue.

Note: Do not know how the instanceconfig.xml file updated. If anyone knows it please reply here...

Customer update from 6.3 to 11g on Solaris 11
We work with a client who bought new hardware from Oracle and installed Solaris 11, where root is a role and not much of a user.
The plan is to move a 6.3-11g in parallel mode environment, if we can.
So that the old and new environments run in parallel, on the new hardware, we wanted to build a 6.3 environment that synchronizes with replication
with the current context and then upgrade in place.

We hit the hurdle from the beginning; for example how to configure Tomcat6 so that we can create directory servers that start as a person.

Currently, the only way to get the DSCC on Tomcat6 is to install ADS in cascade webservd and problems here.

Anyone who works for 6.3.x' s Department DSCC running on Glassfish 3.0.1 where this works a little better, or is there a better approach.

I do something similar, except will not comment on Solaris, Solaris Linux - just support us better Linux for my company.

I created to 11.g 6.3 replication agreements, from one server to another, and you could do an import/export or init-repl-dest according to the size of the data. It is easier to do with the command-line instead of dscc.

You will not be able to use the dscc 6.3 to manage 11.g servers and vice versa. They can monitor each other, but they are unable to manage the configuration of the other.

From my experience, you will need to use Java 1.7 to get anything to work properly. Make sure it is what you have in your path.
